It is good to have Industrial Designer friends. LOVE IT!by Curlrup - Reprappers

Well I have all of my parts and and all of my electronics. I need to get soldering. I ordered all of my electronics from Makerbot. I am using their power supply, I am confused as heck as to what goes where and what needs to be added for power to all of the boards. All I see is a mess of wires. Thanks Curlyby Curlrup - Controllers
Yeah Zcorp really isn't used much in the high dollar machine world for more than just shape studies. Heads up pics coming soon but I started bolting things together today. The Objet parts look awesome and are working great.by Curlrup - Reprappers

Sorry folks I am very lucky I was able to run my parts. It was made very clear that my machine was the only one to be run and that it was going to also double as a research/learning project for myself and my coworkers.by Curlrup - Reprappers

Why not use a support like SLA? SLS support is the material itself built in a small delicate but strong latice structure that you just break off. Everyone uses rafts for the first few layers that peel off why not do this all in software and just have a suport structure that is made from actual material that breaks away easily. No fabbing more heads, no firm ware and software updates other than jby Curlrup - General
My parts are built faster than expected. My hardware is ordered and my electronics are ordered. Well all but my stepper controllers. I'm going all Makerbot Gen 3 on this. Also the pinchwheel extruder. Here are the finished parts. I will also be making some panels or skins for mine to make it look less skeletal and more like a mainstream machine. Skins should help control the temps in thby Curlrup - Reprappers
Will the makerbot firmware work with the RepRap Host software? Or will I have to go to something else? Thanks CUrlyby Curlrup - Controllers

Sorry folks I am so new to electronics, specing and building them that I have to ask the dumb questions. What is the USB-TTL cable for on Gen 3 Electronics? Can't I just dump my G-code on an SD and walk away do I still need a direct link to a computer?by Curlrup - Controllers
I was just going to ask the same thing. What advantage is there to desoldering everything and reworking it for Reprap? I ordered the same stuff and just realized what was suggested for these components.by Curlrup - Controllers
Also covers would help keep bed temps consistant. That will help with warping. All of the FDM machines I use at work are heated to around 200 degrees F. They are like ovens with extruders in them.by Curlrup - Reprappers
One of the large frame machines at work should do it. Then bring them to my paint shop and I can get a nice metalic grey finish on the panels. I also have an Acrylic bender and a laser cutter to make the window/door.by Curlrup - Reprappers
I am by no means an Industrial Designer but I can use Illustrator pretty well. Since my Objet printed Darwin will be in my office by other RP machines I have decided to make some skins for it. Here is the illustration of what it will look like. All of my hardware is ordered as soon as I get some electronics I am off to the races. Curlyby Curlrup - Reprappers
Thanks guys I think my Z axis will be ball chain.by Curlrup - Mechanics
Hmmmm. How accurate is the ball chain?by Curlrup - Mechanics
Hello, I really need an STL or CAD file of the z stage pulleys for a Darwin. The current STL package only has the molds and I was hoping someone took the time to model one up so you can print it instead of molding it. Thanks a bunch Curlyby Curlrup - Mechanics
I know I said all Objet parts for my Reprap but what do you do when your FDM goes down and the the repair guy loads grey ABS and needs a 12-15 hour "test build"? You make some corner brackets. So 4 of my corner brackets will be FDM. Here it is buildingby Curlrup - Reprappers
The Objet uses a very thin liquid photopolymer. Almost the same forumulation as an SLA machine photopolymer. It sprays out each layer from a print head similar to an ink jet printer head. SInce there is a dot pattern and the liquid is very thin it uses the support material as a corral to keep that liquid there until it cures. However it needs a good raft to get those first few layers started aby Curlrup - Reprappers
