I live in Toronto and got the Prusa i3 Acrylic from Czar's 4 days after it got shipped. Happy with the speed and service.by zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
Thanks Dylan010101. I haven't tightened the aluminum alloy pulley yet that's why it looks sitting next to the y motor. I also followed the exact procedure as you said about the y axis. The y plate is smooth and I'm not really concerned about the bearings anymore.by zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
4. Y plate, belt, and motor: 20 mins I found it much easy to keep the chassis loose and slide the Y plate to make the chassis self-align. First I tightened the Y corners to have the frame sturdy, and then attached the Y belt holder to the Y plate. Aligning the Y-idler, Y-belt-holder, and the Y-motor mount took me some time. I could still see the belt shifted when I move the Y plate to either endsby zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
That's a good point Dodge99. Going to do that next, thanks.by zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
3. Chassis Assembly: 45 mins The chassis was straight forward and easy to assemble. It was however very time consuming considering how many things had to go on the threaded rods. I highly recommend any future builder follow the exact words on Czar's document. I made several mistakes along the way by not putting the piece in the correct orientation (the Y motor mount in particular) or order (theby zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
I was debating between a Mendel90 and a Prusa i3, and eventually decided to go with i3 because there are many more vendors and resources. I have a Makerbot Replicator in school but never built a RepRap before, please let me know if I'm doing any steps wrong and feel free post any questions you have. I got the Prusa i3 Acrylic kit from 3D Printer Czar. I chose this model because their email respby zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
I'm having trouble to apply a nice flat layer of Kapton tape to the build bed. These things are very sticky and I always end up with bubbles or crimples. And I always have the tapes overlap near the edge. How do you guys put Kapton tape on the heat bed?by zoroeye - General Mendel Topics
thanks guys, the only concern I have is shipping since I'm in Canada. You guys know any clones/resellers in North America?by zoroeye - Mendel90
neildarlow which kind of panels did you assemble your MendelI90 with? How would you comment on the rigidity of the printer?by zoroeye - Mendel90
Hi guys, I'm deciding between MendelI90 and Prusa i3. Both are of great design, and strong community support (Prusa i3's community is a bit larger I think). I can find many Prusa i3 vendors, at pretty decent prices like [3dprinterczar.com] or www.diytechshop.com. But the only place that sells MendelI90 kit seems to be from Nophead. Sourcing parts myself is my last resort as I'm in a place not thaby zoroeye - Mendel90
that's actually one thing i find annoying too, why don't these suppliers just include the borosilicate glass in the kit. It took me forever to find a trusted vendor... which ones have you found so far logiwan992?by zoroeye - General Mendel Topics

its a good idea bld3r_cat, I've actually been thinking about it for a while. One problem I see is that not all these models are suitable or designed for a RepRap printer, and people prefer one site instead of 10 to get the objects.by zoroeye - Object repositories

One of my friends did his master's project on a similar design at Hod Lipson's lab at Cornell. I don't know about the specifics but he told me they were having trouble in terms of material property. You can find more about his research atby zoroeye - Developers
