After setting EvenHatchDirection and OddHatchDirection to 0 and 90 I got much better results. Think that's because my position accuracy is not good enough, yet. I currently have about 0,25mm but will upgrade it to 0,125mm at least. I also found the parameter for the speed of the outer shell. It's OutlineSpeed. Setting this lower (I use 0.66) does make the shape looks more consistent. After I sby joaz - RepRap Host
I just had this problem too, I accidentally clicked on "Print on SNAP RepRap". If you don't want to loose all your configuration settings, edit the reprap.properties file and look for RepRap_Machine=SNAPRepRap change it to: RepRap_Machine=GCodeRepRapby joaz - RepRap Host

Okay, because it's the most intuitive host software around, I have been using the Java host software. But it gives me some headaches... The "Number of Shells (0..N)" parameter does not always work as expected. If I choose 0 as value, the software crashes on the first printing layer with an ArrayOutOfBoundsException. Setting this to 1 does not give this problem, but doesn't work well for circulby joaz - RepRap Host

Moin, 1.
@neitros: the pin configuration of the cable stayed the same. @stephen: I've been using Arduino Mega all the time now. I don't believe this will be called "gen 4". It's more like a fork of the "gen 2" electronics. It's hard to put than into a linear numbering.by joaz - Controllers
Hi, I made an update to the firmware today. It'll now support 3D gcode (made by skeinforge for example) as well as 5D gcode. Currently, there's only a problem on 3D gcode when driving a stepper motor extruder with the arduino mega directly. It does 1 step and then nothing. Apparently, something with the interrupt function won't work...by joaz - RepRap Host
I've changed that in my firmware. Looks good.by joaz - RepRap Host
Yes, wanted to do this for quite a while. Hope it works for you. If not: I'd love to get this thing bug-free > Which version of the Audrino IDE/sketch are you using this with please? First 0015, then 0016, now 0017. Should work with all of them. btw.. you have to name the folder FiveD_GCode_Interpreter due to an arduino software limitationby joaz - RepRap Host
Hi, I submitted my changes to the 5D firmware to github for arduino mega.by joaz - RepRap Host
No sorry, I don't have the 2.3 Version (and you probably won't find a seller in Europe). I've tried to make a prototype out of it, but the eagle file is messed up somehow. Also it's hard to source it's driver chip in Europe.by joaz - For Sale
Hi, did anyone tried using soapstone (talc) as heat barrier (instead of using something like PTFE or PEEK)? It is very slick and temperature resistant (and cheap too). The only thing which worries me is that the filament is probably harder than the soapstone and will rub it off.by joaz - Mechanics
I can see your problem. I've had such an acrylic set and both Z & Y couplings cracked shortly. Glue won't help for long. I highly recommend getting a coupling like this: Those are expensive but work very well.by joaz - Mechanics

Using these bearings to act as linear bearings doesn't seem very efficient to me. However, it'll be fine if you keep your rods to greased.by joaz - Mechanics

Hi, On Host software I'd recommend to turn on "CommsDebug". That way you can see if your host software is the problem or the firmeware or hardware is it. Did you check if the pin configuration is correct? On your stepper board - do all the LED light up? Have you adjusted the trimpot?by joaz - RepRap Host
First attempt to debug "strange things happening" are: - Check ground wires. - Check for any interferences along the cables. - Make sure all pwm pins are connected to pwm output on your micro-controller board. - Does every channel work? Write a small test program to activate the PWM pins. - Inspect your boards for bad solder joints.by joaz - Controllers
Use those 3-pin headers/plugs you use to connect a fan to your PC motherboard or solder them directly. I never understood why to use those expensive RJ45 jacks for a part where you really don't need them.by joaz - RepRap Host
Yeah, normally the host software does a X&Y minimum after each layer. Having any kind of endstop is a good idea Alternatively you could hack the host software so it doesn't do any kind of "go to minimum" if you configure it to do so.by joaz - RepRap Host
Ok I'm from Germany. Likely the shipping costs would exceed the value of the belt. If you don't have any luck finding one, send me a PM.by joaz - Wanted
Hi, 1) Yes. The communication and function is all the same. 2) (Where is Reprapsource shipping from? ) Germany (you can also switch to German on the right top corner). 3. I use the analogue optocoupler TCST 2103 (reichelt: CNY 37)by joaz - Controllers
The belt you are looking for is a metrical T2,5 belt. Where are you from?by joaz - Wanted
Hi, I just released a new opto endstop PCB which is now available in Europe. Goal re-designing the official 2.1 endstop was to be compatible with a variety of parts without having to cut a trace. The new board can take H21LOB or equivalent as well as a wide range of 4-pin analogue optocouplers. Configuration is done by a simple solder bridge. A screw terminal can be used to wire it up.
