Hi two things: A ) The last two previous FW versions is used were: RepRapFirmware-1.09i-dc42.bin RepRapFirmware-109f-zpl.bin To compensate Z placement during print, especially on first layer, it was possible to move Z height via the Web frontend buttons during printing (without pause the print). Depending on cache, the action came sooner or later. But it was correct. Now with the o FW, I didby gazoox - Ormerod
By the way: Had some questions about PLA/ABS bio compatibilty / hazards: Maybe you guys have some advice.. The "polymer working group" does not seem to have much activity.by gazoox - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Then you might be interested in my mini differential IR sensor, see . It uses two beams of IR light instead of just one so that the trigger height is almost independent of bed surface, and it works on most bed surfaces except mirror. I had other sensors considered.. Except microswitch for Z, my doubt is against the repeatability as for the original design. Does your sensor ALWAYS workby gazoox - Ormerod
The M226 cmd in the code is a good solution. Thx for the hint. Even though, over web interface as a "on the fly" feature would be more dynamic... I modified the resume command, not to extrude a lot of filament when continue. The blobs are very minimized. I start with inner perimeter. The minimal blob is only visible in the inside and only little bit visible with transparent filament.by gazoox - Ormerod
Is PLA/ABS biocompatible for permanemt skin contact (allergic reactions, inflammation, long term chemical diffusion,..)? Which hazards are known? How are these plastics are evaluated? In general they should not contain any softener chemicals like phthalate, but who knows.. I could not find anything helpful... Some "adult play toys" are made of ABS and does not seem to have negative effect. Oby gazoox - Polymer Working Group
When treating ABS with aceton it has some effects: aceton vapour: works very well. When dry, plastic has same color as before. aceton spray or put into liquid acetone: when dry, the filemant changs color into "whitening". A black filament has turned grey, other colors like blue or magenta got ugly whitening. Does anyone knoe where this comes from and how this could be avoid? I suggest some chemby gazoox - Polymer Working Group
Hello everyone. SItuation: I have a one nozzle Ormerod. When printing with PLA or ABS, I change the fillament color during printing, for design reason. It works very well: Pause the print, retract the current filament and extrude the new filament until it arrives, then resume. DIsadvantage: I have to wait during print until a certain layer has been reached to pause manually, to avoid the missingby gazoox - Ormerod
When I change bed material, the IR sensing does not work. So my practicial method is to home everything manually: by paper under nozzle moving X,Y axis by hand instead of moving command, moving x,y to a 0/0 position by hand... Had the case several times to crash in the ends. I know this is not the typical method, but maybe when some more people could require end switch activity during print.. Mayby gazoox - Ormerod
Hello Guys... I'm using my Ormerod without auto bed calibration, just using the "paper method"... Is it possible to activate end switche check during print or while manualy moving the head, to avoid crashing into the ends? I plan to add microswitches on the end of X and Y axis. Due to my manual configuration without auto homing and changing max values, limit positing from config are no longer vaby gazoox - Ormerod
L7 looks good. U1 not good. It's the Atmel. Surface isn't even on one position with a small bulb and temperature is high after powering on. 1 or 2 sec to burn finger. I suppose a follow up damage due to a warranty exchanged part is not covered by warranty..?by gazoox - Ormerod
Regarding the burned heatbed issue , I was happy to get my replacement heatbed after having the original bed roasted. Now I think I may have killed the Duet board: last actions: I assembled the bed, but right after first start something smelled burned. Not sure what it was, I do not see anything. Shortcut or whatever happens seem to be gone. But something is wrong now, Can't get proper connectioby gazoox - Ormerod
Thanks for the quick answers . I never noticed that it is possible to enter and change the temperature on the fly in the input box.by gazoox - Ormerod
Hello everyone. This is target to the (praised) FW developer (DC42, ZPL, and all others contributing...). May it be possible to add a Hotend temperature override feature while printing, controlling by Slider in Web Frontend? This would round up the already implemented web frontend features Extrusion override, speed multiplied override and fan speed override. Especially when doing testprints withby gazoox - Ormerod
Quote Smells good when printing. What does this mean? Funny idea... plastic releasing flavours when printing or for some time after print like a green wondertree.by gazoox - Ormerod
Hey Barddietrich. The foil on your acrylic Ormerod parts should be removed. I made same mistake first, but then recognized that this is not part of the designby gazoox - Ormerod
Quotebartdietrich Just realised: this bloody printer is starting to take over my life! :-) Bart Just like me. Don't know if this is good or not. I do experiments since two month nearly every day. But this is my engineers nature -> I'm using the same! Very good. Also I cut down a plastic bucket in size to fit over the holder like a hat to protect the filament from direct (sun-)light. Smby gazoox - Ormerod
Quotebartdietrich The problem is that, after a few layers, the nozzle starts riding over and bumping into material it has already printed. After a sufficient number of layers this gets so bad that the nozzle either detaches the print from the bed and drags it around or gets stuck in parts of the print and makes the x,y motors skip. Is this a Z-Scar Issue like this? I try to solve this sinceby gazoox - Ormerod
Have used following filaments so far: * white delived with ormerod from reprappro house brand PLA * babyblue, from reprappro house brand PLA mid ranking, because its quite expensive. Results are good * Innofil bronce PLA not most expensive, not the cheapest price; quality is very good; tough flexibility * formfutura PremiumPLA: solar yellow and transparent good price quality; results are good;by gazoox - Ormerod
@Ormerod168 Is there a special reason for fillament diameter 1.73mm? Do you have Z-Scar at the positions the nozzle lifts to the next layer?by gazoox - Ormerod
285°C thats very much. Much more than expected for "heat up little higher than extrusion temperature" . Will try.... My previouse target temperature was 250°C..by gazoox - Ormerod
This thing is annoying. Still have the problem present, but reduced. PTFE band sealing and tightening on higher temperature. My last option (I think) is to add a nut from top against the heaterblock to add an extra sealing force... Are there any other ideas?by gazoox - Ormerod
Quotedc42 The schematic for the FAN0 output is the same as for the extruder heater output. The PCB layout shows that the PCB traces in the FAN0 circuit are very thick, although that area of the circuit has fewer thermal vias than the extruder 0 heater output. I think it would easily handle 2A. One thing to watch is that the FAN0 output has no flyback diode. Therefore, if the fan you will be drivby gazoox - Ormerod
Hi. How do you estimate the max power I could use from the F0 FAN? I'd like to connect a high power fan ~15Watt ,maybe 1A According to datasheet, the mosfet is capable of that power (and even much more), but I have doubt if the board is able to handle this power output (other cirduit parts or inner board connection). Thanks.. The PTFE sealing helps until now.... It leaking comes back I will use the other method.by gazoox - Ormerod
Hello. I couldn't resist to try those cheap E3d replica hotends.. In comparison to original Ormerod 0,5 and 0,3 I cannot see much difference in quality (so far). The china model has 0,4mm. Problem: Even after unscrew the heater block and more thighten against the brass nozzle, plastic squeezes out of the upper thread. Every 15 minutes, the top must be cleaned. Inside the heater block the brassby gazoox - Ormerod

Hi ( @ DC42, Zombiepantshlol) Is it possible to connect automatically to the 3d printer when the web frontend is opened? It's little bit annoying for pressing the connect button after first load. I'm using firefox. BR gazooxby gazoox - Ormerod
Does this mean when accelerating from zero to (for example) 500mm/min, the accelleration will OVERSHOT to 1200mm/min, then controll to 500mm/min ? Can I use slow speed (below minimum speed) without doubt or is there a rule to have a minimum speed for all movements?by gazoox - Ormerod
