Infill ends-up lower than perimeter - 12 years ago
Hi all, I am trying to get my new Orca v041 running reliable, but I can not get my hights well. In my little test-cube 25mm the surface will be lower in the middle than the borders. I notice a gap of more than 3mm when layer is 0.25 mm and approx 1 mm when layer is 0.2 mm You also see this when the cube is hollow. Any sugestion which parameter to change ? I will try to get the effect on camera. However, the question remains... Is there a parameter like the skeinforge parameter that allows the infill to overlap with the perimeter? Thomasby Replace - Slic3r

Hi all, every time I load Slic3r, it comes up with the same defaults. even if I change them and save the configuration, next time the old defaults are there. Loading the saved file solves the problemn, but I expect that I can save my preferences in the default config file. Is that possible and where is it located? rgrds Thomasby Replace - Slic3r
Infill does not touch perimeter - 12 years ago
Hi all, I am slicing with slic3r, but my first layers will show a gap between perimeters and the fill. I am missing the parameter that will allow the fill to overlap with the perimeter (as skeinforge has) My result will therefore end-up with one or more filament lines being loose and possible be peeled off. Pronterface execution of skeinforge failed - 12 years ago
Hello all, As a newby, i can not get my skeinforge running in pronterface. After downloading and installing (from mendel-parts) I have checked and specified my defaults. When loading an STL in Pronterface, it gives this error: Skeinforge execution failed Followed by a file path and the remark : Import error, No module named skeinforge_application.skeinforge_utilities So probably I have a flawby Replace - Skeinforge
Skeinforge "temperature" setting for PLA - 12 years ago
Hi all, The Skeinforge manual defines defaults for most parameters. As so it does for the temperature parameters, but it states only the ABS defaults. Does anyone have practical PLA values for those parameters? Rrgds Thomasby Replace - Plastic Extruder Working Group

Hij is binnen hoor, Mijn Orca v4. Gister 11 uur bij Camiel staan bouwen en toen printte hij voor ik vertrok al een Orca part. De v4 is intussen meteen geupgrade naar (zeg maar) v4.1 met een nieuwe geared extruder, hotend 10 en trapecium threaded rods voor de z-axe. Hij gaat nu ook Orcabot heten geloof ik, tenminste dat staat er stevig in gefraisd :-) Komende dagen finetunen en dan kan ik mijnby Replace - Dutch User Group - Archive

Hoi Drucktet Ik zit ook in de Utrecht regio. Ik ben in afwachting van de Orca v0.4 die ik volgens planning ga bouwen tijdens de workshop van 9 april bij Mendel Parts. I wander, Some articles state that PLA will attract moisture, kind of hygroscopic material ? Anyway, I received a number of spools oit of a Swedish factory and all were sealed and included Silicagel However, when i walk through the Thingiverse library, I see people having multiple spools mounted above their printer. Hoi allemaal, Ik kreeg vandaag mijn basisvoorraad PLA binnen. (flinke blubs diverse kleuren besteld in Zweden, daar is alles gewoon uit voorraad leverbaar en lekker goedkoop.) Alle spoelen zitten mooi gesealed in plastic zak met silicagel daar bij. Nou heb ik al wel ergens gelezen dat PLA hygroscopisch zou zijn, dus vocht aan trekt, maar hoe erg is dat eigenlijk? Hi all, This week I stay in SF, for business and 2days leisure. I had asked TechShop to facilitate a private session for me to discuss in and out on 3d extrusion printing. A free format session about software, plastics, printer and design aspects and maybe some demo on the Makerbot. This for me to get on speed, as I will start building my Orca v4 from next week onward. Hoi again, Is er een manier om een STL file ergens in te lezen en dan de echte (verwachte) maten van het object te bepalen? Ik heb nog niet door hoe dat zou kunnen. Ik bedoel dus niet tijdens het ontwerpen, dan ligt het voor de hand, maar een downloaded STL van iemand nameten voordat ik ga printen? Thomasby Replace - Dutch User Group - Archive

Hi Ryan, Ik ken ze nu ook. Ik had nog eerst wat referenties gelezen over china spul en besloot toen ook maar voor Zweden te gaan. Momenteel zijn er 10 spoelen onderweg naar mij thuis :-) heb nu ook wat Makerbot spoelen in mijn koffer, maar dat is ABS. Ahh... the idea was not new. Well, in mean time I added a second "exclusive/or" camshaft, which holds all filaments, except the one extruding. They turn together so always one goes into feed mode, all other will be restrained against push-back. Be advised, this design only has one hotend. No layer offset per color needed, so less Gcode tweaking required. So far so good :-) Thomasby Replace - Reprappers

Hmmm.. good question. I am still waiting for my first printer to be delivered, so i have no knowledge of the forces that are pushing on the melt. However, I will give this some thought and refine the idea. Maybe a one-way clamp on each filament, like the clamp that holds the line on a sailboat ??. Be advised in my idea that the camshaft can be operated by hand in a simple version. In the ultimby Replace - Reprappers

Hi all, I had some funny idea on cheap multicolor extrusion upgrade. Is this going to work ? See attached. The idea is: Still one filament-feed motor needed. Multiple filaments for which only one is forced to the pully by a camshaft kind of device Hotend has multiple inputs, but only one output. So.... just switch cam and after some small delay, the extruder switches colors.... How abouby Replace - Reprappers

Ik overweeg om PLA 1.7 te bestellen bij reprapcn (China) Ik heb mijn printer nog niet, maar een voorraadje opbouwen kan geen kwaad :-) en nu heb ik nog tijd om te wachten :-) Transportkosten bij 10kg evenveel als de materiaalkosten. Dan wordt het totaal ca. 30 usd per kilo. Bij meer kg waarschijnlijk goedkoper. Ik heb nog geen idee wat de douane gaat doen, maar dat merk ik vanzelf. Wat denk je... Moet ik mij al zorgen gaan maken? De webshop is al een paar dagen uit de lucht met een cryptische mededeling. Ik zit te wachten op een Orca v0.4 die al is betaald .......
