No Wobble, good, the movement I'm talking about is more from a deliberate/unnatural tap, eg to the end or table, things generally move, even my hifi stand has some resonance if tapped(but I have no way to measure how much force i'm adding), but you can feel the vibrations, not so bad if everything vibrates in sync or how much it can flex/deviate under a little force around the axis joints Evenby MechaBits - Ormerod
When I tried threaded rods joining the supports I found the alignment was dependent on the pitch and I could only adjust in one rev increments, mainly because of the supports having threads in, yours are probably through holes so probably easier to align, but 1 turn is enough to be out, my pitch was much finer than a 8mm rod.by MechaBits - Reprappers
Hi Omerod users, a little survey into wobbles, I was wondering if anyone has any wobble in the design, mainly X & Z as these are free standing in Z and unsupported on the X in Y direction. ie with machine at standstill, what happens if you tap the end of X, do you see any wobble, or flick Z, then what about when carriage is in motion is there any wobble then? Also in order to minimize any woby MechaBits - Ormerod

did you have the hero mounted very close to heatbed? on moving carriage? how was the footage, any judder, another way I was thinking was off the moving bed but with a trigger to take pic at exact same point, for a much smoother timelapse.by MechaBits - General
LM8UU over specified, not my experience, maybe I just got a bag of duds, maybe the more expensive ones are fine, the ones in the block bearings seem much better so perhaps it was a dud batch, but the ones I had shouldn't be called bearings. I also had a ball or 2 drop out, so I'm using the longer ones' not much help to you if your carriages are made for the short ones, at some point i'll change tby MechaBits - General
$200 for the brinnio, it's a little tall which would cause a few issues, the ideal setup would be a very small hd camera like a go pro but just lens, though one with less distortion and one that can focus under 100mm, or a closeup lens add-on, a HD version of this would be nice low mass solution. . But if the timelapse is done in sw, then you could be doing some 4k movies, assuming camera can holby MechaBits - General
Interesting video, 11k prototype wow now I feel happy, though he has a few more extra's left over, $1400 in parts even at the 100 rate, I think mine was halve that at the retail rate, though for the price I paid for X&Y, linear rails is a future option for other builds, tiny dd extruder great, hopefully more will follow soon, new board & code, i'd like an all in one, but what if it blows,by MechaBits - General

cheers gmckee, I was getting a little muxdip, with 220w & 240v and 24v when what I was exploring would have been a 240v plug in heater solution, but maybe I'll just get another 24v power supply for the bed, the ssr(auber) in the other thread if I can get my hands on one, and hopefully the tips in the other thread to help me get my head around things, electronics phase me a little, as I'm a bby MechaBits - Reprappers
Probably, but you never can tell, I was worried about the same thing, when I put the arduino into an old atx power supply box, I found I had no way to get a standard usb cable in, so searched for some right angle USB cables, I was going for short just to keep overall length down, I needed the cable to be pointing either straight up or 90degrees/right. The first to come was this one, waiting wasby MechaBits - Mechanics
Cant you just make the object for the video in PLA, then you can possibly get away with camera on the bed or just off it on some bracket, otherwise you could always make another Y motion rig for the camera(can the Z be mapped as a Y) and send signal to both, not so easy with an enclosure though. Either way the effect is better than timelapse of bed going all over the place.by MechaBits - General
Might be a good idea to make it from chinese steel, the news is they dumping tons of it real cheap, and at the same time closing factories/forges (if they close too many prices might rise, so get it now while its going cheap). UK can't compete, just at the time a new process for more useful crumpling steel comes on line, we could have evolved instead they choose extinction, with a little push fby MechaBits - General
I want to take the load out of the ramps also(silicon heater in the future), just in case, so might try one of those units linked to. Found a 240v one here but also found these types 25A and 40A look very small, I assume there's no need to hook up to ramps, but have to program printer to start job without heating bed. Probe might need changing.by MechaBits - Reprappers
Dont take it like that, ppl do have to er on the side of caution, but if it gives you the determination & focus to pull it off, on time & budget, go for it, you sound like you already have a printer to print some parts, but dont have any plans of the type of printer your looking to build. Where do you want the builder located? I could do with a builder here in Liverpool UK, where are youby MechaBits - General
I suppose you want it completed by April the 1stby MechaBits - General
My thoughts exactly, you cant see the bar that would need to hold the inner wheels apart, but these pincers want to come together, the spring was supposed to illustrate that, but it needs some work as to best place to attach, a bolt running through for adjustment.by MechaBits - General
600Mmwx900mmLxby600mmh $1200 Usd for 2 designer & builder must take on all the headaches & risk, and source all parts, including the hard to find one. I'm tempted to offer up $600 and say make me one too, but how would you send it to me, and from where. I am dying to see what this printer will look like. As I said its a WIP, it currently has 2 belts each side simply because I couldn't be bothered doing one belt correctly laced round 4 posts/wheels/gt2's but it is designed to be more like your second set of dots(which has a better chance of not deforming the filament). No hobbed bolts, just the back of the belt. Drive one of the large cogs and it turns both belts the same, as I said there is no teby MechaBits - General
what about something like this? not a final design, just enough to get the idea down, at first I was thinking tank track arrangement i think i need to take an indepth look at the other variations to see how the gears are setup, but perhaps there is a better way to do it, not figured out best way to incorporate the springs, or an adjuster and if it could be made a little smaller. though its misby MechaBits - General

Yes I'm trying, suggested to the local unemployment office to provide a list(or setup meets) of unemployed engineer types(though would be nice to get a little help from those in industry), but data protection prevents it, but they should be asking them individually if they would be interested in such a club/group, (but they won't) next step would be to run some add's for people with tools or skilby MechaBits - Mechanics
The amount of people that have adopted (s)ketchup is scary, if I see a job with an architects where they have sketchup in the must have skills, I pass it by, call me lazy, I just don't want to spend the time to learn it, when there are so many other pieces of SW to get to grips with, I just don't see it as serious, even though it's been around for a few years now can probably do more than when itby MechaBits - Reprappers
I wonder if the bearing blocks for the bed should be in a triangle rather than L arrangement, maybe one Z motor would be ok, been playing with ideas on that myself, hotend looks tiny, is that correct scale, I assume its because the parts you salvaged are very large, the motors are huge. Also the bearing blocks on the Z might not be the final ones you need, I believe they would be better with theby MechaBits - Reprappers
