Quotedc42 T3P3 still sells Duet 0.6 boards as well as the 0.8.5 and WiFi. See . Didn't re-alise that Tony still did the 0.6 boards so I stand corrected Dougby dougal1957 - Reprappers
QuoteRlewisrlou666 I couldn't find any Duets for that cheap. I was looking at the RADDS but they need an Arduino Due so £40 for the RADDS + £25 for the Due and you are looking at £65 plus the extras on top of that drivers and everything else. looks like the cost has risen to £74 but see Duet 0.6 I can vouch foir the supplier tho never actually used him he is one of the original Director's/dby dougal1957 - Reprappers
QuoteJamesK I just ordered another RAMPS based electronics package. You can't beat the value at around 30 USD including the graphical LCD (so thats mega2560, ramps, 5xdrv8825 and the LCD). Duet wifi looks like the outright best designed controller card to me, but I find the price intimidating in the short term. There's no doubt that 32bit is the way to go in terms of ease of use and increased ceiby dougal1957 - Reprappers
QuoteRlewisrlou666 @Doug - I'm in Chepstow, I found a PCB supplier that will sell me some copper clad in the size I need I just have to design something to etch onto it or find someone who knows how to work eagle that can help me design a Gerber file to send to them for a price on making the heater for me. I would forget the PCB idea if I were you and look towards a silicon one see 400x400 siby dougal1957 - Reprappers

QuoteRlewisrlou666 Thanks for the link elwood127 I'm in the UK though. Where in the UK I you want good Aluminium Toolpalt look at look at ecocast in the Plate section 6mm thick is a good solution When it comes to mounting it use just 3 screws 2 corner and centre of the opposite side any more than this and you may find it extremely difficult to level without introducing a twist in the platby dougal1957 - Reprappers
QuoteRlewisrlou666 Thank you for the advice guys I'll ask my Brother In Law what sheet metals they do at his place. @dougal1957 - Would I be able to run a heater of that wattage through an SSR to make it more usable without the need for a 1000w Power Supply? If it were me (Especially as you say your bed will be static) then go for an AC Heater driven with an SSR (Get a good one rather than aby dougal1957 - Reprappers
QuoteRlewisrlou666 Thanks for the reply JamesK I have a sheet of 1.5mm Aluminium that I've been saving for a project. I'm was thinking of using that as a bed with a coating on it. 1.5 mm thick will not be enough it will warp under heat like a good un? Would recomend you look at some 5mm or even thicker cast Tool plate for your bed and takeing your size would defo go for 6 or thicker but 6 shouby dougal1957 - Reprappers

The Common Traxas joints have a 3mm hole in the Balls and a M4 tapped hole in the rod part of the Plastic or you could use Igus KBRM-03 ends if you want to go a bit better but they are a little larger physically Dougby dougal1957 - Delta Machines
QuoteDjDemonD That's also well worth considering, the cups in the magnets are fairly shallow, and when the rods are fairly low angle to the effector they can almost slip out of the cups, I wonder if a string/spring tensioner would help or whether they would slip out anyway due to the angle. The flying extruder is essentially an elastic link pulling the effector towards the carriages. Its also wby dougal1957 - Delta Machines
QuoteDjDemonD One other issue with this magnet system that might be coming into play here, does this seem logical? The balls are not magnets, at least until they are attached to the magnets in the carriages, then they will become magnetised. Since the machine sits at rest with the arms at around 60 degrees to the effector, the balls develop a north and south pole over time. This might be lesby dougal1957 - Delta Machines

Thanks for that update DD I was thinking of using 10 mm plate on my next printer but think I will stick with 6 the bed is going to be around 600mm Diameter think I am going to need something close to 1kW heater on it as well? Dougby dougal1957 - Reprappers

Yes they are reputable in fact the owner is one of the original RepRapPRo director's. Dougby dougal1957 - Duet
I drilled a 2mm Dia hole almost thru the Plate and another M3 hole for the screw to hold the Thermister in place you could always get a Threaded cartridge type Semitec Thermister from Ebay if you wish as well I don't personally think you need a PT100 for the bed and a thermister is plenty adequate? Dougby dougal1957 - Reprappers
I to didn't like the thermistor in my Silicon heater (They actually tend to be under the Silicon ie the side away from the Bed. What I did (My heater is slightly smaller than my Bed) is to fit a Semitec Thermister E3D V6 Style at the edge of the heater pad and allow a little more in the way of Temp just to make sure the centre is up there at the temp I need ps mine is a delta so is a round bedby dougal1957 - Reprappers
Quotew3drk Those little 7805s can run pretty hot, so if it's working OK I guess you could just see what happens. Do you have it fastened down to a metal surface to sink the heat away? I don't use one with my copy of the Duet 0.6--I just use the on-board bucking converter so I'm not familiar with how the external one mounts. Quotew3drk Oh, so the regulator board is also used as a pass-through for the 24V power! So that's a different problem...if I were you I'd connect your heavy 24v power cables directly to the Duet and then feed the 5v regulator separately. There's really no need to pass all that current through those extra connections. Or use the onboard 5V regulator like most of us do there is a %V Enable jumpeby dougal1957 - Duet
That crimp should do the job If you are still having probs with grip etc you could get Hitachi Connector Set and replace the Headers on the Ramps Board At least you will know that the Headers and connector pins will be compatible Dougby dougal1957 - Reprappers
Quotemat_fr Ho, sorry Dave I hadn't seen your answer. And reading it I realize I hadn't the right rod in mind as I was talking about the Z axis I have replaced the X axis arm by an aluminum version and I suppose it would be a good idea to have the end plates as well. But honnestly I don't know how to find these (for the arm I ordered it from this forum actually). Check outby dougal1957 - Ormerod

I tend to agree that a running Change log would be a good idea. Doug. Quoten8bot dc42, whenever you release a firmware update you tend to write a small blurb about it on the forums (here or duet3d). Would you mind putting those blurbs into a running text file and putting it in the release folder on your github?
