Thanks Ray Can you elaborate on Quoterayhicks Using the openGL renderer and placing a "#" in front of the primitive you're trying to position makes makes for as quick a turnaround for me as struggling to get something in the right place and orientation using just a mouse. that sounds like a useful technique. I hope that with some time visualising the item I want in my head and then enteringby FalseIdle - Ormerod
I have been using FreeCAD and DesignSpark Mechanical in tandem to design the same simple objects and see which feels easier. As others have said DesignSpark is simple to use with easy icon representations and feels quite intuitive, I have managed to make design easily and in some respects using the select tool in selective mode to grab only edges etc has made the work very quick. Quoteormerod168 Quotejohneato I note in your photograph that you have produced a stabliser for the top of the Z drive threaded rod. Do you have a STL you could share for this part. John Ormerod 096 I have made no changes to the z drive whatsoever, it's the original acryl and printed parts, must be an optical illusion :-) ..so nothing to share for now, not much free time at the moment, hope toby FalseIdle - Ormerod
Thanks Matt The slot in mine does hold the belt quite well but I could not get a great tension on it and prints seem to be suffering from the same issues you were having in the y direction. Dan.by FalseIdle - Ormerod
Very smooth curves and some lovely sharp corners. Can I ask what layer height you printed at? Will most definitely be printing these at the weekend, thanks for uploading them. Is there any benefit from the idler tensioning method over this (rather elegant) solution? Do you get finer tensioning? Dan.by FalseIdle - Ormerod
I have a similarly high Z reading as 1.8mm. I believe the idea was to reach less saturated range for the sensor hence the aim for around the 700 range. I have gone with g31 z2.9 p692 what it does is tell the head to move until the IR sensor reads 692 at this point it now knows its 2.9mm from the Z0 point and will move down 2.9mm down by itself. So g31 z3.2 p650 would be right for you. I shouldby FalseIdle - Ormerod
Hi kd3i I have been lurking about here since Christmas after I received what I assume to be one of the first Green RepRapPro Ormerods (On Christmas Eve). I will bore you all with my build in another post but you seem to have the same few same problems I had, so its about time I join in. My nozzle was the same height +-0.1mm as the fan ducts and the sensor and one of the 2 would always rip the 1by FalseIdle - Ormerod
