that being said. it still cant give me a reliable bed level.by nistrum - Ormerod
HAHA nevermind. turns out i put the nozzle mount in upside down... move along, nothing to see here.by nistrum - Ormerod
hmm. how the hell would i change that clearance then? i could just drop the IR probe down a little by only using the 1 screw rather than the 2 its using the whole hot end sits perfectly verticle as it is nowby nistrum - Ormerod
the probe is definately higher than 1.5mm its about .5cm. but that seems no lower than the old head? i would imagine 1.5mm wouldn't give it an awful lot of clearance.. it was a little off kilter but changing that didn't really help the scenarioby nistrum - Ormerod
hmm. then i think i have a problem. my probe gives me a reading of somewhere around 247 at z:0... i checked the wiring, it seems to be on the nose but im open to the idea i stuffed something up somewhere..by nistrum - Ormerod
Hi guys, i have DCs firmware and the current web interface that goes with it.. was wondering how the bed leveling works with the new probe as the values i get are a ton lower with the modulated probe. i did everything else, am just wondering how people now do the bed leveling?by nistrum - Ormerod
hahah. i was on your page looking at trying to find out how to order one. i didnt know how much they were or how much pain i was going to cause trying to install it or i would have emailed youby nistrum - Ormerod
yeah. other than building it an enclosure i have no hope, its in my office. would the newer modulated IR probe help?by nistrum - Ormerod
all sorted now, thanks. i felt brave and decided i would try the good old Z probe to do the automated bed leveling.. still useless. it gives me diferent results each time but none of them are ever the actual bed height..by nistrum - Ormerod
awesome. thanks. not sure what they have done with the bossac file...by nistrum - Ormerod
Hey DC. i know this is probably going to seem like an obvious question.. but what is the best way to update the firmware? i have not done it for ages so was thinking i would try the RRP website way. but i cant for the life of me find the bossac.exe im guessing the newest arduino versions dont still have it? sould i just pull the SD card and overwrite the files?by nistrum - Ormerod
ahahahha I'm sorry for wasting your time DC I'm such a numpty. I hadn't re set my IP settings having copied over the files...by nistrum - Ormerod
ahh, that might solve that problem. but how do i get the web interface back up. where do i get the sys and Gcode folders from to work with the latest firmware?by nistrum - Ormerod
ok new stupid problem now.. i had the new firmware running but it wouldnt home the X axis, it just kept trying to run into -ve and obviously hitting the end and jamming. so with the new firmware and web interface running hapily i went to look into the issue. the reprap troubleshooting said that having updated the firmware to load the new files from the current firmware to make sure everything isby nistrum - Ormerod
OK so i changed those things. All went well at first and i got spectacular results trying to print at .1 ;ayer height. but after a while the head began to interact with the layers with the results you would expect :/ anyone know how to get leyer heights of less than .24 to work?by nistrum - Ormerod
yeah. made some changes, anyone have any good suggestions for print speeds? or the default ones pretty good?by nistrum - Ormerod
ok so call me really stupid but where are the retraction settings in the current slicer build? also what is a good speed for laying down filament is slower always better or is there like a point where slower just warps things?by nistrum - Ormerod
thanks a lot guys. also wanted to make a point. i am happy with the printer everything works like a charm. i just want to push it where i can to be better will check the github stuff and those settings now i feel like this is just a discussion that should be had.by nistrum - Ormerod
Hi guys and girls. Was wondering if you guys could help me figure something else. ATM i print at pretty much default settings in slic3r but i was wondering what i can change to improve my prints. obviously i can lower the layer height, which i will be doing. but i was wondering what else i can do. what is a good list of settings for max accuracy out of my printer using PLA?by nistrum - Ormerod
hahah, i had a feeling that would be what was said. yeah cleaned the bed already, i tend to keep a pair of pliers handy to remove the bits of excess plastic that ooze out. i think the nozzle hight has a fair bit to do with it. i usually pull the nozzle down until it rests on the paper and then move it down until i cant fit the paper back under it... i just feel like it is a little inaccurate. iby nistrum - Ormerod
Thats what its spitting out after 2 or so layers. it was only saved from quavering by my pausing the print and pulling it out when i started to see it catching.by nistrum - Ormerod
Hey guys, i have my printer up and running and the world would be a happy happy place if i could solve this current problem... when i print at the moment it had a tendancy to cling to the print head or ball up, which would be fine if not for iot then solidifying and throwing my whole print off.. either that or it will drag the print off the bed as it moves away or past it.. so what i need to kby nistrum - Ormerod
holy cow, aye i 2nd the heated bed not making its target issue. i had a ton of problems with mine but if you just run the orientation axis Gcode to run it should just print out with the bed temp set to 64.. i think...by nistrum - Ormerod
yeah, it freezes on uploads a fair bit, not really sure what the cause is though. i find the good ole off and on again tactic resolves it, it seems that once it has decided no more uploads it will stay like that until its rebooted although it will still actually work for G.codes already on the sd card.by nistrum - Ormerod
Thanks for all the help guys, made life a lot less painful So slignment bits printed adjustments made and tomorrow morning i will set off my ormerod replacement parts here is a picture of my successful printby nistrum - Ormerod
ok flipped threaded rod and added more lubricant, seems to have fixed the issue, will test properly tomorrow. sorry if i seem to be posting every mundane update, just figure in case anyone has a similar problem i have chronicled what i hate tried (and has failed)by nistrum - Ormerod
OK so looks like i have found one of the root problems. there is something wrong with my Z axis. not sure if its the nut/rod combo or the linear bearings but it looks like something is binding when i home the x axis seems fine the rest of the time.. not really sure what to do about it yet :pby nistrum - Ormerod
even after i remove the homing it still seems to be overwriting my Z alignment.... will keep lookingby nistrum - Ormerod
cool, was going to try that next. just booted it back up after dinner for round 2 i love the fact you really have to be ready/willing to mess with the guts of this thing. it really is an all round projectby nistrum - Ormerod
OK new development, i just figured out that all the hard work i keep putting in to set up my z alignment is being overwritten by the Gcode for the alignment parts. as soon as it homes the x and y axis it then homes the Z using the IR probe which renders my hard work pointless... i changed the settings in the config file but i still find the IR probe a little unreliable how do you guys print yoursby nistrum - Ormerod
