No, No. My Ormerod is going nowhere! I love it. This is one on ebay with a DC42 Board included (unpacked) so will worth a punt for spares though I think nearer £100 for the bid. I keep breaking off the photocell receiving part on my DC42 board when I set the nozzle too close to the sensor board (Catches on stray/bad prints when I'm not watching!). really need a couple of mm. IMO.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Here's another one for you!by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Thanks WesBrooks That's great. Works a treat. I'm using some old ABS filament which is working just about. A few air bubbles but prints well. Where's the best place to purchase good filament these days?by Jon Steward - Ormerod
I've got the metal x and bed support from Dave. Not updated the Z, still using 5mm threaded rod. I'm just trying to carry out bed levelling using the auto bed command which now requires a bed.g file with probe points. (old setbed file type thing) Just need to know the content for the file. Cheersby Jon Steward - Ormerod
OK. I'm not brave enough to go all the way having digested some of the firmware changes. So going to 1.19 first from 1.17. I notice that M557 code no longer supported and bed.g required. Is there any info on the code for the bed.g file?by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Thanks for your help.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
All's working as before. Time to update the firmware. I'm currently using Web 1.14-b4 and Firmware 1.17 Anything I should watch out for? or just go for it? Cheers Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Quotedc42 QuoteJon Steward I have an issue with the 5th probe result! Makes my bed look very strange. I should try to level the other four but the auto bed level works well for me. Otherwise all working well apart from a slight 15-20 second delay in 'live' information displayed on the web browser after a reset or emergency stop. It freezes up, although I still have full control. Great work. Thanby Jon Steward - Ormerod
I'll check that Dave. However, I have an aluminium bed which is almost perfectly flat. Thanks Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
I'm still using the original glass that came with my Ormerod 1. It appears that the glass is fairly unstable so I was thinking about using a thicker piece. What are others using?by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Hi Duet and Duet WiFi users, I have just released firmware 1.17RC3 for Duet WiFi at and for Duet 0.6/0.8.5 at . As usual with git, to download the files you find there you must follow the link to the file and then press the Raw button. Chrishamm has made a Duet Web Control 1.14 beta release available and I have included it in the above locations. Please upgrade the main firmware firsby Jon Steward - Duet

Looks to me like your bed isn't level and your nozzle may be too close to the print surface, otherwise might be your print settings.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Funny that! I had very similar problem today with the x drive faltering, juddering and stopping. Increased motor current and things worked again for a while then faulted again. The problem turned out to be the motor cable connector was loose on the duet. Pushed it back in and job done. Thanks Sven for your post or I might still be scratching my head!by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Thanks for all those suggestions. Plenty for me to look at there. A colleague of mine uses Rhino at his work which is useful for guidance. I've downloaded a 90 day trial plus some of your suggestions. Many thanks Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Hi I've made a few basic enclosures and covers also cylindrical objects with openscad. I'd like to move on to a package which requires less coding to write and simpler to use. Any recommendations? Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Quotedmould There is definitely one of those difficult-to-diagnose bugs in the web interface and/or network code. Most times the web interface is perfect, but every now and again it will disconnect, seemingly at random, sometimes with an Ajax error reported, sometimes not. Thereafter I cannot reconnect to the printer unless I either power-cycle the printer or use a different browser to connect.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
What surfaces are you both printing on? I'm direct to glass with a vinegar wipe. I tried acetone wipe with no improvement. Also tried one of those German aluminium beds with the magic coating. Didn't get on with that so back to direct glass for me. With the 0.3 nozzle I do get a slight corner lift which improves the lower I set the bed temperature. 102 degrees is my current lowest at 90 the printby Jon Steward - Ormerod
I've been messing about with a 0.3 nozzle and abs. Found that the print quality is finer but produces weaker structures. Anyone had experience? Cheers Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Could the problem be with the filament you are using. I had some black abs which produced similar problems to what you are experiencing.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
Hi Peter I've gone through this process of upgrade with my Ormerod 1 I bought and tried both the .3mm and the .5mm nozzle. Difference being the print quality. More accurate with the .3mm just like the original nozzle so I guess the original is a .3mm I purchased .3 and .5mm quick sets. Both work well with the new hot end assembly once you get it all working. You're a little behind if you.ve noby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Hi I had a similar issue recently. The only solution I found was to replace the nozzle with a new one from reprap. As my ormerod is an old mk 1 I had to upgrade the hot end to take the newer nozzle. I'm not sure what caused the problem. My best guess is that the nozzle got contaminated by some ABS filament from ebay, Regards Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Hi All I've just fitted a new hot end kit from Reprap. My Ormerod 1 is working fine again. Nice smooth extraction, filament coming out clean with no blemishes, print quality much improved. I can only conclude that the nozzle and hotend became contaminated for some unknown reason. I think I'll bin the cheap black ebay ABS filament just in case it's to do with that. Thanks Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Update. So far I've tried altering the Extruder current (currently working ok at 750) and various nozzle temperatures with PLA and ABS. Looked at whether the thermistor is at fault. All seems OK. When extruding with the hot end raised well above the bed I notice that the filament coming out is rough. So I'm thinking that this is the nozzle at fault. Do I attempt to clean the nozzle, if so how? (mby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Thanks for all your replies. To give more detail.. I've observed that the 'hobbed' nut in the extruder is cutting into the filament. (there's a half moon shape of a few mm in the filament) The filament then cannot be gripped to extrude. This happens with different filaments and prints. I've not changed any settings but I have updated to DC's latest though I think that's fine. I'm going to try thby Jon Steward - Ormerod
Hi There! I'm having this issue, I know it's happened before but I forgot what causes it and how to cure it! It's like there's too much force on the hot end from the filament. Could it be my nozzle is impeded or I've got the wrong extrusion rate in my config (currently E414) Thanks Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
That is an impressive looking Quad. Two camera's too! I'll aspire to that one next. Mines definitely an entry level option. Good fun though.by Jon Steward - Ormerod
I'll try too. I'll PM my address Jonby Jon Steward - Ormerod
That's interesting Dave. This is my first attempt at Quadcopters and you're right about the difficulty flying these things. The design I've used has the battery Velcro'd to the underside so the weight is low down and feels stable. Once I've got the knack of flying I'll brave to mount my Gopro on the top. Crashing would be 'eye wateringly' expensive!by Jon Steward - Ormerod
