QuoteDavek0974 Quoteorictosh Just a thought, That little bolt (nut cut-out) slot is to me a sign that's been made the rap-rap way with laser cutter or any other method. Adding/replacing it with a tapped hole just adds another process for manufacturer. Can't see the reason for a threaded hole. Looking at it that way, all the holes could be replaced with slots - no threads to tap at all then. Iby steve0-uk - Ormerod
QuoteDavek0974 Quoteormerod168 QuoteDavek0974 ..What does everyone else here feel - is there any drawback to swapping the nut cutout for a tapped hole??? Dave Your first edition (for ormerod1) was made that way, no problems with those Erik Really? It was a long while back, cant remember the first batch now I will remove the slot and fit a threaded hole then. put me down of one on your nexby steve0-uk - Ormerod
QuoteDavek0974 Hi Not rude of course, sensible question. The drawing was taken from the original acrylic parts so yes that cutout could very easily be replaced with a tapped hole. What does everyone else here feel - is there any drawback to swapping the nut cutout for a tapped hole??? Dave glad you are OK with it, the only drawback I can think of is that that hole is bigger than the fixing sby steve0-uk - Ormerod
Hi Dave I don't know how easy it would be to do and I hope you don't think me rude to say, but would it be an idea to lose the cut out for the z idler washer and nut and put it as a threaded hole? I have included a pic of where i mean circled in red what do you think? Steveby steve0-uk - Ormerod
QuoteDavek0974 you can do it, use something like Brasso metal polish, its filthy work though, it also marks up easily when polished. [/quote Might just anodize it instead thenby steve0-uk - Ormerod
Quoteunstable Mine turned up too, thanks a lot. Is it just a straight swap for ormerod 2? Totally a straight swap. Should take you about 10 mins to swap them overby steve0-uk - Ormerod

Quotedc42 I think it's safe to manage without the heat spreader up to 65C or so for printing PLA, but wise to keep it if you want to go up to 100C for printing ABS and not using borosilicate glass. My IR sensor was working reasonably well despite the reflection from the aluminium, but a month ago I finally got round to painting it. I used matt black spray-on barbecue/stove paint and cured it inby steve0-uk - Ormerod
Paid my invoice many thanksby steve0-uk - Ormerod
then i shall not bother with one then... I've read that Davids sensor board can give false readings with a shiny surface, so not having the heat spreader with kapton taped glass would that be OK?by steve0-uk - Ormerod

Quote0x0000 Is the RepRapPro logo actually printable? Seems like the closed inner parts of most of the letters (R e p R a p P o and the R in reset) would be made of plastic without any supports? it should print without supports, still not printed one myself yet, I am looking to find parts to build a second one at the moment. if you want, i'll send you over just the wall with the logo on to testby steve0-uk - Ormerod
Quotedougal1957 What about Airflow on the underside of the Board there doesn't appear to be any holes underneath that would allow that to Happen (It is the lower surface of the Board that cools the Stepper's) Don't Get me wrong I like the design apart from the cooling bit Doug it's still a work in progress... as for the underside cooling my O2 has the metal case (mine is one of the very firstby steve0-uk - Ormerod
Quotedougal1957 Quotesteve0-uk Quote0x0000 That looks great! I love the circular connectors - they would come in really handy if you ever had to move the Duet to another printer, or swap it out. here is a screen grab of what i am working on my plan with the bottom is split the lid in two and the lower section have plug in circular connectors for all the wires instead of having them all come out the side. similar to the Lulzbot Taz as shown here then mount a cooling fan in the top half of the lid, probably 40-50 mm in size added to one of the always on fan connectors i am working on aby steve0-uk - Ormerod

Quote0x0000 Quotesteve0-uk I am working on an enclosure based on the O2 For the 0.8.5 duet with a lid to mount a cooling fan. However it is untested. I am willing to release the stl if anyone wants to try it I'd be keen to try it, though it'd have to be one of my first prints!
