This is a really cool, original design, Delgir. Nice work! I just saw this today and I'm super excited about it! Long ago I posted some links and notes about flexure hinges and compliant mechanisms here but as far as I know, your printer is the first that does X,Y,Z with only flexures. Very cool. VDX has done some very fine work using lasers to engrave PCB's, plastics, ceramic tile, and more. There are many examples of people making makeshift 3D printers out of whatever materials they can find. Maybe this information is useful to you if you don't have access to sophisticated kits or hardware. Quotegoldenmongoose Huh? OK, so you don't come right out and say "No, I am not ohioplastics" but instead you act confused. goldenmongoose, if you would like to have a heated discussion about international politics, there are plenty of places to do that on the internet. The RepRap forums are supposed to be a place where people discuss self-replicating manufacturing tools (of which 3D printers are a subset). The RepRap forums are not supposed to be a place where anybody posts any thought about anything that pops inby MattMoses - General
It would be nice if we didn't get this thread heated up again just for the sake of having an argument about politics. As far as I know, there hasn't been any new (public) developments regarding this case for quite some time. (Which is probably why the thread was cold since Feb 02 2014.) Perhaps we can save the political debate until there are some new announcements regarding Stratasys/Afinia?by MattMoses - General

@A2: Here is what OP said: QuoteKyle R Are there any Cartesian printers that have a stationary bed, with a design that allows the head to travel in 3 directions, or an open-source project like the Makerbot printer with a print head that travels in the X-Y plane, and a stage that travels in the Z direction? I searched around a bit (I'm sure you've already done this) and the best I could find was an unsatisfying and incomplete drawing of the Mk3(?) on this site. Thanks. On taking a closer look at some of the items on ShapeDo, I see there is an option to clearly cite the original author and source files (see for example this hexaflexagon). Comment 1: ShapeDo has been listed on the Printable Part Sources wiki page for months, along with dozens (literally dozens) of other alternatives to Thingiverse. Wow, yeah. That page is ancient. Note: if you click the "Build a RepRap" link in the main page sidebar instead of at the bottom (we should fix this), it takes you to this page: RepRap Options which is similar to the page you landed on but more up to date... Out of curiousity, which part of the wiki are you looking at that suggests RepRap Host? Parts of the wiki are pretty terribly out of date... We might need to update it if it's recommending RepRap Host. The options suggested by isonoob are more modern than RepRap Host.
