Quoteonno Iḿ working now with the new GUI, and I got one word for it: Brilliant! Thanks for this new version. I can foresee future enhancements to make it even better, but in its current state itś already a great addition to the Ormerod. Definitely a huge leap forward! Congratulations and thanks for these improvements. I was wondering if there's FTP server code available for the Arduino and wouby markm - Ormerod
I've been impressed by DesignSpark so far but have not tackled anything too sophisticated yet - simple cams and the like. It runs reasonably well on relatively lowly hardware and, as Treth mentions above, is pretty intuitive (for my previously 2d brain).by markm - Ormerod
This is how I got the dimensions for the bed and it might help for future reference: In DesignSpark, open the Ormerod.step file found in the Ormerod-Master zip - this is a fully assembled model of the printer. You are told that the drawing is read only. Deselect everything in the structure list, open the Y-Axis tree and select the BED component - just the bed plate is displayed. An alternative spool holder. Wire coat hangers are much underrated IMHO.by markm - Ormerod
For Info: I've revisited my X axis rolling issue and improvised an improved solution. With the X axis beam stripped down and placed on a surface plate there was a fair amount of ripple along its length. Enough to cause the hot end to rise and fall a couple of times along its full travel. The acrylic was also slightly undersize making the head droop slightly at rest. Quotedc42 I'm thinking of adding a Pause button on top of the Duet enclosure. This would immediately stop the print, raise the head 10mm, and turn off the heaters. Then ignore incoming commands until some specific command is received (e.g. a home command, or M115) that indicates the user is back in control. Would it be possible to store the current X,Y,Z positions when the button was pressed (poby markm - Ormerod
It would be preferable to home the Z axis in the 'up' direction (Z+) to remove backlash, so a slight overshoot and going back up to position be quite good.by markm - Ormerod
+1 on the fan control from me too. Thanksby markm - Ormerod
On windows PCs you can set the power management options for the USB controller(s) In device manager right click on USB root hub (of which there is often more than one) and select properties -> Power Management tab and make sure the box is unchecked against "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" This prevents the USB from going to sleep Regardsby markm - Ormerod
I tried various methods to get bed compensation working - both electronically and mechanically and have ended up reworking some components to get things square and true. I found initially there was too much flex in the mdf bed plate to use it as a reliable plane to 'jack' the heated bed assembly from. So I remade it in 3mm aluminium plate using the mdf as a pattern. This is MUCH stiffer and alby markm - Ormerod
to kwikius for the design I downloaded and printed the backwash deflector - the print started lifting on the second layer - but I let it carry on. After printing I fitted the deflector and immediately ran the print job again this time the print completed with no lifting at all - not conclusive as I changed filament colour from blue to red between prints. Thanks for sharing the design.by markm - Ormerod
@rayhicks thanks for the guidance and the helpful photos. t3dp3d duet board arrived this morning but not had a chance to install (bloomin christmas shopping). I was thinking of using the 40 pin header with a ribbon cable with pin headers on the end but your way would be less hassle and less likely to go wrong. @droftarts Thanks for the response. I know this is early days for the product and hby markm - Ormerod
Here's a report on my SD card experiences uSD card was empty so downloaded relevant files and copied to card – no problems. Edited config.g for local network settings (10.0.0.100/255.255.255.0/10.0.0.32). Flashed firmware to latest version from github (dated 17/12/2013). Note: In boot loader mode the serial port on the PC changes – from COM4 to COM5 in my case. Got machine up and running andby markm - Ormerod
