Hi SW I will buy your white ABS providing the price is reasonable. Unfortunately im in Europe at the moment ...only back 15th July Cheers Philby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
not that this helps much but i too get an occasional "jolt" when connecting but am able to print with no problems. Maybe puts you mind a little at ease with part of your issue. I use WIN 7 and dont have any issues with USB / comm ports. Will be interesting to see how you get on with XP Good luckby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
I agree with TechnicZ 3D printing can be frustrating at times when you have to deal with not only temperature settings for different filament materials but calibration issues as well . You will be much better off if you have built you own machine from a kit because then you will have a fundamental understanding of which part(s) does what. There are lots of step by step build instructions and vidby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
Hi Shan I have just recently had 6mm acrylic laser cut for my Air 2 Mendel conversion contact@plixo.com.sg Not sure if they can do 12 mm but worth dropping them an email Good luckby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
Hi all Im currently busy converting my prusa mendel to an Air 2 Prusa AIr 2 I have had the plexiglass side frames cut locally ( 6mm acrylic (very dark tint) ) and have added the basic hardware ready to move the "mechanics and electronics across Printed parts so far include 3 X 90 degree brackets to assemble the Air 2 frame 4 X bar clamps for the y axis rods 4 X washers for the Y axis beltby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
to the best of my knowledge your X min should be on the left or you prints will be a mirror image ( mirrored on the y axis) Z should home to min ( print nozzel slightly above the print bed) I don't understand what you mean by "Z homes first" I assume you mean when you press " Home all axes" Which ever way Z should home towards the print bed ( Z min endstop) In pronterface When you press Y +by bigfilsing - Firmware - mainstream and related support

Good news Francis , im sure Veen will like your result as well I did notice in your pic that you have names the axes the wrong way round well at least as far as is the norm for rep raps. Normally the X axis is the one on which the print head moves and the Y axis is the one for the print bed. Not sure if this will effect your prints at all. Hi I think you would get a better response if you posted some pictures of what it is your trying to print and /or the model file itself. I kind of understand what you mean but need more info. I sometimes model in my own supports when things get tricky. I havent really used the "support" feature in slic3r yet as its pretty new I usually use Cura slicer for models needing support and have had sby bigfilsing - Printing
Thanks for the Kelantan lane tip. I'm currently building a new printer for a friend so i'm interested in the specs and cost of the Nema 17 motors ? Ill be needing 5 Cheersby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
Might still be stuck in Europe then but if im in town ill definitely drop by for a chat. Cheersby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
Hi Simon, What kind of parts ?? In particular i am looking for 8mm smooth rods I have also had some Air2 acrylic plates laser cut so am going to convert my printer to an Air2 Aside from it being more rigid ( in theory) i think it will look a lot better than the "jungle" of M8 threaded rod. I should be picking up the acrylic plates this week and if they're any good ill share the info Cheersby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
Would be good if you made more info available on its features and of course cost Thanksby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
first guess would be your computer is going into power save / hibernate mode. I had this problem once with an old lap topby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
Hi Just reading some old posts. Did you have any luck sourcing parts here in singapore ( other than romscraj) Cheersby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
I can honestly say i have no idea ........but its a lot :-)by bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
minor issue ...he's dead The world needs another apple centric "I" device like it needs a hole in the head Nice looking piece of kit but too cheap ...there has to be short cuts in its fabrication and parts quality. I admire the guys for getting off their back sides and doing something they clearly loveby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
I would recommend buying a kit from the guys at romscraj. Great components and support! In theory you could save a few dollars by ordering all your stuff separately but when you take shipping into account and the risk of parts not being compatible with each other, is it really worth it ? Good luckby bigfilsing - Singapore RUG
geoffd I use inventor for my 3D modeling. A lot depends on how you created the ipt part file. For the part to be correct you have to have the base sketch ( which will be the first layer of your print model) on the origin XY plane and extrude upwards in the positive Z plane. If you havent done this then the exported STL will be wrongly orientated for printing The solution i use is to open a nby bigfilsing - Slic3r
to the best of my knowledge the define max and min are to limit the amount the software/firm ware can drive the steppers in any one direction you wouldn't want it to be able to drive it beyond its physical limits . That's assuming you don't have MAX end stops. So once each axis has been homed the firmware knows not to drive it further than the value you have assigned to MAX_POS ***by bigfilsing - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Sorry but i think you will struggle to keep it under 400 dollars You still need a controller PCB , a hot end , endstops, power supply etc The 160$ kit seems pretty good value but depending on the cost of just the prusa single plate frame you could try and source the other items locally. M8/M10 threaded rod is a standardized item and i,m sure you could get it locally very cheaply. Its down to wby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
Just my 2 cents i think its the last 3 lines in your file. //Manual homing switch locations: #define MANUAL_X_HOME_POS 0 #define MANUAL_Y_HOME_POS 0 #define MANUAL_Z_HOME_POS 0 I don't have these in my config.h ( im using a Gen6d board) I would comment them out and try your system again. Im not sure what their purpose is. Unrelated to your issue i noticed you have some weird travel limits /by bigfilsing - Firmware - mainstream and related support
the issue is way too many people have faith in "save as" without understanding whats actually involved. You wanna design, build and draw in 3D then learn it properly. There isnt a short cut Good luckby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
so youve got pronterface to connect to your machine and can control the XYZ axes ? you need to set the hot end temp and wait for it to reach the temp before it will extrude. If you press "extrude" before then you should get the message " cold extrusion prevented" in the terminal window. do you get that?? ( the value below which it will not extrude is set in the config.h file) You might try postiby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
Hi As for the extruder a picture would help. First thing i think you need to do is verify that the hot end is actually 185 Next would be to make sure there is enough tension "gripping" the filament so the stepper motor can do its job. (there is also a slight chance you have way too much tension and the stepper motor is stalling) If both the above are confirmed then it maybe that the stepper moby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
just guessing here but i think it needs a value ...to the right of the extrude button you need to type in an amount ( in mm) for it to extudeby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
need more info Filament ABS or PLA Type of extuder ? Hot end temp? Always been a problem or just recently ? Good luckby bigfilsing - General Mendel Topics
Does sound a bit like your board is playing up. I have the same board so maybe post your config.h file and ill compare it to mine then at least you can discount that from the "investigation"by bigfilsing - Firmware - mainstream and related support
