Next time use a thinner solution of glue and water! but when I have some parts that stick that well spray some water or glass cleaning fluid around the bottom of the part - capillary action kicks in and the part usually pops off in a few seconds.by richrap - General

Hi tprime - An update from me on this - I had my full refund from Peter at reprap.me (snipermand on eBay). Peter is aware of the issues and is discussing these with his supplier. I have also made Peter aware that only adding the set screw does not resolve most of the fundamental issues with this hot-end design, the main problem is still the extremely long internal nozzle length of around 3mm -by richrap - General
Agree with Pointedstick. What hot-end are you using? - exactly, and a photo of the nozzle if possible. Some other things to consider or at least rule out - Do you see this problem only with parts using high infill >35% ? - if so you may be over extruding, see below. Are you seeing the layer shift at the same point on the print? - if so you may be over-extruding and the nozzle is catchingby richrap - Printing
I found that around 12 degrees C ambient prints will start to warp, fail and generally be of a lower print quality. At 8 degrees C, I could not print a plate of parts at all with some colour PLA's, even individual parts were tricky. I don't print below 15 degrees C now.by richrap - General
What hot-end is it and where did you get it from - it's not a J-head clone is it?by richrap - General
@tprime - After two further messages I had a message back from 'RepRap.me' offering a refund if I return them, which I will do tomorrow. I will update this when I get my refund or if I get any other issues. The high pressure required for this design makes it impossible for practical use. I was running a geared NEMA17 stepper at 1.3A and with 1.75mm filament, it would skip steps at speeds above aby richrap - General
@tprime - Thanks for the update. 'RepRap me' has refused to refund or replace them for me, stating the 14 day period has expired, this is true, but these devices simply do not work as implied by the good name they are using to promote (J-head). They are certainly not like any j-head I have ever used. I sent another two messages via eBay, pointing out the statement that a hollow set screw is in tby richrap - General
Hello tprime, I bought two of these from 'RepRap me' (via eBay) and tried them at the weekend, had a similar experience to you. I have used tens of J-heads (as far as I know all of them were made and came from Brian, via a number of UK re-sellers) and had no issues at all with any of them even after 9 months of every-day printing. This model of the j-head design from 'RepRap me' does not haveby richrap - General
Great Stuff. I have not done it for a while, but I used to cut my Gcode up into two files, just where the insert needs to be made. But pause and home also works well. Cheers Rich.by richrap - Competitions
Completed the survey, but you need to sort out the educational level, In the UK we don't get enough options either. Some good questions, let us know the results.by richrap - General

It's been said before, but having a patent is only good if you have around $8M to fight any infringements of it. 3DS have that much to spend, I doubt Formlabs have enough to defend a claim against them. Having a $1M idea is not good enough nowadays, it needs to be a $10M idea. Sad day for Formlabs, I hope they find a way to keep going.by richrap - General

Hi Crispy1 - Thanks again, I had to remake the config file and it's working. But for exactly the same settings V0.9.1 takes 2mins to Slice and gives me Gcode size of 721KB the exact same model using V0.9.5 takes 7mins 20 sec and produces a file 3.527MB. In Repeater Host the Gcode output looks the same on screen, but something must be doing a LOT more moves in the new file, I don't fancy printinby richrap - Slic3r
Thanks Crispy1, I can't see any obvious issues with the loaded settings, I'll try to make a new config from scratch. It must be something towards the end of the Slice, as it always performs most of the operations, seems to fail writing the file out. Cheers, Rich.by richrap - Slic3r
I'm going to keep this competition open, as it looks like we still have yet to get good prints of this object and even the fabric. I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that Slic3r can't actually handle this fabric - anyone that has sucesfully used Slic3r (any version) please give us some pointers, I have a stack of printer fabric, and I can see from the GCODE, it's never going to be fully flexibby richrap - Competitions
I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but the new versions of Slic3r (I have tried 0.9.4 & 0.9.5) give me this similar message for EVERY part I try to slice - I'm using my same settings from 0.9.1 and that slices all my objects perfectly. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? it must be something silly Helpby richrap - Slic3r
