Richokarl, Just tried your suggestion with a DXF file used in printing text in SCAD linear_extrude(height = 5) import("]"); It failed with the following message: ERROR: Unsupported file format while trying to import file "]" Gregby GregL - Ormerod
Ormerod 1 #17 I have been getting the occasional heater error message. Applied your step 3, Ian. Selected 235 for the heater, and it went up on full power to 234.1 and levelled instantly. Stayed around 234.0 - 234.3. Set bed to 110, and the heater dropped to 233.5 plus or minus a little bit. Bed has got to 89 so far - looking good. Keep your fingers crossed. Ian and David Thanks - all operational now. Gregby GregL - Ormerod
Thanks Erik, Moved the sensor cable to pin 6. HomeX now works fine, and the Z probe number changes with height. All I am trying at the moment, is to get RepRapPro's firmware, and web page to talk to each other correctly. All three axes move in the correct directions from the web page. The bed heater works correctly. The heater does not come on when "Heater 1 active (T0)" is set to 170 deg I canby GregL - Ormerod
Thanks Darathy. Not able to follow that link you gave. Any other way to get to it?by GregL - Ormerod
So far, I have not attempted to run a Gcode file. I have installed the firmware and software as specified by RepRapPro, and the Z probe is the original as supplied. No wiring changes. On startup, Chrome connects automatically Home X will simply raise the Z axis, move a few mm in the +ve direction and then drop back in the Z axis. An execution of X+10 also moves in the +ve direction Z probe is retby GregL - Ormerod

I'm the proud owner of Ormerod #17. Been running fine with Matt's web interface (0.65 I think) and DC's firmware - until Gcode drag and drop stopped working! Decided to go to RepRapPro's Ormerod 1 software, and upgrade firmware and htm files accordingly. Drag and Drop works fine, but the printer doesn't. Three issues found so far 1. X axis does not zero properly - the sensor does not go to the niby GregL - Ormerod
Quotebitfield I have just completed my first Ormerod build and successfully printed the snowman (more or less). Some adjustments need to be done of course. But what I do find is the web interface being extremely unreliable. Currently it's being more or less completely unresponsive. Sometimes I'm able to open up the web interface and hit the connect button but soon after it freezes and when I tryby GregL - Ormerod
Looks like there might be a pricing error somewhere. It appears that the hardware kit is only ten pounds cheaper than the whole kit. Most of their other printers have around sixty pounds difference.by GregL - Ormerod
Quotestatic65 I'm also going to have to turn the accelerations down a bit I think, especially when I attempt tall prints! I'll keep the updates coming when I get around to testing. You only need to worry about the Y acceleration - the others are not affected by the height of the print Gregby GregL - Ormerod

Quotedmould I'm now on MkV of my quadcopter - the body is 100% 3D printed. Dave (#106) This sounds very interesting Dave. I have some experience with engineering and electronics, so home design and build is what I would aim for. I don't have any experience with quadcopters, or R/C flying - so my question is: where is a good place to start? Gregby GregL - Ormerod
I always click on the 'Last Post', and then scroll back through the discussion looking for start of the postings marked 'new' in red Gregby GregL - Ormerod
I agree that another stepper might just as well be used as a separate extruder. Something smaller should be sufficient - like a two position spring loaded actuator. I was rather hoping DC, or someone else, would come back and say ' we can use ...'by GregL - Ormerod
My thinking on this runs as follows: 1. Single hot end with 'train track' junction for the two filaments 2. Spring loaded extruder already shown to work 3. Two sides of the hobbed drive are available So we require: Two Bowden tubes leading to the new Y junction at the hot end Single extruder, with some magic DC firmware to reverse direction depending on whether the A or B side is selected Pivoteby GregL - Ormerod
I am not sure that is strictly correct Andy. If the extrusion rate is fixed at some maximum, the it is the combined XYZ speed which is important - that is, the speed in the X direction could limit the speed in the other two directions. Gregby GregL - Ormerod
I drilled a vertical hole (in the sensor area) so that part of a paperclip slid down the hole and into the groove in the bearing - locks it perfectly, and is easy to remove when needed. Gregby GregL - Ormerod
Kim, David I found that Firefox never detected the bin, so now use Chrome for my Ormerod and FF for everything else Gregby GregL - Ormerod
Hi ChristopherR, I don't know whether it is the cause of your problem, but I had quite a few odd things happen when Slic3r created a M190 gcode - as it was not supported in the firmware I was running. Slic3r inserted it because I had no explicit setting for the bed temperature in my 'Custom code' Dmould (I think) showed the Custom G-code (in the Printer Settings tab of Slic3r). I put this in, aby GregL - Ormerod
David, can you remind me of the optimum way to upgrade from my old (065 I think) files? gregby GregL - Ormerod
A major part of Ormerod's success is down to Ian's presence here on the various forums - ably backed by the rest of the Tech Support team at RepRapPro. Equally important has been the input to this forum - over 10 thousand postings in about six months. Phenomenal develoment input from many (dc42 and iamburny in particular). I had not quite realised how much of a 'kit' I was getting, and was closeby GregL - Ormerod
Erik, Would you post that file again for the nozzle mount. I've looked, but failed to find it! Gregby GregL - Ormerod
Sli3er still inserting the M190 - any idea where that has come from? I have not updated it at all, and I cannot find mention of M190 in any of the AppData stuff It certainly never appeared previously. Hot end tightened and levelled up - now printing some more replacement parts in PLA (after I manually corrected the new M190's)by GregL - Ormerod
Interesting. Sli3er put that in - not me. I think I may have put in the G10 command in the middle of the custom G code. Will try later - trying currently to sort out the sagged hot endby GregL - Ormerod
Using 057y firmware and 065 web control via Chrome – working well together for some considerable time. Trying several times to print a new x-carriage in ABS, with zero success. Always using SD drop to transfer the file, then do an SD print. Usually manual head(240) and bed(120) heating whilst doing the Z axis setting. Mostly the printer moves to the start position, with the bed light on and tempby GregL - Ormerod

I am trying this inexpensive enclosure - no positive ABS results yet (mainly due to a corrupted Micros SD card I think). Sorry about the image - only way I could find to cut down the 2.7Mb file was to put it in OpenOffice and export as pdf. Gregby GregL - Ormerod
When do you sleep David? Seems to me that you are putting 25 hr days! Gregby GregL - Ormerod
How about using the height sensing method of the DamBuster Lancasters - or something similar. They used angled searchlights on each wing, such that the beams coincided along the centre line of the aircraft when at the exact required height (50 feet I think). If we can rely on the reflective nature of the surface, then a laser (from a laser pointer perhaps) angled down at, say, 45 degrees to aimby GregL - Ormerod
