Hello everyone, I'm planning an article on real-world and practical 3D printing for the RepRapMagazine, if you have any examples of things you have done to assist you in your daily lives or for someone else. especially if the object you made was custom or specifically designed where an equivalent from a shop was not suitable for whatever reason. - We plan to feature as many as possible in a futurby richrap - RepRap magazine
As mentioned above, rubber bands work really well too. You may also find that you don't need them at all. I have one machine without any fitted and I can't really tell the difference. Maybe it will be required when the rod joints wear down, but that's not happened yet. My test springs were from an old spring-kit sold here in the UK (Maplin) for a few £ the set.by richrap - Delta Machines

@bluscape I only have a preference when printing different materials, they all work well. I print PLA and Nylon with the 3DR so Use the J-head MK5 - I still find it's the best for Nylon printing and is fast for PLA, lightweight and easy to make Bowden The Prusa V2 nozzle is very good for PET and ABS, for PLA it oozes just a bit more than the E3D. The E3D nozzle is bigger and heavier so I haveby richrap - Delta Machines
Hello Everyone, Thanks all so much for building up 3DR's and posting here, I have been keeping up with all your developments, so great work all and I hope you like the printer. I'm really impressed with all your builds, changes and upgrades! For anyone still needing a little help Part 3 (Electronics) is now posted and I will have Part 4 (Firmware) up soon. Any questions, do let me know. Cheby richrap - Delta Machines
You should be printing PLA at 195 with the Prusa V2 nozzle, not at 220-240, that's really way too hot for any hot-end. PLA starts to breakdown after 220. Have you calibrated your thermistor, so you know the temperature is correct? Have you limited the power to the hot-end PID? (use 160 rather than 255) Have you ran an auto-tune M303 command to get the firmware settings for your hot-end. It shby richrap - General

Hi everyone, I'm so pleased with the response to the 3DR release, I'm a little swamped with messages etc. so just wanted to say thank you to all interested in it and improving on my starting point. It's great to see people already converting the files to other formats and packages. Thank you all and keep up the modifications and improvements, this is exactly how it's all supposed to happen wby richrap - General
Is this really abandoned? Has anyone any views on the Githubiverse Template Gary Hodgson produced - see here And if you want to see what a Githubiverse page looks like, I recently posted my 3DR delta project using the template, see here.by richrap - Object repositories
Yes, it should be possible to adapt for almost any type of rigid vertical frame. It's only been released a few days and already people are doing just that. Nicolas Arias is building a version with square 20mm x 20mm Aluminium tubes instead of the T-slot - Take a look on his G+ Page here - As for how much plastic, About 350g I expect, depending on fill level.by richrap - Delta Machines
Hi Mike, The show is aiming to attract more makers, developers, and users, so feel free to fill in the form however you like. This show should be good for us in the RepRap community, but people do need to register, come along and join in, see you all there. I registered and did - Job Title = RepRap Company = RepRap Tick for the magazine - it's a good read Company primary activity = Otherby richrap - General
Hi Everyone, My 3DR Delta printer is now released, the design model files and source, images etc. can be found here on GitHub An initial post about 3DR is available on my Blog here More posts will follow to show construction, setup and use etc. Please let me know if you decide to build one, And let me know if you have any questions. Many thanks, Rich.by richrap - Delta Machines
This is a cross post for a community meeting we are planning, if you want to read more please see here - it should be great fun. Cheers, Rich.by richrap - Reprappers

I was saying hello and introducing RepRap and it's ideas, I'm all for innovation, and yes been doing this for a while now, and also know that Stratasys have great products and ideas too, I'm a huge fan of their technology. I also know why Stratasys nozzles are clean, they get wiped down very aggressively before a print, this also wears them out over time so they need to be replaced after X numbeby richrap - General
@cambo3d - I'm glad you see a link, links are good, it's all good, development, sales, information, what's your problem? You have only posted 4 messages and two of them are badgering someone. - we don't need RepRap Police.by richrap - General
Hi Keyvan, Welcome to the RepRap Forums and our massive community of RepRappers - The goals of RepRap are to produce a self replicating machine, not just a more professional printer. It would be just as worthwhile to make one out of Bamboo and string as it would to do a high-end CNC engineered machine, so with that in mind do take a very good look through the Wiki at www.reprap.org You reallyby richrap - General
We are all trying to collaborate here, so don't panic! - It actually makes a lot of sense to have different hot-end information in the same thread, it's all good knowledge for people to find and learn. Hot-end designs are the most tricky areas for a 3DPrinter, anyone that has made their own or tried a design that was less than optimal will appreciate the sort of information Sanjay, Erza and Nophby richrap - General

cambo3d Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but you guys aren't using a bowden setup like > polygonhell and some others. Yes, using both Bowden on a Rostock and Greg's Geared on a MendelMax Main difference is that I'm not using the E3D fan and mount - just a normal 40mm carriage fan mounted on my Quick-Fir X carriage - use that for all extruders. I'll add my week of testing to this thread - I'm basically running it in exactly the same way as a J-head MKV - It can deal with a little less extruder reversal for PLA and ABS - I'm still tuning it for Nylon. I have ran it as 15mm/sec to 80mm/sec with PLA, and with 0.5mm to 2.5mm retraction no issues at all. I'm using exactly the same Temperature settings as the J-head, but it does seem to gby richrap - General
While testing the E3D hot-end I printed this bi-cube, standard settings on my (getting very worn out) MendelMax Black machine. 25% line infill - Bi Cube model 100% size 0.25mm Layers 65mm/sec infill speed 60mm/sec perimeter 2.5mm extruder retraction. 15 seconds minimum layer time - (needs to be a bit longer really - some curling) Using the E3D Nozzle - 0.4mm / Stainless Steel Gold PLA 1.75mm - 1by richrap - Competitions
