For combining 3d printing directly on CNC I would not suggest it, CNC milling is dirty, you would need to clean the part, possibly heat it up... and I do not believe that would stick well... printing and milling separately would yield better result.

Suggested Linear options to replace ball screw - 5 years ago

I setup my 3D printer with a single Ballscrew for the Z axis. A while back, I read about a polymer system similar to a ball screw (without the ball bearing) and I am considering if I should make the upgrade. Sadly I can't seem to find the info. If anyone knows what I am talking about I would appreciate some pros, cons and the name of that system. Thanks

Thanks. I noticed that when the car changes direction a "deformation" near the pully... would that indicate that it's still too loose?

Yes, it's a steel core belt, I haven't seen any issue yet... Do you think that this could have been the issue for the layer shifting?

The path are exactly the same except that you do a single twist at the front (on both side of the belt to avoid contact where the 2 belt crosses). You still need some height difference but only a few mm... I am not at home ATM, here is an old image and videothat I got from when I started... I will upload some more later. Video

I had to rebuilt my CoreXY recently (had a misalignment on the z-axis). Since then I had some layer shifting and I was hoping to get some info on some test that could indicate if the belt is too tight or too loose. I am using the single belt setup. Thanks

Mounting ballscrew & SBR12UU to 2060 - 6 years ago

I am going to update my Z-axis. Currently I am using 2x MGN12 rails with one SFU1204 Ballscrew. I had to print the bracket to mount everything together and my bed on occasion still staggers (I assume that I am not 100% aligned...). I decided to change my MGN12 rails and blocks for SBR12 with SBR12UU blocks, apparently my ballscrew housing would match the height of the SBR12UU blocks. My questio

I knew that I would have to move my electronics from under to the back (avoid the possibility of aluminum causing contact on my board), but I didn't think of that magnitude.

My 3D printer is pretty solid... I went overboard with the 90 degrees bracket, using an aluminum top plate for the X & Y movement, multiple cross support... The structure itself is made of 2020 aluminum. Why are you saying that I would messup my printer?

I am building a CoreXY. I am mostly done and my SSR got lost in transit. While I was waiting for my part I saw Tom video on the subject. Now that I have to reorder, I am considering using Mosfet instead of SSR. I have some question on the subject. I am planning to use it with a 24V 350W power supply and a 350W heated bed. Quotedc42 I'm glad you got it working. DuwtWebControl 1.14a is the correct version to work with RRF 1.17e. M997 S1 and M997 S1 are for the Duet WiFi only. For the Duet 0.8.5 do I require to do something to install the web control or do I just need to setup the network specs?

I was finally able to run the stepper motors, my 0.8.5 isn't blown... Also I would require some help on how to install the Web Controler. I copied the DuetWebControl-1.14a to the /www I copied the files DuetWebControl-Master to the /sys When I am trying to run M997 S2 to install it doesn't install

ok Thanks for the comments... Here is what I have done and the result. I upgraded (bossac) to the 1.17e.bin. the web service that I found was 1.14a.bin unsure if it's the right version... Since I am learning I copied the 1.14a to the /sys folder and tried the M997 S2 to install the web service and I got QuoteInvalid module number '2'.
