So what are the layer heights on the 1.2mm nozzle, I bet print speeds quite nippy.by MechaBits - General
or you could just add some 3mm holes, and pass some little bolts through, obviously not as good as direct bonding and placement might interfere with fit. Or another head with some 'super glue' by super glue I mean a material that would aid bonding between layers...it might have to be developed or may already exist? Or a focused laser to fuse layers, or UV mortar.by MechaBits - General
Do you have any pictures of what you mean? the first one I found was this Which put me right off, how can you sell a printer that has horrible looking printed parts? Doesn't inspire much confidence...Reverse Engineering...isnt that a euphemism for stealing Looks pretty normal to me.by MechaBits - General
I've seen those mounts around, but couldnt figure a use for them in my setup, if it was a little larger 80mm sqr with 4 extra holes I could use it for Z base, good thinking to adapt it, looks a little trickier on the other end. I managed to cobble together an idler from a standard motor L bracket, and a rod support (tension has to be added my moving or by alternate belt tensioner). I've only a feby MechaBits - General

it's just a logical extension of my BeatSkool... the idea was to teach more things that are relevant for today, Beatskool was never really just about music, but computer tools & media, creation, and now encompassing 3D printing & machining...if you had 40k to spend (zero interest, dont pay it back till you can afford to) would you spend it on an education, or 40k worth of tools... I bought the 12000 rpm for £7 its only 13mm dia' got to be handy for something, The Crazy thing is while looking for some Linear Actuators I found these Maxon's and these other motors called Ondrives, they have some nice machined add ons, wormgears & planetary...but they also have the name Micron(registered) So its a registered name owned by Thomsonlinear....which as far as I know is notby MechaBits - General
Just found out about Maxon motors(was it mentioned earlier), look very nice swiss made, lots of small ones with planetary gearboxes, but I have no idea the right combo of rpm, ratio's & newton meters, etc There's even a nice one that can do 12000rpm, wonder if i could use it as a mini etcher, only going to cost a fiver to find out. One thing I do know is this one's probably not going to cutby MechaBits - General
Just found this MakeBlock stuff, never seen it before, nice blue meccano type stuff, so should have added to other thread, some handy components. Anyone know how long this stuff has been going? Scratch that, seems it was on kickstarted last year raised $200kby MechaBits - General
You might need to add a flight controller just incase the thing takes offby MechaBits - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Based on my limited understanding of it, perhaps heater or thermistor isnt working, if you have zero, and the and its expecting 5 or above, then the error kicks in.by MechaBits - Reprappers
I havent got the endstops hooked up on machine at the moment, and I just put the head where I want it XYandZ, and when I say print it just does it, I havent used the above gcode to set to 0, I wonder what difference it would make if I did?by MechaBits - Printing
I ditched the standard plate for hotend, and used a 16mm rail support, I have 2 types both good for different arrangement.by MechaBits - Reprappers
You need to incorporate warps and curling into the design like this guyby MechaBits - Printing
I had the same issue yesterday for the first time, couldn't figure out why, I have my temp setting set weird, because I'm not heating anything at the moment, but that hadnt changed much, previously things where doing fine. Luckily all on the same day 5 thermistors arrived of known value, my hotend temp started reading 47, while the new NTC was only 17, the other one was normally giving a good reby MechaBits - Reprappers
Great Deal! My Local scrap merchants didn't know what the hell I was talking about, most only do car parts, any that may get it in at some point throw it in with all the other alu' for the big melt pot in the sky.by MechaBits - General

Thanks Viktor, handy to know for future use, not delved into gcode yet, though think my nibs a little fat for any precision, the printer method would probably yield a better result, that way I dont have all the head moves or have to wait for it to colour in everything, still cool to watch a drawing machine in action. Building a more portable dedicated doodler would be another way to go, with aby MechaBits - General
Probably the easiest way, no point using sledgehammer to crack a nut, and a good use for a printer that never seems to get any use these days, I hope printing in 3D will be different. Though all this will change if I do want to try etching milling, I really fancy trying Chillipeppr (mixed up the video link fixed) but would have to change controller, I wonder if there's a way to wire up a standaby MechaBits - General
First Test Print...thought it best to test with a pen first, but I have always wanted to be able to use the printer like this, to layout work. Ideally for example if I could add a piece of aluminium 120 square I would like it to draw out the pattern with marker, but I think I would need a way for the pen to start at corner of work piece, or a way to position piece, does anyone know of a betterby MechaBits - General

I'm waiting for an M6 female nozzle, that I want to put on the end of the 6mm throat(long), and I'm planning on having the PTFE (only want PLA) bowden tube going all the way through in one piece, just to see how it works out...might be a PIA when you need to trim it though, so might make more sense to have 2 pieces, decisions decisions.by MechaBits - General

This looks very similar to the stratasys motor.. and a small 46g Black one, Rather expensive, and maybe not the ideal solution, the encoder might make things tricky, probably underpowered too, my nema 17 pancake arrived to play with, but I think I got the wrong one, silver n black 1.8 deg, the other all black is 0.9 deg, I would rather have got that one, another version of the 17 has just showby MechaBits - General
I'm not sure it does, doesn't matter what they are made out of, they are self replicating...breeding, evolving, hopefully exponentially... Whovever started the phrase of the machine's taking over, wasn't wrong, and with the delay in receiving parts & spares I'm constantly wondering what do I need next.by MechaBits - General
Yeah almost, I spent at least a year(on & off, but mainly on) designing, and then started buying bits about June last year, almost enough bits left over for second alternate design, and I'm tempted to just build that, but having first one working would be a big help on the second. The crazy thing is I'm already wanting to try an alternate arrangement of the first one, but to tear down what Iby MechaBits - General
