AFK-er, Without a heat bed you're always going to have trouble with lifting, particularly for taller prints with a small foot print. Keeping the bed very clean is crucial, there are also some other tricks people have use to improve adhesion. I tried to scour the forums, but couldn't remember where the threads were. Maybe someone can help point you in the right direction. With respect to your gby Add Man - Printing
Hello AFK-er, Which printer are you using without a heat bed? Without a heat bed I would guess that you will almost certainly get lifting around the edges. I notice with mine if I drop the temp even a little (just below 60) I start having more frequent lifting issues (using PLA). Another thing to be mindful of is environmental effects, drafts, wash back from fans, if the room is too cold. I hadby Add Man - Printing
Hi All, I have 5 blade fan, but I like dc42's slim design so I thought I would give it a try. It works fantastic! I was having a lot of trouble with severe warping in the corner near the duet board; you could feel the draft bouncing of the duet enclosure. With the deflector there is no longer any backwash, and no warping. It's also quieter (not that the noise was a problem...I like the sound oby Add Man - Ormerod
Hey Konilai, Good to hear you've made progress. Looks like you have problems with the tool thermistor. The temperature value itself is not too much of a problem, but if you're getting an error message then you need to investigate. If you have a multimeter, measure the resistance (in ohms) across the thermistor at the connector for the hot-end and check this is ok. At 20 degrees C it should beby Add Man - Ormerod
Hi Konilai, I've just had the same problem, everything worked fine up until it came to the SD card. As soon as I booted with the SD card installed it would 'hang' with no serial communication. I couldn't even close the Arduino window until I removed the USB cable. I tried different SD cards and adaptors with no change. I was convinced it was a fault with the SD holder on the Duet board. Thanks Dave, I had thought the same thing, essentially the hardware for both is the same. Has anyone tried this? From reading this thread again, the momentum seems to be with the Ormerod, so that's the path I think I will take. Therefore the next consideration for me will be how far away tricolour will be for the Ormerod?by Add Man - Ormerod
Just wondering if anyone has anything to add since January? I have narrowed my decision to the Mendel Tri or the Ormerod. I'm very keen on having access to three heads, but the newer Ormerod has a lot of advantages, particularly the newer electronics. Is there any news when the Ormerod will have three head capability? This would almost certainly influence my decision. Cheers.by Add Man - Ormerod
