230VAC.The adhesive came with the heater, i would expect it to be 3M 9473 or similar.by Srek - Mechanics
Silicon heater under a 5mm aluminum plate works fine for me for 8 years now. On top i usually clamp a PEI plate for ABS printing. If i were to modify that printer again i might replace the clamping with a magnetic setups, but otherwise it is perfect for me.by Srek - Mechanics
If you ignore the play in the joints and the spline as well as the increased rotational mass and the high cost for the gear, joints and spline it all makes sense, somehow.by Srek - Mechanics
Änderung in Sicht?by Srek - Kommerzielle Angebote & Produktvorstellungen
Rumba is a an old Atmega based board, the RAPS is a 32 bit board. Marlin is used on a large variety of platforms, 32 bit is supported since V2. Chances are you will have to specify your own Marlin configuration for your printer.by Srek - Reprappers
Thermistors and Stepper motors/drivers are no problem at 24V. The fans however will burn out and need to be replaced with 24V models, just like the hot end heater cartridge. If the TFT has an own PSU connector you need to match that voltage. The common displays that connect directly to the board get their correct voltage from the controller board already.by Srek - Reprappers
I designed and printed a lot of molds for silicon casting. It is pretty easy to do. I also print a lot of very soft Filaments, none of which is close to silicon in softness, i doubt you will find anything that will work for you. Flexible filament is actually a very nice material for molds, but not always easy to print.by Srek - Printing
The RUMBAs six driver slots make it easy to configure a second driver for an axis. In most firmwares you just have to enable this for the specific axis and select which driver slot serves the second motor. In Repetier look for FEATURE_TWO_YSTEPPER In Marlin look for Y_DUAL_STEPPER_DRIVERSby Srek - Reprappers
Without the heatbed powered by the PSU you will always notice this. 30A is way over the top if you don't power the heatbed so the resulting switch off lag will likely be more than a tenth of a second. It shouldn't create any problems though, just a bit annyoing and the efficiency of the PSU won't be very good.by Srek - General
That is quite normal, the capacitors in the PSU keep it running a bit. Usually the load on the PSU will cut this short to a few 1/10 sec though. Is the PSU way over spec for the needs of your electronics?by Srek - General
QuoteSupraGuy Just remember that pressure is not equal to flow. A fan might not be able to deal with a lot of back pressure, but in free air, it can generate a lot of air flow, which is what we need for cooling. A pump can generate a lot of pressure, but not always a lot of flow. Yes and no. You are quite right about the amount of air moved, but with compressed air you can use a much smaller areby Srek - Reprappers
The problem with fans of all kinds is that even at low pressure they start creating turbulences instead of airflow, basically the fan just turns in chaotic air and you get basically no pressure anymore. With radial fans you get a little bit more pressure than with axial, but far less than with any kind of pump. The order of magnitude you noticed is quite realistic.by Srek - Reprappers
What materials did you print with that near field cooling?by Srek - Reprappers
The Merlin itself i developed out of neccesity, at the time there simply was no reliable hotend to be had. My current printers are just one point in many years of RepRap evolution. In the video the housing was not applied yet, one of the reasons why i use cubic frames is the easy way to enclose it. The attached image shows it how it looks printing right now. One drawer has the RaspberryPi Screenby Srek - Reprappers
The Merlin is running in my oldest printer for >7 years now without any cooling and it is printing ABS. The M10 thread acts as cooling fins and the movement of the head is enough. I don't advertise this since it is not realy a robust solution, but it can work.by Srek - Reprappers
With a solenoid you only have off and on, but for me that is sufficient.by Srek - Reprappers
No, the heater block is in the way for this and has to be covered in silicone for this to work. The model is cooled by a seperate stream and has a solenoid so you can turn it off. I print ABS most of the time so i seldomly use model cooling it.by Srek - Reprappers
This shows the inenr setup. The Merlin is screwed in via the M10 thread, you can see the air channel that goes through the base of the extruder and delivers the air to the hotend. The air exits at the very end of the PEEK part of the hotend, cooling exactly the most needed part. This enables the PEEK/PTFE hotend to print 260° easily.by Srek - Reprappers
You can see it in action here The part cooler has changed in the mean time and is fully integrated into a printhead cover now that also manages all cabeling. Compressed air makes it easy to point the part cooler to a very small area.by Srek - Reprappers
I use this pump to cool a single hotend And this For two hotends and part cooling at the same time The second one is a bit loud for a living room, but if you place it a bit hidden it is silent enough. I much prefer compressed air over fans for reliability and efficiency. I was able to design a super effective extruder that includes the cooling for the merlin.by Srek - Reprappers
I only saw the Single Sided remark later, but even then i would prefer an uncoated or second plate for easier exchange. Having to clean of tape, glue, etc. before i can use the PEI side again would be a hindrance. What kind of magnet are you using? For me cheap magnetic foil with a temperature resistant adhesive does the trick nicely, especially with the magnetic steel sheets. Even with 105°C beby Srek - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
While i think the general idea is one of the best (i created such a system for my own use), the price is on the high side. Also you might like to offer additional uncoated but polished plates for filaments that don't work well with PEI.by Srek - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
The main difference i saw as a customer of both is that AliExpress is geared towards providing low volume. You won't get single items or small numbers from Alibaba, but if you need a crate of something you get the better deal there. It is not so much about if you as a customer are a business or not, it is about the volume. Also there are many related issues like shipping, customs, taxes, warrantiby Srek - Offtopic
