Hi TMD_RS436 , Looks like its the same RS issue as you. I spent more than 2 hours total call time with RS help line too. Strange that, their order can't be cancel and just leave it like that.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Treth , Yes , I'm one of those lucky guy who successfully purchased one of the Raspberry Pi from their very first batch. I've been told by local RS help line ,that RS web system actually not linked worldwide in real time. My first order delayed for few days before it upload to UK branch and its all gone. order cancelled. RS informed that second order will deliver by 23th of Dec, but thby tru168 - Ormerod
I totally agree that the M5 threaded z-rod need to be cover by something, it could easily poke your eye out. Please share STL file if you guys come out with a rounded cover for that.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Markus, May I know how's the 0.12mm layer printout going ? Just wish to know if Ormerod really can handle that hi-res quality prints as advertised. My main intention to get a 3D printer just for printing hi-res small parts. Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
QuoteTMD_RS436 I am already behind schedule of creating our prototype enclosure by about 3 weeks due to RS messing up my order, however I have it all built now so all is not bad now. Looks like I'm not alone ! I ordered early Dec, and RS messed up my order and cancelled , re-ordered, messed up again , and still waiting for my third order and been informed by RS that Ormerod will be deliver bby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, Most of ATX power only provide 5V and 3.3V which are well regulated, and 12V rail not directly regulated. PC needs accurate 5v and 3.3V for electronics but as for 12v , it just for fan or maybe build in audio amplifier etc, that's why precise regulated 12V rail not really necessary in PC. ATX power supply can be use in most 3d printers without problem , because ATX can supply enough curreby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Dc42, Thanks for the info about the Duet board ratings. seems ok to use 15V, and don't forget the 12V fan, although 3 V higher than its ratings , some small brushless fan can't really take any voltage higher than its rating. I don't know what fan Ormerod used, but thats a small problem if you want to operate it at 15 V , either drop its voltage a little or just use other type of fan whicby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi DC42, I repair bunch of industrial power supply everyday. The one that you show is industrial power supply, its not expensive at all. If I'm using Ormerod, I will use one like this., which is far reliable than ATX . By following this forum, I can see the hot end plus heated bed consumption around 16A, and 4 stepper motor will draw nearly 1A each , especially when we print a circle. I wilby tru168 - Ormerod
While still waiting for mine to arrive, I look at those problems in this forums for the past 2 weeks and I wonder if I can make it print successfully. Now I started to lost interest in Ormerod already........by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Victors, I'm from Asia country , ordered Ormerod 15th from RS but been messed up and re-order twice and still waiting for Ormerod to arrive. ( RS said estimate will be end of this month ) While waiting, I'm looking at this forums and feels that its a little "dangerous " to gamble with this machine. I spend nearly 2 months of my salary on this machine, I'm an electronic technician for theby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, I still waiting for my Ormerod to arrive , and I don't know the the bed material is MDF. I don't like MDF too, I'm in Asia country with hot and humid weather. condense humidity will soften MDF a little, and while operating, the thin MDF board heat up a little and might warp. I have several prototype using MDF with bad luck.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, I don't know if its already done by Duet firmware, but I will suggest Software developer can use PWM output to switch on and off the MOSFET for heater, to act as soft start by ramping its output . That might reduce surge current on power rail.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hmmm, Don't know why but some other printer might have the same problem :by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi all, From my previous experienced of multiwii quadcopter board and brushless gimbal which come with micro USB port, I broke quite a lot of micro USB sockets which is soldered on the board directly. My recent CNC having the same problem too, and a quick mod by drill a hole on the casing and add a printer USB to micro USB adapter will solve my problem . Here's what I used : Hope this helby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi guys, Thanks for the answer. Yes , I mean stepper motor. been built several CNC but still have typo sometimes , especially I'm repairing / building RC models recently and always mentioned "servo" in aero-modelling. Downloaded A4982 data sheet, technical data seems similar with A4988 but double in physical size.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi all, Just wonder if servo driver IC on the new duet board need heat sink ? servo current pre-set in firmware or in config file ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi hughesie, May I know what have you done with no 1, 2 and 3 ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Oops! Been with Marlin firmware for quite sometimes and forgot this new Duet board not running arduino based Marlin firmware!by tru168 - Ormerod
Thanks Markus for sharing, and good solution too. I wonder if its happened on every Ormerod due to design fault? any others Ormerod users facing the same problem? Nice useful IR thermal cam you have there !by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Rory, play in x-axis sounds like a serious problem on precision machine like 3d printer. applying tape on it just a temporary cure, lets see what Ormerod owners or Reprap-Pro can come out with a good solution. Let us know if you successfully modified yours. Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi , You need proper SD and Ethernet library, I don't know if this suit your duet ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi dc42 . Yes , most of industrial IR sensors are modulated to prevent unwanted interference. I repaired one of my customer's CNC last week, and that machine using hall sensors for homing, thats why I'm thinking of using magnets and hall sensors.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Rory You are so lucky ! Yes I can print a set as spare, now what I wish is RS will ship the Ormerod to my door step in time. My re-order stated will ship 23th Dec, but I've been informed today that it will be delay until end of January ! How I wish I can order directly from RepRapPro, our local RS always make a lot of order mistake!by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, Seems like light sensitive sensors are not suitable as homing sensor in real bright condition ? I've read somewhere people mentioned that he put the Ormerod near window and sunlight shine onto Ormerod and homing problem occur. I really hope that Ormerod will come with something like small magnet with Hall effect sensor as homing sensor. Still waiting for mine, RS ruined my order twiceby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Treth Thanks for info, I ordered red color limited version by 15th and the status on RS page shows that it will ship by 17th of this month, but few days later it shows discontinued !! Frankly speaking , I don't like green color. I will prefer black or something, but now I have no choice. Called RS today, and my previous order will be refunded after 2 weeks , and while I place another orderby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi all, I placed an order and paid to RS Malaysia for an Ormerod 3d printer about a week ago. While waiting for the stock turns available, I checked our local RS page again and it shows "discontinued item" I called RS Malaysia and they said discontinued means they will be no more shipping Ormerod. I check RS-UK immediately, and status shows "temporary out of stock" I'm very disappointed that Iby tru168 - Ormerod
