The length of the spring isn't too relevant, you make up the length with Spectra. The spring just needs enough force to keep the rods from popping out.by jjazzyj - Delta Machines
Quotemrorange26 Was wondering what firmware to run on cherry pi as havent upgraded my for a year or so and wanted to add inductive sensor. I run the latest Repetier Firmware, it has a few issues I've noticed like small stalls when I print from the Pi based Repetier server. I've mostly resolved those by changing my serial port speed to 250000. I have the switch based probe but I don't really useby jjazzyj - Delta Machines
I've been working on a Cherry Pi IIIs XL for a while. I built it then put out a few prints after quickly (and badly) calibrating it, then had to shelve the project for a while. I bought a heated bed, boro glass and 30A power supply with the goal of upgrading and making the print surface more stable. I also had a goal of making the wiring better and closing up the base a bit better. I have an E3Dby jjazzyj - Delta Machines
Can you post a copy of your configuration.h and configuration_adv.h? Also are you using a geared 3mm extruder or direct drive 1.75mm extruder?by jjazzyj - Printing
Did you heat up your hotend to 210-215 and then tighten the nozzle/heatbreak as per the instructions on the E3D website? All metal hotends all have to be tightened once they heat up to their normal extrusion temperature or else PLA leaks into the threads/out of the threads and it's not always apparent that it's doing this. This in turn causes extra friction and thus more force to be required to eby jjazzyj - Printing
Can you upload your configuration.h? I just finished building a Wilson TS from my own printed parts and it's configuration is similar to my other prusa i3. The default firmware values for the Z axis are way off in terms of feedrate and stepper motor current affects the feedrate as well. Are you using the direct drive extruder or the geared one? Oh send me the Configuration_adv.h as well please.by jjazzyj - Extruded Aluminum Frames
I've given up on Marlin at the moment. The newest Dev version that has way better autoleveling breaks the minute I configure the Z probe endstop with no endstop pullup. Yet another in a long line of Marlin bugs. I switched to Repetier which for the most part is significantly more stable but unfortunately it's autoleveling doesn't work on cartesians very well. I've basically given up on auto bed lby jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
@mandrav I just posted the part to Thingiverse with some install instructions: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1026857by jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
It's looking good. Super clean build. I used DRV8825 and thought they were noisier myself. I find 3D printer fans and associated noises bizzarly relaxing.by jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
I just finished making new motor mounts or 3/4 aluminum tubing for djinn's heavy duty threaded rod Z axis and they turned out pretty good. I did them up in Onshape and I was pretty impressed at how fast it was to design them. Search Onshape for Heavy Duty Z Threaded Rod. Works with the top mount and Z Sled from djinn's heavy duty Z. This way the whole frame can sit flat.by jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
Have you looked at the 20mm or 3/4 Alu tube builds people have done. I'm going to do that with dual Z screw like a few have done. Found a nice bracket for the tube or tslot on Thingiverse. Check out my Recycled MDF thread for what it looks like. I am stacked some short pieces of Alu tube to mount the Z stepper inside the box.by jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
I made individual .stl files of all the parts in the correct orientation required for successful printing. They are for 5/16 or 8mm rod and sized for 19mm which fits either 3/4" Alu tube or 5/8 (16mm) MDF with a cork/foam spacer to help with vibration. Would you like me to post a zip with them? I know they work as successfully built my Smartcore with them. One note is that you may still have toby jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
So I just finished getting this guy working. This is my second printer first is a i3 using the sgraber lasercut melamine frame. The belt Z works, but is a giant pita. belt slips out of the catches doing long moves down the Z axies. Even reprinted it as the first one I printed was a bit iffy. Other than that it's prints are better than my i3 overall. I didn't use 1.75mm filament with it as I haby jjazzyj - Smart_Rap
