Setting up in Windows is clearly described in Nophead's manual but OS X is just as simple, albeit not explained in any detail so I thought it might be useful to consolidate the information I found and/or worked out for myself. If you follow Nophead’s original blog post about the origins of the Mendel90 design you’ll find how he wanted to solve some specific issues he had with his Mendel. If this is what you mean by “is the print quality better” then the answer is probably “yes”, especially if you need to move your printer around a lot. Be careful of which end you're peeling back those 6 wires - it sounds like you may be peeling from the wrong end! In the manual, X-motor assembly steps 6-12 describes this with pictures. Working back from the extruder end, 14 of the 20 wires go into the D-clamp and the remaining 6 wires get peeled all the way back the length of that narrow (18mm?) green polypropylene cable strip.
