I had the same problem and replaced the rod. I also replaced the nut with a longer brass one like this. Quotebitfield Not sure what the tool is called or where to buy it but I can sort that out if you want. I think you're talking about a die.by DaveB - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Also, watch out for the x-carriage sliding along the linear bearing, because if that happens then it may come off during a print. I had that problem and I found that a small piece of double sided tape between the x-carriage and the bearing is enough to hold things in place. If you just use a small piece it will still be fairly easy to push the bearing out of the carriage if you needby DaveB - Ormerod
I'm not sure, but I suspect that the firmware shuts off the hot end heater when it detects an abnormally low temperature reading. A reading of -273 suggests a break in the hot end thermistor connections, so that would be the first thing I would check. It could be that the connection is poor and fails when the hot end heats up, then starts working again once it cools down.by DaveB - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Thanks, DaveB. If the layer height comment is within the first 512 bytes of the file, then the 0.59e-dc42 firmware will find it. As long as it's put near the start of the custom g-code that should be the case.by DaveB - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Unfortunately, the current version of slic3r (1.1.1) no longer adds the layer height comment. You can add this back in by putting something like this in your customer g-code: ; layer_height = This works with other variables too. The downside is that it won't be right at the top of the file like in older versions, so your g-code will start something like this: ; generated by Slic3rby DaveB - Ormerod
Quotedc42 DaveB, I find that Pause followed by Restart usually works, although it may take 20 seconds or so for Pause to take effect. User error then. Thanks, I'll try that next time.by DaveB - Ormerod
Sometimes I'll start a print and realise I've made a mistake (the model was the wrong way up in Slic3r usually). What I'd like to be able to do is stop the print, upload some new g-code and try again without rebooting the printer. I've tried using the pause button for this but it usually doesn't work so something I'd find really useful would be an "abort" button.by DaveB - Ormerod
I'd be interested in a kit 5 if you have any available.by DaveB - Ormerod
