I have just printed a new bearing for the x axis arm using a new filament from Igus. I have attached details of the filament. The new bush is not only quiter than the old bush but is lighter. You dont need to alter the original x axis bearing housing as the bearing which is flanged at one end snaps into place easily. I have attached the STL file if anyone would like to carry out the mod. Hi David I am running your firmware. Reprapfirmware-065e-dc42.bin. although the printer is doing some strange things. The web interface appears to be working again and i have all the buttons working ok. the axis home correctly and show in blue. the temp readings are correct and updating. the printprogress is showing correctly but i still dont have a version for the firmware showing in the settinby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi David I am having an issue with firmware 65e and web0.90. I have had a couple of occasions where the web interface does not report the firmware version and the some of the controls are not available. The reprap.htm and reprap.js shows the correct 0.90 versions. This happened a few days ago and after resetting the machine several times the firmware appeared in the setting tab of the web page aby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi m3832 I had this problem soon after starting assembling my printer. The cause turned out to be the filament tube tight where it connects to the brass end fittings, I took the tube off and run a drill up the end to give a little more clearance. After that I had no more problems with the extruder stuttering.by 3djim - Ormerod
Hi DC42 Thanks for the replys to my ealier posts. Sorry for not getting back sooner but i am at work so have to fit 3d printing between other jobs. I have updated to 0.59beta and the file upload seams to be going ok. the total height and filament problem has been going on for a few days it did work ok and the estimated times were all working but for some reason they stopped, although the printerby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi DC42 I have just tried to print another file from the sd card and get the following message on pronterface - Can't open 0:/gcodes/cup%20axle%20clip%20MK2.g to read from. Error code:4 Although the printer does print the file correctlyby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi DC42 The steps all carried out correctly when uploading a small file. no error messages. When i try to upload the larger file i get error message Gcode buffer overflow Hope this helpsby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi DC42 I have just uploaded your latest firmware (thanks for all your hard work) but when i now try to upload a file to the sd card the printer starts to print the file straight away and the web page shows the file upload progress bar but the rest of the page is greyed out. I have firmware version 058f and web page 0.74. I am running windows 7. The file upload worked fine before this upgrade.by 3djim - Ormerod
I have fitted micro switches to both the X and Z axis and as long as the bed is level and stable on the linear bearings there is no need to have compensation running. I have been using the micro switches for the past 2 weeks, printing every day and have had no compensation running. Setting the machine up correctly mechanically in the first instance is key. As for the z axis micro switch I have alby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi Matt The Ali extrusion is the original part the bracket for the extruder and reel holder are rebated on the inside edge to allow the x axis arm the pass through. Alan. I will attach the still files for the reel holder tomorrow, The table has large holes cut out of it to lighten it, I have increased the speeds for printing quite considerably without any issues. I have a few more mods butby 3djim - Ormerod
Hi. I can successfully print at 0.12 layer heights consistently. The bed modifications along with zeroing the x and z axis with micro switches means I no longer have to adjust the bed at all and I don't have to use any compensation. The idea behind moving the extruder was to take any unnecessary weight off the x axis and to allow me to fit a piece of aluminium angle in the near future to furtheby 3djim - Ormerod
See attached photos of some of the mods i have fitted to my printer. Some are implementations of ideas from threads in this forum and some are my own modifications. If anyone would like more details of any of the mods including stl files please let me know.by 3djim - Ormerod
Thanks for the advice I will try the other firmware rreleases tomorrow.by 3djim - Ormerod
Hi DC42 I am using the patched pronterface run from Python. I am using firmware reprapfirmware-059.bin. From the duet branch of GitHub. I don't have any ferrite beads on the USB lead.by 3djim - Ormerod
hi All I have been using my ormerod printer for the last few weeks and apart from the usual teething problems have been successfully printing parts, however I do have an issue where when I am printing over the USB cable pronterface regularly freezes and the printer stops mid print. I can print the same files from the sd card with no problems so don't think it is a problem with the files. Whenby 3djim - Ormerod
