I cannot remember the persons name, I bought it through this forum, it might have been DC42 but not sure as it was at least a couple of years ago. Brianby Europa - For Sale
Gents, my Ormerod 2 printer is now for sale! It is in perfect working order and has several mods that really benefit the performance such as an aluminium X arm, E3D all metal hot end and a Gecko Tek magnetic bed sub surface. The print surface itself is a steel plate with a layer of EZ-STICK. I print both PLA and ABS without any bed adhesion issues whatsoever, the ABS printing is also helped byby Europa - For Sale

Many thanks Dave, I will investigate this evening. Brianby Europa - Ormerod
The hot end fan on my Ormerod 2 has stopped working. I have tested the fan and it is ok. Could somebody please tell me when to go next to find the fault? Is there a fuse on the Duet? Many thanks, Brianby Europa - Ormerod

Hi Dave, not sure how I "Define where the X microswitch is in the M574 command" Many thanks, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
It is only a few microns thick, it is a sort of grey selulose lacquer with a dull sheen. Made by these guys Gecko heated build plate Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Dave, I did consider using your mini sensor but from posts I have read I got the impression that a steel print surface with a coating which is what I use does not work very well with the IR sensors. If you can convince me otherwise I would be happy to give yours a go, I can always use the ordered inductive sensor for a different project. Regards, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Dave, my apologies, that is now clear. Can you suggest how I would deal with the X axis endstop as currently this depends on the Z probe. According to the original instructions two of the wires for the Z probe are connected to the extruder endstop pins. This leaves the X endstop pins free so could I wire a micro switch into these two pins and would that work ok? I appreciate your help, youby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Dave, thank you for pointing me to that page. The sensor I have bought is normally open, the description does not say if it is a PNP or NPN type. The output is 5 volt, is the mention of a diode in series in order to drop the voltage? not sure how though as I thought the voltage drop across a diode was only 0.6 volt. Will I need to set up a different X stop if I use the inductive sensor? Sby Europa - Ormerod
I could do with some advice please. I want to try an inductive sensor for bed height instead of infra red. I print onto a Gecko plate which are stainless steel with a special varnish coating. I have just purchased an inductive sensor and circuit board from Reprap 3DPrinter who are based in France, see this link: Inductive Sensor with circuit board Like many of these sensors the voltage range isby Europa - Ormerod
A lot has been said above about the problems of getting the PLA to stick to the bed and I am sure we have all experienced these difficulties at some time during printing attempts. I think first and foremost as many have said above is the nozzle height above the bed surface, I have always used a thin piece of white paper to set nozzle height, this is 0.09 mm thick, in fact a nozzle height of betwby Europa - Ormerod
I have been meaning to ask for a long time. What is the second figure in brackets that relates to the Z probe sensor height, for example I have just set my probe height to 1.3mm the sensor reading is 518 (524) How do the two figures relate? Many thanks, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Thank you Dc42, your advice led me to look for the fault in the right place. It was the solder joint on the upper track of the positive terminal, now fixed and working a treat. I brought both positive and negative out to two terminal posts mounted on the cover panel so that I can keep an eye on them in future. And of course it now heats up much quicker as the joints are good! Thank you for yoby Europa - Ormerod
That is interesting, do you think that indicates that it is a track problem. As it is a double sided board do you happen to know which is on the top and bottom with respect to positive and negative. Very baffling! Regards, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
I have put a meter across the positive bed output and the negative terminal where the 12 volt goes to the bed but no reading with the bed on. Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Dc42. Yes the LED on the Duet does light up when I switch on the bed but not the LED on the bed itself. Brianby Europa - Ormerod
The negative heated bed connector on my duet board had completely burnt out, so I removed the connector (which was like a cinder on the negative side) and soldered in a piece of wire in place of the connector both on the negative and plus, however it is still not turning on. I realise it might be the mosfet, where is it located please or is it more likely to be a problem with the track. Not surby Europa - Ormerod
Hello again Steve, My apologies, it is now working fine. I had the last IP digit in the Mac preferences set to the printer (25) rather than the base (1) Thank you for your help, Much appreciated. Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Steve, Thank you for your reply. I tried your suggestions but still cannot connect. There is also a Gateway entry on the SD card, do I change that line as well or just comment it out (M554) There is no gateway entry in the iMac preferences, just the two line you mention plus router. Many thanks, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
Hello, I want to connect my Ormerod 2 directly to my apple iMac using either thunderbolt bridge or the ethernet cable socket. The iMac is connected to the network by WiFi so the cable connection is not in use. The reason I want to do this is because I have been using a Home Plug (connection over house wiring) but this frequently drops out when I am printing. Does anyone have an idea as to howby Europa - Ormerod
Hi Dave, When you say in line with the nozzle in the X axis that would effectively put the sensor to the left of the nozzle when viewed from the cooling fan which is blowing in the Y direction ? I would need to design a new mount for the hot end but that is not a problem. Can I order from your site Escher 3D ? I don't know if it is just because I have an Ormerod 2 but I forever seem to be tinkby Europa - Ormerod
Thank David, I will giveS1.5 a try. By the way, I have been thinking of buying one of your Mini Differential IR height sensors. Can I simply connect it to the original plug for the sensor as shipped with the Ormerod 2 or does it need to connect to different pins on the Duet? Does it have to fit in front of the E3D V6 hotend or can it be mounted on the side where the original sensor sits? I finby Europa - Ormerod
Hi guys, I have increased the B value from 4267 to 4388 as suggested but the last 5 degrees, from 235 to 240 are taking around 5 minutes. Should I also have a go at increasing the S value ? Thanks, Brianby Europa - Ormerod
