Hi rammohan, did you succeed? Id like to change the firmware due to problems. It would be nice to exchange experiences.by ThorsenRune - General
Hi a lot of links to reprap ormerod1 are invalid. Would be nice with a summary for those of us who upgrade after some absence. I'd like to give a hand if someone can take the lead.by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Update. We have been struggling with it for a year now and it has been for a service 'repair' for 3 months (still not returned). Apparently there is a serious problem with this product.by ThorsenRune - General
Thanks Roberts, tried your suggestions with no luck. You are right about the importance of finding a support group for the olivetti 3d-s2. I expexted that a fairly high priced machine was superior to the cheap printers we have used before (RepRapPro, Prusa etc.). Since FW and HW is now Closed source (contrary to what the sales description let you believe) it's difficult to optimize design flawsby ThorsenRune - General
Looks good. I have the same issue runnung ubuntu on an old 9'' XP netbook. It would be great if you could share the code?by ThorsenRune - General
Thanks Roberts, do you have any ideas?by ThorsenRune - General
Hi, here at the Don Gnocchi Hospital in Milan we are researching in prototyping assistive devices for people with disabilities as an opensource project. We needed something larger than our dualcolor RepRapPro and have starting exploring the possibilities of the Gimax3D S2 from Olivetti. It would be nice to connect to other users to share information. I haven't yet found any discussion groups.by ThorsenRune - General
Ohhh, thank you ever sooo much for your reply DC42 I found the other post about tpre0.g files. I just removed the M116 and now it's much faster when standby and working temperatures the same. I cannot figure out if slic3r can set the G10 commands?? Thanks DC42.by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Dear dc42 Could you please elaborate on how I should use the M116 command. The printer seems to halt between extruder change eventhough i have G10 P0 S195 R195 ; Set tool 0 operating and standby temperatures G10 P1 S195 R195 each time an T0 or T1 is issued the printer stops for a while (1 min) Thank you very much Runeby ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Just for the record. The endless messages of SD printing is due to checking the [ ] Watch in pronterface.by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Hi. Just got my dual color upgrade working. It it normal that there is a long pause (about 30seconds) between the two colors. i..e when the extrusion changes from one to another extruder. ? It increases printing time dramatically. How can it be avoided?by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Ababuy: You have the yellow and red inverted with respect to the instructions. Did you also invert them for the second fan connection? and where the second fan is supposed to be mounted? Anybody ?by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Well, it confirms my suspicion that the instructions are for another version. However with reverse ing. im moving forward (slowly). I have contacted the support reprappro yesterday and hope for an explatiation soon. I have an ormerod1 and apply the dual colour upgrade for version 1, but have discovered that the instructions are for ormerod 2. Sofar we have found out that the power wiring differby ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Hi, can anybody help me by explaininig how the wirering should be done when upgrading with the dual color upgrade for ormerod 1?by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Well we bought the dual color upgrade. We still stuggle to understand how the wirering should be done, because it seems totally different from the image. I hope we got the mechanical parts right though it took some days. Important to print out the new parts before dismantling the 3d printer. As for the wirering Im searching WWW for more info as we are stuck at the moment.by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Update: The support team sent me two new reels, saying "we had tested diameter (1.75) and printability (we made some extra filament on the end of the spools to do test printing) before sending, both were fine)". The ones received here in Europe were thicker, measured with a digital caliper. For the first 1 meter we found that the minimum diamenter was 1.86mm and the maximum was 1.94. (Before anyby ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Quoteshadow651 you drill it out with a 2mm drill bit (which probably makes it a bit larger than 2mm) during assembly, I guess this is a very delicate proces which requires special drill and a mounting in a high quality bench drill?by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
I must say that the company has been very responsive to this issue and has promised to send replacement material. I did some measurements yesterday with an electronic caliper, revealing lumps on 1.95 diam. Second time it happened immediately while trying some very slow manual extrusion so its not a slicing problem at this moment. The filament gets stuck in the inlet, and it was not even possibleby ThorsenRune - Ormerod
We found that the 1.75 filament (GRPHN-175) had a very uneven diameter going up to 1.85. The filament jams the inlet of the hotend requiring a total dismantling of the printerhead.by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Omar, for sketchup I use stl4su.rb plugin. You will download it from Its very easy then to just export the sketchup to a stl file. You may also want to install a SolidSolver.rb plugin because SU is not very good for 3D design. It took me quite some time to get started doing 3D printing. Let me know if you need more help. I think youll have some fun trying to print your thing since its not one sby ThorsenRune - Slic3r
Kyle, what printer do you have?. I found that Ormerod has made some firmware limits on release 0.78. I also unchecked the 'Enable Auto cooling' to get rid of the limits Runeby ThorsenRune - Slic3r
Hi Kyle, just had a quick look at your slic3r setting. Could it be the Cooling settings under filament tab?. There is a 'Slow down if print time is below" setting that caused trouble for me. BTW. Would you recommend Skeinforge? I would like to try, but it seems a hassle to install since I don't know pyton.by ThorsenRune - Slic3r
Ho avuto lo stesso problema. Abassando la velocita si e risolto.by ThorsenRune - Problemi e qualità di stampa
I made some film with a webcam to illustrate the fact but cant upload them so its just 3 images for those interrested. This is slicer 1.2, I found that slicer 0.98 doesnt recognize the bridge so it just ignore the setting but it works better. Im using . It really helped me a lot Anyone knows which slicer is the first to recognize bridges? Cheers Runeby ThorsenRune - Slic3r
I wanted to try kisslicer too. Anyone?by ThorsenRune - Ormerod
Hi Dave, I do also have some problems with bridges. For me it seems like the printhead is running back and forth when trying to make the bridge without bounding to the borders leaving all to fall down. I see folks who make great bridges but Its a mystery to me how they do. Anybody? RS - Ormerod with Ormerod-0.5 settingsby ThorsenRune - Slic3r
