If you've posted anything to thingiverse listen up! The lovely folks over at defcad have scraped the site and have posted your designs to defcad.org WITHOUT ATTRIBUTION.by akhlut - General

If it were me, I'd go with a 120v silicone or kapton heater. All you need is an SSR, and depending on the amps you're pumping through it an SSR heatsink. Tops $20. The advantages of stepping up to 120V: More efficient. Larger range of wattages available. Faster heating. Disadvantages of 120V: More dangerous. More expensive. I've got a 10" x 10" 1000W 120VAC silicone heater adhered atby akhlut - General
Have you autotuned the nozzle with the fan running?by akhlut - General

The Pi will draw 500~750mA. According to the RAMBo schematic, you can find 5V and GND on X1. You can also find 5V and GND many of the expansion headers (SPI, I2C, Serial, PWM, Motor). 5V amd GND can be dound on the Pi GPIO header, pins 2 and 6. Just meter everything out to verify voltage and polarity before you hook anything up. Reversing them could be...expensive.by akhlut - Controllers
DV, Ito be honest, I'm not sure. I was looking at the Plastic Extruder Group, but that seems like such a mishmash. Besides, it's for extruders and not hotends. Come to think about it hotends are a pretty specialized item, one that has been pretty well ignored by the forum structure given how important they are to the machine. I can understand why - there were very few people working on themby akhlut - General
This is not a "for sale" thread. I opened it to let everyone know that they had gone on sale. At the time everyone was eagerly awaiting the release of the nozzle. I saw it was available and I posted about it so those who wanted one could get one before they were sold out.. End of story. Then it became a support thread, where those who bought them could share their experiences/opinions aboutby akhlut - General
Jo tweeted that the MKII version of the nozzle will be available soon. Hopefully at a discount for all of us beta testers.by akhlut - General
I'm still working on it, so bear with me. Add to that I'm leaving for short vacation at the end of the week, but I'm going to try to get as much translation as possible done.by akhlut - General
Try full-step. What Z-screws are you using?by akhlut - General
I totally forgot about needing to post this the other day. Sorry about that jza. // PID settings: // Comment the following line to disable PID and enable bang-bang. #define PIDTEMP #define PID_MAX 64 // limits current to nozzle; 255=full current #ifdef PIDTEMP //#define PID_DEBUG // Sends debug data to the serial port. //#define PID_OPENLOOP 1 // Puts PID in open loop. So I got the bottom modeled tonight. M8 rods is the only change. Going to work on the top tomorrow (later today).by akhlut - General
I'm not going to import it. I'm going to reproduce it.by akhlut - General
jza, I'm not sure right now as I'm at work. :/ But I'll report back tonight.by akhlut - General
Personally, I want to use 8mm rods. But for the life of me I cannot enlarge the holes in any of the models. My Sketchup-fu is lacking. I might just convert the models to Inventor and be done with it.by akhlut - General
Kapton on AL works just fine. But now I wouldn't print on anything but mirror tiles. 2.25mm thick and I haven't replaced one in about 6 months, and that was me being stupid (too much ABS juice+too high heat=permanent adhesion). Same glass on both machines. One 300mmx300mm, the other 250mmx250mm. ABS only. Same procedure nophead outlines. A little juice then a wipe with an acetone rag. Zby akhlut - Reprappers

I think you are beat. It's designed it so that the MAX6675's (that drive the thermocouples) communicate via SPI, so you can't just connect the thermistor to those ports and hack the circuit. Bonus points in that there are also no analog input pins available to connect the thermistors to. And then there is the support circuitry you'd need to drive the thermistors. Does Sailfish even supporby akhlut - General
@MattMoses I never said anyone (even Zach) was an angel. People tend toward self-interest when an opportunity presents itself. I think that we're very lucky that the vast majority of people involved in reprap seem to be more altruistic than opportunistic. I think the reason people get so pissed off about MBI is that to the general public Bre is the face of 3D printing. Add to that the percepby akhlut - General

Hey Will! I just went over and registered. Hopefully it will take off.by akhlut - General
Bre is just a confidence man. He sold Hoeken out. He sold Makerbot out. Now he's just selling himself out. DA, I couldn't agree more about Thingiverse. It's bloated and pretty useless at this point. @ Tom Brown, you have a lot of reading to do. Bre is a parasite.by akhlut - General
