I'm been using same stuff for last 3 weeks abeit with 3mm plastic as the centre, it does work and doesn't appear to have any problems with temperature. I'm not convinced it is the ultimate solution as it is still possible to bend but currently it is better than anything else as is light and can be cut with knife, jigsaw and file.by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Just a thought. Are you running pronterface and loading file via USB? I had print stop several times in same place having loaded via USB cable on to the card but then loaded same file on to SD card directly and no problems so I think it might be the uploading. I was running the python pronterface and DC's bin.by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Have you done the calibration set up with the single wall test that Ian had a thread on. I've had problems printing gears to fit the stepper motor shafts so played around with the extruder multiplier even after setting calibration. Worth measuring filament as I have one labelled as 1.75 and is actually 1.7 so in moving 100mm you don't actually have the same volume of plastic to extrudeby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
My printer used to run just fine with the USB connected or not if the laptop went to sleep (company policy so shuts down if not used for 15min or so), I have the JP9 link on duet. In the last couple of days if USB not connected or turns off the head just freezes and will then leap into life if laptop woken up. I can't get round the laptop issue other than using an old one (without security timeouby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Help please. I uploaded the renamed remote htm file to the duet via prontaface, connected ethernet cable and usb. Clicking on the reprap.htm on the downloaded software then opens Ormerod Control v6.0 in explorer. Pressing connect button then doesn't go anywhere after the spinning symbol. I'm obviously missing something somewhere, do I need to mess around with IP addresses as per the rrp web linkby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
There are a couple of mentions of printing Nylon, anyone got any information on source and temperatures please.by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
With all this talk of PSUs, can someone explain whether a new PSU 12V can go straight in to the duet pcb or does it need to go into the small pcb with the multiple wires and if so is there a wiring scheme somewhere please?by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
QuoteDC42'Besides installing one of my versions of the firmware (and then testing it with Pronterface if you like), all you need to do to get Matt's web interface working is: - Download reprap.remote.htm from Matt's github repository [github.com - Rename it to reprap.htm - Use Pronterface option File->Upload reprap.htm to upload it to the SD card (or take the SD card out and do it manuallyby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
I agree to a degree with both points being made above, there are those who do want to progress and improve the various aspects and its been pretty amazing to watch where the new web interface, new parts etc has gone but there are also part of the community who will manage with the simplest working system without all the bells and whistles. For me I have used consistantly the rrp precomplied prontby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
I've just downloaded the repfirmware bin file and get 57j and 57k. Assume k is latest and the one to use?by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Perhaps you could also add a section on calibrating extrusion width with multipler and default extrusion width and using the 40x10 test piece etc, there are various threads through the forum and this sort of basic stuff would be good to collect in one place, currently lots of new folks in 3D printing and occasionally is feels like extracting teeth with new info which probably would be better starby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
I printed out the fan duct and it ended up with the ducts filled in even though the SW model shows open slots, the stl file bought in to Slic3 showed slots in the 3d view and of course the part supplied in the original kit had open slots. I looked at the gcode and it shows that the slots are filled in so I am guessing it is something I have set in Slic3? Any thoughts please?by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Hows the best way to check the extrusion width then, I see mention of a single thickness wall which I assume is 1 extrusion width where as from a CAD model we are working directly in mm. Is there a way to force it to do 1 travel round or is it best to run a model with 1mm thick walls and then calibrate from that?by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Sorry to hear that. There are plenty of people who have managed it and are printing. Yes there are challenges and no doubt improvements to come but it is possible. If you expect to get it out the box and go printing which is probably more RS fair then yes it can be a problem but following instructions line by line does work, they're better than a lot of instructions I have seen before and the supby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Its been mentioned before on other threads but a hacksaw blade (break a bit off the end to fit) and doubleside taped to the x-axis works a treat, still using 9mm bearing.by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Had similar problems on a different part and was the belt slipping on y axis, x-axis was fine. The issue is that the belt grip for the x-axis is good and it doesn't slip, the y-axis slots are not good and prone to some movement. Cured with cable ties in similar way to the pic above. It needs a nice printed part to grip belt on y-axis in similar way to x-axis.by Ormerod276 - Ormerod
Linked slightly to this thread but managed to get the first print today (hurrah....light at end of tunnel) and I noticed that with pronterface set at 57C for the bed that actually the bed heater was switching round 65C indicated on temp watch on pronterface. Seemed at bit odd as it was the control system doing this against the indicated temperature. I could understand it if I was measuring the teby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
I've got the problem with pronterface as above. I see there is a fix is "The fix is in the duet branch of the Firmware." For the uninitiated what does this mean, is this refereing to the standard 'easy' download of firmware/pronterface or reference to the customised pronterface for the ormerod, I had a look at the customised download before but kind of got put off by the large number of steps reqby Ormerod276 - Ormerod
