QuoteFalseIdle@Steve Firstly thank you for designing this add on and sharing it here, I was not looking forward to reprinting a large integral part of the machine and dismantle the x-axis mount to add the extra tab and this is such an elegant solution. I was sure I was doing something wrong as it hits so far short of the bed for me and clearly did not cause yourself or others the issue. If I postby stevelup - Ormerod
I designed the original version of that, and I'm a bit puzzled to be honest. On my unit nothing comes close to fouling it! I wonder what is different.by stevelup - Ormerod
QuoteGregLMeanwhile I am back to printing - until that damned Bowden peg jumps out again!!! Hi Print 'extruder-tongue-new' from iamburny's OrmerodUpgrades github. It works perfectly. ps. you need support enabled to print that part successfully.by stevelup - Ormerod
I'm running much lower temps than you. 185/185 and 55/50. Might be worth a try. Also, make sure the bed is spotlessly clean - I wipe mine with IPA before prints.by stevelup - Ormerod
Are you using the new web interface? If so, press pause, then the reset button that appears after pressing pause. I think the old web interface only has a STOP button. That kills the unit and it needs a reset/power cycle to bring it back to life.by stevelup - Ormerod
Quotedc421. Were you printing from SD card, or direct over Ethernet? 2. Did you have the USB cable connected, and if so, did you have Arduino serial monitor, or Pronterface, or nothing talking to the Duet via the USB port? I thought I had replied to this, sorry. 1) SD card 2) No, unfortunately not - so I have no diagnostic data. I'll try the same print this evening with the serial monitor runnby stevelup - Ormerod
Sorry, bad news. It just crashed 1hr41 into a 2hr30 job. This has never happened before (not one crash through 1kg of filament) - I think something isn't quite right. Basically, unit suddenly just stopped moving, and head temperature began running away. Was alerted to the problem due to nasty smell!by stevelup - Ormerod
After a hard reboot of the Ormerod, and a restart of my machine, it's working now - thanks!by stevelup - Ormerod
Hi, Not working for me I'm afraid. Firmware definitely updated OK:- >>>M115 SENDING:M115 FIRMWARE_NAME:RepRapFirmware FIRMWARE_VERSION:0.57z-dc42 ELECTRONICSuet DATE:2014-04-08 Web stuff definitely in place as the title bar shows V0.68-dc42, but I just get a blank window. Tried both Chrome and Safari. All the scripts are loading but the main page hangs. Was working fine previously!by stevelup - Ormerod
The first things I did were iamburnys helical gear sets for the Z-axis and extruder. Also, the 'extruder tongue' - it's quite annoying having the extruder Bowden cable pop out half way through a print!by stevelup - Ormerod
Try reversing the polarity of the thermistor connection at the Duet end. The fan can't run backwards - if you had the polarity wrong, it wouldn't work at all. Have you re-assembled it the right way round? The unprotected spinning bit should be on the outside and the label on the inside.by stevelup - Ormerod
Hi folks, As an alternative to re-printing the X-Axis motor mount, please find below my sensor tab. This mounts using the screw holes already present in the motor mount for a mechanical end stop. It will work both with and without the ultrasonic sensor.by stevelup - Ormerod
I don't believe you actually have Cash's presets loaded - those look like the Cura defaults. A really easy way to check is to look at the Start GCode and see if this line is present:- M203 X6000 Y6000 Z500 E3000 ; will allow 100mm/s sliced gcodes to work... if they have time/distance to get up to speed If it isn't, then you're running the default settings.by stevelup - Ormerod
Manual tests confirm this is now fixed - many thanks! Just doing a print job now...by stevelup - Ormerod
Thanks!by stevelup - Ormerod
dc42, could you please let me know where I can find a mechanical drawing of the ultrasonic transducer. I'm going to design a mounting bracket for it, but could do with accurate dimensions.by stevelup - Ormerod
Brilliant - I'll give it a whirl tonight.by stevelup - Ormerod
My machine is untouched since last night, so if you need anything re-testing, just shout!by stevelup - Ormerod
Quotedc42You can check how well the bed levelling probing is working like this. First, execute M561 to clear the bed transform. Then go to your first M557 probe point, raise the nozzle to 5mm, and execute G30. This is equivalent to homing the Z axis at that point, except that it doesn't actually put the nozzle at Z=0. Then check how accurate the height is, e.g. by doing G0 Z0 and checking that thby stevelup - Ormerod
- Is the bed level mechanically? It's as level as I can get it. I'm using your brilliant aluminium part. Rear left, rear right, front right and dead centre all perfect with a feeler gauge. Front left is 0.5mm low. I really don't know how or why this is possible, so I was hoping the bed compensation would sort this last little defect out. Maybe we need an x-shaped bed instead so all four cornersby stevelup - Ormerod
Mine's all in and working. Haven't done anything with the ultrasonic part yet. Rather than re-printing the whole motor bracket so the end stop works, I just glued an L shaped piece of photo paper onto the existing post - works fine! The good news is... Everything worked first time, the fan control is great and the lights are nice. The IR is now perfectly immune against rogue light sources. Theby stevelup - Ormerod
Aha... I deleted Cura 14.03 and found 14.01 in the 'old versions' section. Printing is working fine now - so it does look like something may be broken in 14.03. I like Cura - the GUI is really nice, and the printing seems a lot more 'intelligent' with far fewer unnecessary movements - in particular when filling. The 'combing' feature is neat to watch.by stevelup - Ormerod
I'm having little success with this. Randomly, it just starts extruding in mid air 5mm above the print bed. Stopping and restarting the job fixes it. When it does work, it's leaving large blobs everywhere which the nozzle just smears all over the place. I must be missing something here as other people are having success. Using the plugin and settings from GitHub.by stevelup - Ormerod
Mine's installed - perfect fit and much more stable. Just tinkering with alignment now.by stevelup - Ormerod
Received this morning - looks superb, thanks!by stevelup - Ormerod
Hi I'd like one of these please if you have any left? Thanks, Steveby stevelup - Ormerod
Can someone advise if the following homing strategy is sound? 1) Home X and Y 2) Manually home Z using the same target position I used for the first bed compensation setting. 3) Run job ensuring any G28 commands are commented out I'm getting inconsistent results. Sometimes the nozzle goes so low that it rips the Kapton tape, other times it's too high and doesn't adhere. Every now and then,by stevelup - Ormerod
Hi Folks, Got my machine finished yesterday and have to say my first two prints (snowman and coat hook of course) look great. Took quite a bit of tinkering and hair pulling at first, but got there in the end. Couple of questions. 1) What's the optimum height of the nozzle above the bed? 2) Bed Plane Compensation - doesn't seem to do anything! I've done this three times now:- M561 M556 S100by stevelup - Ormerod
