Quoteorictosh Davek0974 made the kit parts for me to order and I sold them upon my website 3DPrint and Stuff, which is now closed. Might have one on the stock shelf, will need to check. Oooh, is this an aluminium bed kit for the Mk2 Ormerod? If so, can you check (double-check) your stock shelf? I'd take one or two off your hands. I can pay in pasta and loo roll if that's still a thing. Otherwiseby bartdietrich - Ormerod
Hi cheeseandham & Dennis, Thanks for your suggestions, I tried them all but nothing seemed to help. For the record, the printer's address is 192.168.0.20 and I can't ping that address with the ethernet cable disconnected, booting with or without either adapter connected doesn't change a thing and neither does bridging the Wifi and LAN. Hi cheeseandham, Tried leaving the gateway and DNS fields blank: unfortunately that did not solve the problem. The printer is connected directly to the computer's ethernet port with an ethernet cable. No intervening network. Internet connectivity is from the Wifi dongle. Cheers, Bartby bartdietrich - Ormerod

Hi all, I have a very annoying communications issue with a computer connected to an Ormerod 2 at work. Basically, it's either internet via wifi, or talking to the printer via ethernet, but not both at the same time. The printer is attached to a Windows 7 computer via ethernet cable and so long as I don't plug in the Wifi dongle, I can talk to the printer without issue. When I plug in the Wifi dby bartdietrich - Ormerod
Hi Dave, Expect an order soon from Glasgow uni. We've just purchased a v1 Ormerod (and a Huxley) from eBay very cheaply. They need some rebuilding but otherwise seem serviceable. I miss RepRap, their printers are so easily adapted to do other things! Two of your aluminium arms (I was at Liverpool uni when I bought them back then, three [!!!] years ago) are still going strong on Ormerod v2 printeby bartdietrich - Ormerod
Hi davek0974, I've just placed an order for one of your X-arms with the finance people at work. If you get an order from the uni of Liverpool, chemistry dept, that'd be me. :-) Cheers, Bartby bartdietrich - Ormerod

I'd be interested in all the extra bits that Erik suggested, if you end up making them. Maybe even two sets (one for the printer at work). And also one X-arm (also for the printer at work, I have one on the home printer already): still need to ask the boss about that, haven't forgotten... Hi dc42, Thanks for that, that sorted it! I was in the process of running a series of test prints of a small test cube with varying ways of invoking pause (interface button/send M25/inserted into file), invoking resume (interface button/send M24), starting print (upload&print/select from list of SD files: this was because for a while now large files uploaded to the printer print ok but afteby bartdietrich - Ormerod

Hi all, For the past couple of weeks I've been printing multiple copies of an object (got around 130 so far, another 100 or so to go) on the printer at work. The top few layers of the object are an inscription so I thought I'd make it a different colour from the main body. It's a single extruder printer, so I inserted a M25 command into the G code at the point where it starts printing the inscriby bartdietrich - Ormerod
PLA residues can also be dissolved with sodium hydroxide solution ("caustic soda"). This is corrosive to skin and especially eyes so take care. As opposed to dichloromethane or chloroform, used sodium hydroxide solution can be safely disposed of down the drain (flush with lots of water). Neither of these will do anything for charred plastic residues in the nozzle though. Sonication can help in tby bartdietrich - Ormerod

The zoom level for that particular browser window is too high. Note how you don't have the axis +/- 100 buttons either. Reducing the zoom level should make the missing buttons reappear. Cheers, Bartby bartdietrich - Ormerod
Quotefotomas If I am too impatient and start a print when the temperature is 2 degrees less (or lesser) than the print temp, the temp drops like 10 degrees and slooowly rises back up again. This is what the temp chart looks like. Heating up and then at the first red little mark I start the print, temp drops from 237 to 227 and slowly rises to 240 and the print starts at the second mark. Quotebrlowe Thanks for the update. Not to be picky but check the center holes to make sure they look good. The 2 sets I got locally had holed that made them unusable for me as the nut would not fit in one and the other was too small to fit over the motor shaft by a long shot. The outsides looked great. QuoteTreito I was talking about your comment regarding printing in ABS. If I should have gotten something wrong then I have to excuse myself, but I understood that you had some other small issues besides the curling of the edges. Ah ok, no, that was one of my extruders skipping while printing a 2-colour object. Turns out it was because of the differences in two different PLA reels. The same G-coby bartdietrich - Ormerod
QuoteTreito First of all you will have to check if you printed the calibration piece and followed the instruction. Then you should get good results. If not you should check the mechanics of your printer. A mostly common problems are loose belts which can result in inaccurate printings. Also make sure that your nozzle is perfectly angled to the bed and that the bearing is running freely with fullby bartdietrich - Ormerod

Don't worry about costs, it's just a bit of plastic. As for postage, surely shipping a few grams of plastic won't be too pricey, even across the pond (you're in the US?) It'll be a few days though before I even get started on this.
