Just to add, I sliced an STL using slic3r then tried to print using Octop, it fails to heat the hot end but does start 'printing', the hot end doesnt get hot and the extruder drive doesnt move I used pronterface to print the same file and it works as expected, hot end is hot and extruder drive is moving.by PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi guys, Its been a while since I have used my Ormerod due to the LAN chip failing on the duet board, I have decided to get Ormerod working again and rather than replacing the duet board I have decided to go down the Octopi route. I have set it up and XYZ controls work however I have an issue with commanding the hot end to active at any temperature. heated bed and hot end standby temps are fineby PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotedc42 It sounds to me that the PHY chip is probably blown or has a bad solder joint under it. That's the small square one not far from the Ethernet socket. BTW the Duet Maestro make a good replacement for the Duet 0.6 in an Ormerod, although if it is an Ormerod 1 then you will need new bed cables. Thanks, yes it is an Omerod 1, its been great till now. However I dont think I can face a fulby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all. I have a Omerod 1 which has been great till recently. The other day I turned it on and managed to connect (really slowly) to the web interface but then I lost connection and can no longer connect to it. I can connect and control through USB and PanelDue (well sort of, the touch is awful) The LAN connector has a very dim green LED constantly lit but it doesn't flash when I connect a etheby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hey, Thanks for the design. Originally I printed the frame in PLA but due to the heat of my stepper motor the frame soon distorted. I managed to print in ABS and it was alot stronger. More often now I see that the filament is getting kinked and it stops extruding (please see attached photo) Do you know of any way to combat this issue?by PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotedc42 1000mA works well for me, printing PLA at 195C first layer and 185 or 190C subsequent layers. I dropped the extruder current down to 1000 from 1200 but same issue again. Perhaps something to do with the ambient temp in the UK over the last few days?by PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Part of the solution is to use the correct extruder motor current. If the nozzle gets obstructed temporarily, you want the current to be low enough that the extruder motor skips steps instead of grinding a notch into the filament. Thanks, Its worth a try. I had another failure today 2 hours into a print (this is after cleaning out the hobled insert. What is the correct motor current fby PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotedmould It will not have damaged the hobbed bolt, just clean the plastic dust off it with a toothbrush or similar. The bigger issue is why the filament stopped feeding in order to cause that. It could just have been a build-up of plastic dust clogging the hobbed bolt until it lost its grip, it could be that you are printing a bit too fast, maybe your cooling fan failed (causing the filamentby PaulHam - Ormerod
Last night I left a large object printing on my Ormerod but this morning when I checked on it I saw that there was only half of the object that had been printed. What has happened is that the knurled bolt had stripped a chunk out of the filament and has not been able to extrude anything else as it no longer had any grip on the filament. Does anyone have a fix for this issue? I do have the spriby PaulHam - Ormerod

I finally got the plug off, it was quite bad underneath., I cleaned up the contacts and its working now. DC42, can you tell me what the 2 pin connector and pins are called so that i can order some new ones.by PaulHam - Ormerod
I cant disconnect the plug from the board. it stuck tight.by PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all. I had to print 3 objects today. did the first 2 fine (usual issues with connecting through the web interface and gcodes uploading but stuck at 100% but thats it) on the third one i noticed that the fan didnt come on for the heater, i tried uploading the gcode again but ive realised that i cannot command the heater manually either. Also when i look at the plug from the heater which goesby PaulHam - Ormerod
This is the cable i used when i copied FaFiNoS I still havent got a case for it though, as i brought the 5" display from ebay, The touch control isnt the best on itby PaulHam - Ormerod
Ive never had the filament break inside the extruder, but sometimes i do see the hobbled insert mill out a chunk of filament, which then doesnt allow it to extrude anymore. I think my issue might be print speed though. I always get my filament from PrintME 3D, I leave it connected up to the printer 24/7 and months on end (inside room temp, It didnt break even when the boiler went out for a monthby PaulHam - Ormerod
Anyone have a case design for the 5" ebay display?by PaulHam - Ormerod
Has anyone designed a bracket to fit the large LED 12v PSU's from ebay to the Ormerod? Perhaps onto the Z extruded alu. Currently mine sits behind the ormerod but i would like to clean it up a bit.by PaulHam - Ormerod
I usually print PLA from 3dfilaprint on a PVA glue bed. Hardly ever have issues except in the past its stuck too much and ive ended up taking slices of glass off with the print. I have some ABS from GalacticWarehouse (its probably about a year old now, and it wasnt sealed in a air tight container) but ive been having so many issues with it not sticking. I just cant get it to print. Ive tried kapby PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotezombiepantslol I haven't experienced this white page problem once, so I can't fix what I can't reproduce. If anyone provides a Wireshark capture though, I'll look through it again. As said earlier Android's stock browser is no longer supported, so either try out Firefox or Chrome if it's supported on your device. I did receive an Android WebView update a few days ago on my Lollipop phone, bby PaulHam - Ormerod
I was using it on a Mac chrome earlier, but it disconnected then wouldn't reconnect. I could ping the ip from terminal, it worked from safari, and I tried from a windows pc using chrome and it connected fine. I haven't seen the white page issue anywhere else and I only use chrome now daysby PaulHam - Ormerod
Are there any known issues with running this webserver with Google Chrome? Today i am having issues of the webserver not loading, all i get is a white page. If i try to open using safari it opens straight away.by PaulHam - Ormerod
Thank you for your reply. Should i use your sys files, DC42's or my old ones?by PaulHam - Ormerod
I have just flashed firmware RepRapFirmware-1.04f-dc42.bin (previously been running RepRapFirmware-078t-dc42.bin on my old ormerod (1) without issues) I have also put the ZPL web interface on the SD card. When i connect to the webserver and try to home all axis the Y axis runs into the microswitch and gets stuck. It seems that the bed moves in the wrong direction even when commanding it to moveby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all. I am running a Ormerod 1 and currently on Duet Firmware 0.78t-alpha-dc42 reprap.htm 1.04 reprap.js 1.04 I have tried to upgrade to the newest firmware (RepRapFirmware-1.00j-dc42.bin)and www (from ), but although the web server shows, when i click connect it changes into 'retry' and in messages it says that the server is down or something like that. Is there certain things which neby PaulHam - Ormerod

Can anyone share their Start and End G-codes with me? Please?by PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all. Ive always used Cura to slice my 3d files. The reason is that i always found it much quicker than Slic3r. Now i have a new laptop, and need to slice some parts which have thin walls (cura ignores thin walls) so i thought i would try Slic3r again. I remember that around this time last year DC42 uploaded his config, but i know a lot has changed since then, so using those files the heatedby PaulHam - Ormerod

Can anyone point me in the direction of the STL of the piece which has the 3 slots for airflow from the fan. I am noticing bad quality overhangs so i have a feeling that cooling isnt up to scratch.by PaulHam - Ormerod
