FYI - this looks like the one i bought, obviously I cant be 100% it is the same.by iamburny - Ormerod
As promised, this thing - is the mount pictured in the first post, in the picture it is attached to my custom carriage, however i have added holes to attach it to the RRP carriage but i haven't printed or tested this.by iamburny - Ormerod
Quotedenshine did you need to do any commissioning of the hotend or was it a straight swap? No commissioning needed, just had to trim the supplied cables and crimp compatible terminals on. simples!! Quotepantau Could you make the stl file available for the mounting adapter? Thanks Peter I'll post my STL and SCAD on thingiverse an link it here shortly. All very valid points, I'm sure someone will get there. I wonder if anyone has explored coloring a plain natural colored filament with ink at extrusion time?by iamburny - Ormerod
It has a 0.4mm nozzle on this one so the detail is slightly finer. I think the more pointed shape of the brass tip helps too, overhangs and bridges might be slightly better because of this, the brass tip is a bit longer so there is also more room for cooling ducts (my next development ) On the down side the nozzle does heat up slower, this might be the cheap heater cartridge or the hole in the aby iamburny - Ormerod
I was very skeptical when i saw a replica E3D head on ebay for £9.99 (free delivery), surely it couldn't be complete, properly assembled or any good. so i bought one to find out! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231470333128 (seems price has gone up to £12.99) It did come complete and assembled with a heater, thermistor and pneumatic push fit type bowden type attachment, so i knocked up a quick mountby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Sanders Glad your up and running again, weird that the temperature has to be so high, that's pretty much ABS temperature. Have you calibrated the hot-end thermistor? if not i'll dig out the forum thread that describes the process. The paper trick I mentioned is pretty much as Erik said. 1. ensure the bed is hot and at operating temp (that is 60c for me) 2. obtain a long strip of standard wby iamburny - Ormerod
Nice idea, does it sync the gcode folder (e.g. delete/add/modify)? I assume it uses FTP? and therefore not supported on official RRP duet firmware? Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Sanders, Initial thoughts are that the Nozzle is too close to the bed to start with, do you use the "piece of paper" trick to check Z height before printing. Second it sound as though your extruder is slipping, this may be blocked nozzle or nozzle temp too low (somewhere around 200 -/+ 7) is usually good for PLA. What type of plastic are you printing with? What are you bed and head temps?by iamburny - Ormerod
I have never had this happen to me, my ormerod is inside, at room temperature which doesn't usually drop below 18C and I pretty much always print with the cheapest Chinese filament I can get my hands on. I have however noticed a big difference between opaque type and translucent type filaments, the success rate of jobs and quality is noticeable better with translucent filaments (of any color).by iamburny - Ormerod
Nice one zpl, I'm excited to get this uploaded to my duet (once its fixed!) really like the new structured json responses I'm working on a "Lite" version of your interface, including a few new ideas I hadby iamburny - Ormerod

build a couple of new "upgrade" parts I thought I would share. Simplified X Carriage (based on dc42's openscad rebuilt x-carriage) I have basic done away with the air duct completely, I have drilled two additional 3.5mm holes in the heat sink and mounted the fan & heat sink directly onto the new x-carriage with two M3 x 40mm bolts. The aluminium cooling block is mounted onto the heatsinkby iamburny - Ormerod
Nice one thanks Paul, I'm printing a set of these now. Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi dc, Sadly I'm still time restricted but cant resist the odd fiddle here and there, I don't think I can commit enough time to keep up with you speedy FW developments, however I will happily pull in your changes to my repo it seems sensible to keep the masters in sync and then I can so I can make the occasional tweak too. Quotedc42 Btw I'm thinking of withdrawing the direct web print facility in the next version of the web interface, because Upload & Print is safer to use, and just as convenient apart from the short delay at the start while the file is uploaded. It would reduce the complexity of the code and the amount of testing that needs to be done for a new release. Does anyone object? Of course, if Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
I've only ever printed with PLA (avoided ABS because of the smell!) and not ever had a problem with warping, some slight lifting at the corners of large (150mm+) prints was corrected with the better adhesion (i.e. not using kapton) provided by glass and a good pva/water mix. I have contemplated making a directable nozzle, but have to correct a few fan - bed clearance issues first. Unfortunatelyby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Paul, I've been using a second fan for a while, and it makes a big difference to overhangs, bridges, thin, tall or small quick layered prints, but not much benefit for large prints. There is already connections available on the duet to attach a second fan, and dc42 has enabled this in the firmware. M106 S255 will switch on the second fan at full speed, M107 will switch it off. I have added aby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi All, Here is another Ormerod Mod to provide extra cooling, this 3-part bracket simply replaces the lower of the two Z bearing mounting brackets and allows for an additional cooling fan to be mounted on the adjustable arm, i have mine directed at the center of the print bed, as the print progresses the fan is raised with the Z access. It is currently designed to hold a 50mm fan, however it iby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Ray, Thanks for posting your experiences, I'm very glad they work well for you. I've been using mine for over 2 months and nearly 6kg of PLA now and they are still virtually unworn and still backlash free =) have you tried my Z-Axis gears also? Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi MrCrispi, Glad to see your making progress with a "local" install of my Ormerod interface. Its very likely that the Wired Ethernet Connection will have a different IP address to a Wireless Wifi connection. Try running "ipconfig" again when it is connected via wireless, if it is different and this is going to be the interface you use most, i'd suggest changing the reprap.htm to use this IP aby iamburny - Ormerod
