John, Thank you for all your hours working on the 3DR Simple. My Blue is finished but not working very well yet. I would like to convert from Spectra line to belts. I have the belts, pulleys and top bearings, this is the same as my Mini Kossel design, so I have experience with belts. I would like to know your experience converting and how you connected to the 3DR Carriages carriages - or dby RTurnock - Delta Machines
Thanks John, I will test some more and see if I can get it working. I have another question. What if I want to try to use a Ubis hot end on a Mini Kossel? The 3DR Simple effector is too small compared to my carriages, that is the distance between the diagonal rods is less for the 3DR effector than the standard Mini Kossel effector. I am not familiar with using CAD and have been relying completelby RTurnock - Delta Machines
Some of us have had problems with the conflict between the Y endstop and using the SD card. The fix is to move the connector Y endstop to the E endstop and change pin for Y_stop to 37 ( from 20). If that was done, and I did, could you describe how to use the expansion header pin as the Zmin? What I want to do is install FSRs per Johann's auto leveling and use the Z_min like he has in his currentby RTurnock - Delta Machines
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> To get the extruder to feed the correct amount of filament I had to set the M92 E value pretty high, I think somewhere near 700. The default firmware value was 90 or so. Does that line up with what everyone else has been seeing with this build or is that indicative that I've got something wonky going on? >>>>>>>>by RTurnock - Delta Machines
Quotepsykhon Hi everybody! I started building a 3dr simple some time ago and yesterday it made its firsts couple of prints, post:3DR Simple (warning: its in spanish) just like to thank a lot to Richard and John for the awesome work they made on the 3DR Me gusto los colores. Finally, after being distracted by repairing my Mini Kossel and a new delta drawing robot project........ My Blue 3DR Simple is working. First print today of 5mm pyramid. Only problem is that I do not have 12volts at the fan pins so I may need alternatives, like direct wiring or desktop fan. Thank you to JohnSL for the idea and design files. attached are pictures and a link to a 5minute video oby RTurnock - Delta Machines

My extruder is not assembled yet because the motor shaft is not long enough or the plastic body is too thick where the motor attaches. JohnSL, Maybe I missed this detail when discussed earlier. I am using a MAC desktop connected via USB to Printrboard. The Printrbot.com instructions for flash firmware are not well easy to follow for me, unfamiliar with the process. I plugged in power, installed jumper, pushed reset and tried to connect to upload using Arduino IDE. Of course it did not work. Left out the step where I remove theby RTurnock - Delta Machines
QuoteJohnSL RTurnock, I'm a big fan of the T nuts that you can install after the fact. Here are the ones I use: Thanks, I saved that link and will keep that in mind if what I did does not work.by RTurnock - Delta Machines
QuoteTheCrey QuoteNewPerfection Really? Why not? I do that for all of my printers with Wade-style extruders. Works well. I do print them horizontally though, with a flat spot on the bottom so it sticks well to the bed. Do you have a stl file ? March 10 update on my blue 3DR Simple Need to finish wiring and attaching CF rods to the carriages. Forgot to put extra T-nuts in extrusions for attaching the extruder and anything else to the columns. So, I need to take the top off and add them, then put the top back on. Oh, also turning the endstop switches around, the carriage did not hit the metal properly. Going to print a part on my Mini Koby RTurnock - Delta Machines
Printrbot.com has changed the parts used in the Simple in several places. They sell a new metal extruder that I do not have. I ordered the Simple kit without the wood frame so I could build a 3DR Simple with plastic parts designed by JohnSL printed on my Mini Kossel and my Printrbot Simple. However, the new kits have a small 2.2 kg torque motor to use with the Y axis carriage and three 5.5kg torqby RTurnock - Delta Machines

Looking again at RichRap's LCD adapter part, the part is printed upside down. If you turn it over, it will attach to the under part of the top frame on a 3DR Delta and hold the LCD case. I was wrong about the holes in the adapter. The outside holes that show a nut trap go on the under part of the top frame piece. The two holes closer together are the ones that attach to the LCD.by RTurnock - Delta Machines
I am not sure either how he did it. Here is his adapter for mounting the LCD you will notice there is a way to bolt something on at a slant to the more solid part. The part that has two holes a long ways apart is to attach screws to the under part of the top farme pieces. Attached is a picture from JohnSL website that shows how a 3DR Simple top frame has long round columns for a screw. I foundby RTurnock - Delta Machines
"How is everyone mounting an LCD to their machine? I'm looking to mount mine to the top of mine since it's closest to the controller. I looked at Rich's github files and found an LCD adapter but I can't for the life of me figure out how he used it!" See attached. JohnSL, I am attempting to follow your design and convert my Simple to a Delta. I have started printing parts with my Mini Kossel that I just finished building - I have the bottom wings printed, effector and one or two other parts. I have ordered the parts from Misumi. Getting ready to do some more ordering however, I have a question. After having the spectra line on the Simple and experience wby RTurnock - Delta Machines
@JohnSL Thanks for all the great documentation. I got prices for all but the screws and nuts. Estimate about $220 to convert my Simple to a 3DR following your process. Buy 180 mm CF rods, and use GT2 belts, so extra costs compared to lowest cost estimate possible. Benefits are the delta speed and quality, and the print volume is about 80mm radius instead of 100X100. Trying to get the last kinksby RTurnock - Delta Machines
"I only have experience with 1.75mm filament and a Bowden tube" JohnSL, I have a Printrbot Simple, and I am following this thread so that sometime in 2014, if I decide to, I can convert it to your 3DR design. Calculating...... Disneytoy has a delta_radius of 103 and a delta_diagonal_rod of 206. But these are calculated values or limits in real space? If the 220 mm is the build platform, then the actual build space has a diameter of 206mm.by RTurnock - Delta Machines
