QuoteWaltermixx hmmmm... as far as the fan is concerned there appears to be a space for an extruder fan not currently being used: labeled extruder fan, i wonder if it's controllable, or is always on... this should do for the cooling fan if always on... does anyone know if it's ok if the extruder fan (the one on the extruder) can always be on? instead of using D9 for the extruder fan, anby dougal1957 - Prusa i3 and variants
@Angelo I PM'd you the other day but yes think I will be ordering a RADDS board next week (In fact know I will be) but would like to know if it will support thermocouples even if it need a add on board to do the conversion? Doug Quoteangelo @dougal coool :-) Can I help? -> I have also ordered some more Extrusion for my 4 uprights and have gone for 45x45 at 1 mtr long which will allow me tby dougal1957 - CoreXY Machines
Quotekaragad Hi, somebody use E3D extruder? Is it good quality? Need I use a fan? They are absolutely top notch Quality and the easiest to actually extrude that I know (You can hand push PLA thru them at 185 degrees with minimal hand pressure) they come with a small fan and housing that clips over the body and the thing is so efficient that with the nozzle at 235 degs the top of the housing is sby dougal1957 - Plastic Extruder Working Group
Quotejand @Doug I did not do a real speed test to figure out the max speed. I normally print at 60 to 80 mm/s. I once did a test at 100 mm/s which gives acceptable results as you can see in this video You can see some images of the result of this test here: I guess the max speed will be around 120 mm/s in this configuration, that is with a gregs extruder on the carriage. I Have read somewhere that PC PSU's do need to detect some load on the 5V rails else they won't output correctly see this taken from Greg's I3 Kits Granted this is for a UK PSU but the technique should be the same and is certainly worth a try! - Power supply for standard RepRap 3D printers. @ZeologiK & @JanD Have you guys done any Speed benchmarking yet Would like to know What sort of Max print speed you are getting. Got my Trapezoidal Leadscrews delivered today 3 off 1mtr long TR10x2 Screwed rods and 3 off Hexagonal Nuts for them for cost of Eur 10.50 per pair so 31.50 for all 3 which I think is very good (from DOLD). Waiting on a few more bits and I can continue my build.by dougal1957 - CoreXY Machines
QuoteMrDoctorDIV Thanks for the suggestions, but something as bulky as a waffle iron would be too much weight for the benefits in my mind. If worst comes to worst I know a few companies that will make custom shaped silicone/polymide film heaters. I don't have any printed parts, and I plan to keep it that way the entire build. At a maximum, aesthetic parts will be printed, but I hope to avoid evenby dougal1957 - Reprappers
E3D-online are the makers and are a UK Based company on the Isle of Wight. Give them a ring and they will be able to sort you out and it is an excellent HotEnd by the way. HTH Dougby dougal1957 - Reprappers
Have redesigned my XY Blocks and X Carriage now. Have also ordered some better 10mm rods for the X and some TR10x2 Trapezoidal Leadscrews and nuts and have also decided to change the Corner upright Extrusion's to 45x45mm at 1 mtr long. This will allow me to lift everthing up a little to allow for the Z Axis motor and electronics below and additional room above everything for the Bowden Extruderby dougal1957 - CoreXY Machines
Seems there are 2 different configs in the online Configurator. Can someone explain the differences for me please? Thanks in advance Now answered in the Repetier Forums.by dougal1957 - Repetier
Marty Look here for Acme screws/nut's I have some Delrin nuts on there way to me $22 for 3 Tr 10 x 2 nuts which I didn't think was to bad? Dougby dougal1957 - Mechanics
@Jland Yes I realise that Now however I think I am there with this as I have managed to get things to look right (I am using 30x30 extrusion for the frame.) I have managed to re-do the XY Blocks and they seem ok and also the X carriage to accommodate the X3D Kraken block (which is very small). so hopefully good to go just need to make sure all the idler's are aligned correctly. Not in the 16mm diam Y carriage and there is so little weight on the X that the 10mm rod is pretty solid also so No. don't think there would be with 8 mm rod to be honest But I am still not happy with the Y Carriages Wonder if JLAND if you read this is there any chance you could modify your STL's for me to take LM16UU bearings (28mm outside diameter and 10mm dia Rods for the X spaced at 76mm.)by dougal1957 - CoreXY Machines
Well here is the photos of the assembled Frame and Carriages. Think I may have to re-think the Y carriages as they take up to much room Any Comments welcome Got the Y carriage prob sorted simple really turn the X Carriage upside down so it Hangs from rather than sits on the rails gives me the full 400 mm + of movement to cope with all 4 extruder hot ends. Hi all Been following this thread for a while and am under way with my own build which is going to be 660x660x660 outside using 30x30 type B extrusion from Motodis, this will give 600x600x600 internal and will use 16mm rods for the Y axis 12mm rods for the Z axis (X4 1 in each corner) and 10 mm rods for the X Axis. Will be using a E3D Kraken 4 head hotend with Bowden Extruders Nema 23 on the Zby dougal1957 - CoreXY Machines
