Have a look at the duet wifi instead of the smoothie.
Just a suggestion for your consideration.

I have had a beta board for a few days.
What a great piece of hardware that is future proof, well designed and has flexible options.
The initial setup went well and my new coreXY machine was soon humming with delight.
I have completed about 8 hours of prints with the duet WiFi so far, ranging from a simple calibration box to more complicated items, at the moment I am printing a 3DBenchy

dual motors can get out of sync which will cause the bed to lose its carefully set level. Don't get me wrong, you can make it work. However, this is a calibration and selection guide for creating a highly accurate CoreXY printer. the possibility of losing a step or even a microstep in one motor and not the other makes the dual motor system a less accurate choice in my opinion and

Well I have finished the basics and my D-Bot clone is up and running.
I have added metal corner brackets to help stiffen the frame.
I am using 2 nema17's with integrated lead screws, wired in series. This seems to be working well although they are getting extremely hot.
At the moment I am printing an elephant and have a large number of retractions and Z movement per layer, which I think is the re

I really should read the gcode guide more, my copy is way out of date. I was unaware that the T parameter existed, What is the B parameter for and how is it found or calculated?
My thermistor measured 115 k ohms so should T115000 be used or is T100000 good enough?
again thank you for your valuable help

My ormerod worked great but I thought I would build a corexy machine for better quality prints.
I already had a duet v6 from repeko, bought some time ago. I fitted it to my newly constructed D-Bot but the Ethernet connection did not work.
So I removed the duet v6 from my ormerod which worked great in the D-Bot as far as being able to use the web control which I am used to.
During all of the setu

My D-Bot core XY machine s progressing but I have an issue with setting Z0.
In my ormerod, that used dc42's sensor board I used the following:-
G91
G1 Z3 F200
G90
G1 X100 Y105 F12000
G30
In the coreXY the Z0 is at the top of bed travel and will be triggered by the end stop switch. How do I set this out in the homez file?

Thanks, My bad, I cannot tell the difference between a blue and black wire!!!! Now I can go up and down correctly.
I saw sometime ago a post on how to calculate the steps per mm setting for a standard stepper motor with lead screw attached but I can't find it.
Can anybody point me in the right direction please.

Is it safe just to use the 2 middle pins for the hot end + and - connection or should I link the two negative pins and link the two positive pins?

Thank you for the help, however,
I am totally confused now.
The 2 lead screw motors are the same bought from the same supplier, but it appears that the internal wiring of one of them may be wrong, reversing one of the coils solved this and now both motors are moving in the same direction.
Regardless of if I press a - or + button on the web control, the bed always moves down. So could this still

Thanks you for the help, I now have the end stops wired correctly
I had to change the homey to be G1 Y240 F3000 S1, it was G1 Y-240.If I home Y I cannot then move in the negative direction
I have M574 X1 Y1 Z1 S1 in my config file but am not sure if that is correct seeing that Y end stop is positive.
The Z endstop will also be triggered when the bed is high, so again not sure how to let the firmw

I am at the stage of commissioning my d-bot build and have hit a snag.
I have wired the Z,X and Y mechanical switches the same as the Y switch was wired in the ormerod 1 with duet version 6
The first thing I noticed is that the led on the duet that indicate the end stop were all bright and when the switches were activated they only dimmed instead of what I would have expected that they would ha

I have a modified design of the ormerod extruder which has the filament going straight. It is a spring loaded type and has a mount for the aluminium extrusion that I have used for my D-Bot build.
I will post the files if you want but I am away at the moment so will not be able to load the design until the first week of June.

I think I will go without a twist so that the belt runs with the teeth against the flanged idler bearings.

Did we ever get a definitive answer as to twist the drive belts so that they run against the smooth side of the belt or not to twist, so that the teeth of the belt run against the idler bearings.

Using nema17 stepper motors, what is the best size of drive pulley to use with a GT2 belt ?
How do you calculate the resolution?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of different of different number of teeth?

I started in total ignorance 2 years ago. I bought an ormerod 1 and over the past 2 years have spent a lot of time modifying and improving the plastic parts to give a higher print quality.
I can remember wondering what I do with a gcode or a stl file and how to set up the firmware config file whilst coming to terms with the jargon of the 3D world.. The learning went on and on and now I use opens

I am importing a stl file and adding a cube and then cutting a slot but when I try and render, F6, All I get is the new addition, the original stl is not displayed.
This is the code:-
difference(){
union(){
import("1-Hotend_Clamp_E3Dv6.stl",convexity=10);
translate([2.2,1.68,0]) cube([9.5,3.7,6]);
}
translate([0,5.68,1.5]) rotate(-45,0,0) cube([9,1.3,3]

Just thought I would share my build experience so far.
Thanks to the_digital_dentist for the suggestion of 3 point bed levelling, which I have implemented.
I have silicone hight temperature glue on order to glue cork sheet to the underside of the bed heater for insulation.
I cut the extrusions as per the guide in the instructions and built the frame without any problems.
I had decided that I woul

I am way on my way to completing my D-Bot variant and have just threaded the GT2 belts, attached one end of each to the X carriage and was about to attach the other ends when it dawned on me that I didn't have a clue how tight they should be and indeed how to adjust the belts after some use?

The number of time I press F6 (render) instead of F5 (preview) is driving me mad, I just have to sit there and wait for a full render to complete.
Would it be possible to have one of the following?
1. A cancel render button
At the bottom, to the right of the progress bar, there is a red X showing during the render, hit that and it stops rendering. It doesn't stop

I'm well on my way to building a D-bot and have got to the stage of fitting a 200 x 300 mm heated bed.
It looks as if the design has it sitting on 4 springs with level adjustment bolts to attach to the bed supports.
The heater is very flimsy and is sagging in the middle of the long sides and with a glass plate on top I would have lost contact with the heat bed at the centres.
I am wondering if a
