Quoteiamburny I have no connection with this seller and cannot comment on quality. £12.99 for a 1kg Reel, selling out fast! cheapest I've seen and definitely worth a punt i reckon. We'll soon find out, just ordered some! (PLA & ABS) Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Quoteormerod168 QuoteMykey ? Frankenslide! You nailed it! Edit: no that won't do it, no Franken without the Orme Erik Damn, I thought I'd had a genius moment! Erm, Ormenslide, Igormenslide........by Mykey - Ormerod
Ok, I have been looking at a lot of the variations that are currently out there, so much choice, multi extruder, multi colour/material single extruder, slides, nylon bearings and so on AND ON AND ON. Richrap dot com has some interesting things! I have ordered several extrusions, of 240mm, 480mm and 500mm along with a selection of connectors, feet, sliders and wheels, I have no idea if the sliderby Mykey - Ormerod

Quotebadman.teddy.edward This is a horrible mock up but oh well (<5minutes - it is bed time) - laugh at will Roughly what I plan to do. May turn it into a box too...shrug. Mike I am going to put together my parts list tmrw evening. I am happy to undergo this mod journey with you - unfortunately I won't be able to commence the build until (hopefully) the 17th, or (more likely) the 28th dueby Mykey - Ormerod
Quoterayhicks QuoteMykey If someone can point me in the direction of where to get the extrusions, sliders etc, I may well start to build one of these monsters! Hi Mike, I got my extrusion from here Bonus, I just had a look at their site, they're only 30(ish) miles from me!!! Thanks.by Mykey - Ormerod
No they are a straight swap!by Mykey - Ormerod
I understood not a word of Radians post, way over my head! But if it means that even a relay wouldn't be required and it can be done on board, then thats a bonus, I just wonder about the power requirements and the wiring to each bed?!? I need things simple (hence the simple thInking!) I think this is definitely heading in the right direction, at this rate there will be multi headed Ormerods cby Mykey - Ormerod
I am assuming you followed the 'Getting extrusion just right' instructions? LINKby Mykey - Ormerod
Have you tried reducing the extrusion multiplier? Mine is set to 0.95, and the other thing I would try is lowering the extruder temperature for subsequent layers (mine is set to 170). If that doesn't work, it may be worth posting the gcode so someone else can try printing it. Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Another slight change to the adapter, (found by accident), if you remove the side clip (furthest from the hooks) the adapter plate just slides on! Mike. Edit to add imageby Mykey - Ormerod
Quotebadman.teddy.edward Downside is there will be an extra control unit to power up before printing. I can't see myself rewriting the pronterface software so it could manage 2 heat beds...and the net is so slow on this boat even searching for whether the duet has enough ins and outs for such a thing is patience testing. I had a look last night and large beds were hard to find. Instead of lookinby Mykey - Ormerod
Hi Kim, The attached fettled shows (more or less) where I filed, one was so the IR head fitted under without too much protrusion, the second so the wiring plug fitted comfortably although tightly. The second image, shows where the design could be slightly altered, removing a mm from the bottom (the IR head will fit easier), and the other end can be extended (Dc's new sensor board looks to be arby Mykey - Ormerod
Hi Kim, It all went together quite nicely, I warmed the clip before trying to fit it. The clip just needed a little filing to mount the IR sensor (for the plug), ALL warping has gone and I have been able to start prints with a temp of 180 dropping to 170 without issue. I may try going even lower, just for the sake of it..... I haven't tried any bridging as yet. Many thanks, Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Hi, The circle.g file is there so you can see the compensation on the z axis as it draws a circle, it doesn't actually print anything. IIRC it runs about 5 mm above the bed. Hth Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Thanks Kim, I'll print that out as soon as your duct has finished (25mm to go) and probably fit it tomorrow evening, I'll feedback as soon as I can. Mike.by Mykey - Ormerod
Ahoy Kim I really like the look of that! 2 questions: How's it do when bridging, as I thought the layers needed to be cooled to work properly, secondly, is there space to place the IR probe on it a la the one piece unit from Iamburny? Ta muchly, Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Looks like thats a working idea, unfortunately I don't have a spare pc near the printer, so the IP camera is a definite winner and if I'm really lucky, there will be a way of powering it from the duet (5v @ a max of 1.5A). To be brutally honest, I paid substantially more for a webcam last year (Logitech 910). Anyway, I think that this topic was completely hijacked - Sorry! Mike.by Mykey - Ormerod
Quotebobtidey The webcam (ip rather than usb) is a seriously good idea that that I also want to add. Of course, an optional frame for this in the web client would be perfect. If it has a microphone as well then one could also listen in the background for any unusual sound effects. Lol, you had to go and say it! If the missus moans, I'm blaming you, i have just ordered a (cheaper) IP camera witby Mykey - Ormerod
Quotedc42 One snag is that there has been a run on 10mm 40kHz ultrasonic transducers since I built the prototype, and neither Farnell nor RS has any in stock. This may delay the Kit 5s till sometime in April, unless I add £3 to the price and source more expensive ones from Mouser, or ship the Kit 5s without the transducer. I, for one, will be more than happy to pay an extra few quid to get it eaby Mykey - Ormerod
Personally, since Iamburny started releasing his web interface and DC42 his firmware, I haven't even opened Pronterface. Yes I have a local webserver running (https only) which works without issue, however I use the remote version as I instantly know that there have been updates (especially now that Burny has integrated a check). I am able to upload a file, start it and monitor using whatever dby Mykey - Ormerod
Hi Steve, You need the 'S' after your G30 P3, ie 'G30 P3 S'. I believe the 'S' makes the Ormerod do the calculations. Hth Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Looks like I may be up to 50 orders soon, in which case I can probably afford to get them assembled professionally! How many more orders do you need to make that viable? I am sure I am not the only one who would be happy to take an additional kit to get the numbers up, always nice to have a spare! Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
I think you need to enable 'Expert Mode' before you can see that! File - Preferences - Mode - Expert (In dropdown Box) Hthby Mykey - Ormerod
And I'll have an option 5 also please. Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
Quotedc42 There is a design decision to be made. Should the lighting be on continuously, or only when the fan is running (which will be when the hot end temperature is above about 45C or the thermistor appears to be open circuit)? Personally, I think that always on will allow you to see the machine is powered on at a glance and may help with visually checking the Z level, but either way is good!by Mykey - Ormerod
And you can put me down for a fully populated (Cos I is lazy) one please. Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
QuoteMickyblueeyes Mykey, thanks for the suggestion I had forgotten about the powerline option I even have some I got free with something a while back so I might try that. No worries, it's what I useby Mykey - Ormerod
I suppose you could try an 'Ethernet to WiFi' adapter? such as Amazon But as you need a power outlet or 2 anyway, I think powerline adapters would be a better option. Mikeby Mykey - Ormerod
