I really miss Ian's interactions in these sort of posts. He had a knack of boiling it down to what a noob needed to know.by Magoo - Ormerod
In my last communication with Replikeo recently they said they are considering whether to continue Duet production.by Magoo - Ormerod
That's the address for video 1 - the unpacking. Hope you enjoy.by Magoo - Ormerod
Our build videos are being edited and the printer is working well. However, if you are/were considering buying an Ormerod 2 from Replikeo you may already be too late. Cheers Magooby Magoo - Ormerod
Last weekend we printed the axis calibration pieces. A little minor underextrusion was evident but it also alerted me to the fact that we skipped the extruder calibration step. Otherwise, the prints were excellent. We bought a piece of glass for $10 AU and covered it in kapton tape for the print. Essentially the build is finished other than tidying things up and fixing a little y axis belt rubbinby Magoo - Ormerod
Since I got no replies, maybe I didn't phrase my question well. I am talking about the proximity sensor reading on the web interface. It has a reading and then another in brackets. I always assumed the one in brackets was an average. But it is acting strangely on the replikeo ormerod.by Magoo - Ormerod
Hi all. Apparently there is a new Duet on the way express mail from Replikeo. In the meanwhile we have solved the intermittent jamming problem with the x-axis. It turns out that the slightly different x axis belt pulley (to the reprappro original) supplied was fitted too tight in the printed/acrylic hole. After taking a file to it, all is working fine. We have printed a snowman directly on the fiby Magoo - Ormerod
Can someone please tell me what that number in brackets is on the proximity sensor? On my ormerod it is usually pretty close to the other number. It is quite a bit different on the Replikeo Ormerod 2.by Magoo - Ormerod
Just a quick update. This weekend we will increase the current to the x axis stepper motor to 1000 milliamps in a hope that will solve the problem. The Y axis operated it fine at that current so we will eliminate that as an option. Replikeo has said they will send us a new duet regardless, so all going well we will have the machine printing soon.by Magoo - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Take a look at the soldering of the pins of the stepper driver chip, on the side facing the connector. Are the stepper driver chips the 4 in a row running parallel to where the stepper motors plug in? If so, and assuming the x-axis chip is the third one from the bottom, I can barely see the tiny pins so I don't know how I could hope to fix it if there was a poor connection evident . Unfortunately we just hit a problem with commissioning. The x-axis moves but regularly sticks/stalls and makes a terrible grinding/shuddering noise. I tried plugging it into the y-axis pins on the duet and it operated perfectly (+ and - movements were reversed). I was hoping it was just a fault with the cable (I had that problem with my RepRapPro Ormerod 2) but have eliminated that as the probleby Magoo - Ormerod
Hi fellow Ormeroders. My friend and I have bought a Replikeo Ormerod kit and are currently building it on video for a YouTube instructional series. I have an early genuine Ormerod 2 (no longer available). So far so good. We have the frame built and the Duet installed on the power supply. The bearings make a racket though and a few of the printed parts have cracked (also the smooth rod goes rightby Magoo - Ormerod
They ordered 500 based on that mess??. You guys came through on that deal. I hope you are doing ok Ian. Cheers, Andrewby Magoo - Ormerod
Hi Adrian, Sally, Ian I am sorry to see you in this position. I know RS was a poor representative of your product in Australia. Maybe that was a bad long term decision. I am sad for the loss of jobs as well as for the loss of talent to the development. Open Source is a double edged sword, particularly in a country with a high labour cost. Even moderates can be extremists on some issues. I am 10by Magoo - Ormerod
I was saddened to hear of RRP's pending closure. I'm sorry to hear you have lost your job Ian, you helped me out on numerous occasions when I was setting up my printer. Also, I am in the process of setting up a business involving 3d printing and the Fisher Delta was going to play a big part in what I had planned. Hopefully RRP China will carry it on. Sadly there are always winners and losers in aby Magoo - Ormerod

Since this seems to be the new Ormerod owners feedback channel I though I should add my piece. My Ormerod 2 kit arrived late October. I placed an order online with RS Australia and was initially told they no longer stocked the kit. After some email correspondence with Sally in the UK it arrived within a week or so direct from the UK I think. Just to annoy me RS has now dropped the price by AUD$1by Magoo - Ormerod
Hi Erik and Dave. Thanks for the replies and I will be taking your recommendations on board as soon as I get a chance to do some printing again. Life has been getting in the way of my new hobby this week. Andrewby Magoo - Ormerod
What he said. . I've only used blender and have to do a Boolean (difference) operation to remove the smaller cylinder from the larger. Then another Boolean (union) operation to join the bits together (adding in the smaller cylinder in the middle). I've found that usually a repair is necessary (I use the auto repair in NetFab basic) to make it manifold after exporting the stl from Blender so thatby Magoo - Ormerod
Hi all My z-axis lower mount has developed a crack just above the motor wiring plug (currently holding up with glue) so I am going to print a new one along with the other recommended spare parts in this post I just have a couple of questions I am seeking advice on: 1) What are the best settings in Slic3r for printing these parts in PLA and getting good holes (particularly nut/motor shaft inserby Magoo - Ormerod
Hi Vizual 54 I recently bought an Ormerod 2. I am not a computer wiz, coder, electronics buff, engineer etc. In fact I am a government health inspector and ex 4wd accessories salesman. I have no idea about what the Duet electronics do but I can follow instructions (which I found excellent) and have attention to detail and common-sense when it comes to problem solving. I can't compare the Ormerodby Magoo - Ormerod
