Hello again David,
Thank you ever so much printing my problem item. I just knew that it must be something silly that I had done, so it appears that I have scil3r setting wrong. After all in the slic3r viewer the part looked good with no reported errors. It is strange though that I haven't had any problems printing other items that I have made/modified in openscad and then sliced with slic3r.

Dan
I had the same problem when I changed my nozzle mount, the nozzle was too low, using my old mount I used 4 washers on each bolt which had the effect of raising the nozzle.
Now with my modified version of stevelup's excellent design of the sensor pad I only use 1 washer on each bolt..
So my advise would be to put 4 washers on each bolt to raise the nozzle and you probably will not need the m

Hi FalseIdle
Would the attached stl file solve your problem?
This is a modified version to make it thicker and with a cut-out underneath to allow for the motor spindle.
I also lowered my hot end by using a couple of washers on the hot end mounting bolts, in between the hot end mount and the heat block insulator.
hope that helps

No, it just said Manifold: yes
It will be interesting to see if it prints for you, thank you for taking the time.

Hello David,
Sorry it has taken so long to reply.
slic3r says Manifold: yes - I'm not sure what Manifold actually means
I noticed a repair stl option in the file menu so I selected this and then selected the stl file for repair. It was repaired and saved as a .obj file.
Loaded this file into slic3r and by the side of Manifold was a yellow triangle with what looks like an exclamation mark in th

Thanks David,
I have made sure that the cutouts do extend beyond the face, in fact I have not altered the main block from Matts original except to change the z variable to 20 from 15.1.
I also always action F6, otherwise you can not export a stl file.
Again it looks good in the slic3r viewer.
It's certainly strange and I'm sure will turn out to be a minor problem. Could it have something to do w

I have been modifying the one piece hot end. I am just starting with scad and feel that I am doing something stupid and making mistakes that a more experienced person would not make.
The modifications look good in scad and the slic3r viewer, but when I come to print I get bridging at a height of 4mm across a 40x40 mm hole and again 3mm from the top of the hole. Also, you can see from problem-p

Hi,
Just downloaded the new firmware and web interface, but the interface is reporting 0.57y-dc42 and reprap.htm 0.67
Is this the correct file and a naming problem or are they the old files?
Thanks for your efforts

What is the best way to polish / smooth a finished object printed in pla?
All suggestions welcome.

Hi David,
I am a happy man, ultrasonic set up worked well, now everything is automated using your suggestions for setbed, config, homeall and homex.
I'm just printing thinwall as a test of the levelling, so far it is looking good.
Again I can't thank you enough for the great work and support you are giving to the community.

Hi David,
Thank you for your response.
You were absolutely correct, one of the crimps on the ultrasonic was the problem.
Now to start again, I have verified that the switching from IR to Ultrasonic is working and I am getting different reading for the Z probe.
I will continue to set up on Monday, and fingers crossed I will not need your help again on this matter.

Hi again David,
Well I have been getting into all sorts of trouble here. I can confirm I am using your latest firmware and Matts web page.
When I issued the M556 P3 or the M558 P1 the Zprobe reading didn't change. This was inputting the command on the interface where it says send G code.
I thought this was probably not the correct way to do this so I connected via usb and sent the commands usin

Hi David,
Thank you as ever for your response.
I have adjusted the temperatures and at room temp both readings are correct +/- 0.3, I could not do the more accurate setup because I don't, at the moment, have any resistors.
I have tried to set up the ultrasonics with the bed cold as you suggested and I still have not detected any decrease in the values:-
Z=10 - 9.1 35 36 37 38 38 38 39 40 40 41

Hi Dave (dc42),
Kit 5 installed and working, the lights are a great addition, the IR works well but I am having difficulty with the ultrasonic set up.
I have used your mounting for the probe and the face of the unit sits about 3mm off the bed, same height as the IR unit.
I followed your calibration instructions but did not notice and decrease in the readings as I reduced Z height, I even started

Hi tracyb,
Did you manage to increase the depth of the Duet enclosure? If you have already printed yours with an additional 12mm could I have a copy of the stl file please.
Thank you for your help

Matt and tracyb, did you manage to amend the hot end so some of the air could be directed towards the nozzle?

Mr Crispi,
Just a thought, which fan assembly are you using? If it is the one piece hot end, did you turn the heat sink through 90 degrees and drill another hole in order to mount all of the hot end together.

If anybody modifies the hot end to direct cooling more to the nozzle would they be kind enough to explain the steps they took so I can learn from a real world example.
Thank you

Matt,
I have been looking at your one piece hot end in scad, I wanted to raise the outside chamfers on the 2 vents and reduce the height of the 2 inner walls. The reason for this is to direct some cooling onto the nozzle.
However, being a newby to any form of cad I just can't seem to work out what I need to do to achieve this. If you have some time could you point me in the right direction plea

I agree with dc42, another 7mm will be just right.
I'm away at the moment but will print your new design as soon as I can get back to my Ormerod.
Thank you for your efforts.

Hi tracyb,
On my print of the enclosure all openings bridged very well so I don't think you will have a problem.
If you could make the enclosure deep enough for the sensor connections as in DC42 post, I would like the stl, perhaps you could post it here. Some users have made quite large fan covers and one post suggested angling the enclosure so that the whole assembly leans away from the bed, so

I reprinted the Duet housing a few weeks ago using the standard Ormerod settings for slic3r and the holes printed perfectly with no sag. How are you making the housing deeper? I have loaded up the stl files but have not been able to change anything. What program are you using?

Thought I would try Blender. The stl file loaded but the program looks so daunting and will be a long learning curve.
Are there any other suggestions for design software that is intuitive, not heavily dependent on math skills, that can adjust the current stl files for the Ormerod printed parts?

What and where can I find the design files for the Ormerod printed parts and what software should I use, I have designsparks and openscad but they don't like the stl files.
How are members modifying the parts?

Hi DC,
I requested a kit 5, the full works, a super duper addition, an all singing, all dancing piece of electronics but I will be away for a few weeks starting next Thursday and was wondering when you need addresses and payment and how would you like the payment made?
