One thing not mentioned was speed. How fast are you printing these in mm/sec Normally I stay around 40-50mm/sec for good quality.by Floyd - Printing
Try 225c or 230c That and it looks like you might be overextruding. What is your perimeter speed set at? Depending on the size of the part id run it as slow as 40mm/sec.by Floyd - Printing
That bed temp is a bit low for ABS. I bet some of your issues is from the bed not being hot enough. I print my ABS at 110c bed temp. If you cant heat it up that high than you have an issue you need to sort out before you continue.by Floyd - Printing
If I need something to mate I model and print it myself. Why trust some random model you found on Thingiverse? Ive downloaded tons of junk files from that site because people dont know what they are doing.by Floyd - Printing
I use 14AWG from the PSU to the Ramps.by Floyd - Controllers
For my strong parts I print 50-100% depending on what the part is.by Floyd - Printing
Quotedailafing Hi Floyd, I tried placing G29 in the code but when sliced with cura, it didn't skew while traveling X/Y. Also, what's this ABL you speak of? Perhaps you could post specific instructions, and I'll let you know the results. You place it under the start G-code area in Cura and it should be the line after the G28. G28 G29 This will home then level the bed assuming you updated yourby Floyd - Slic3r
Try another Slicer. Cura is my go to slicer! As far as auto bed level, its just a single line of gcode that you can add into any program. Just after your G28 to home you place the G29 for ABL and you are done. I gave up using Slic3r with issues like these and started trying out all the various slicers.by Floyd - Slic3r
QuoteBOBOSS Gcode becomes like this: M140 S100.000000 M109 T0 S240.000000 T0 M190 S100.000000 M80 ;Sliced at: Mon 22-09-2014 21:01:37 ;Basic settings: Layer height: 0.3 Walls: 0.6 Fill: 0 ;Print time: #P_TIME# ;Filament used: #F_AMNT#m #F_WGHT#g ;Filament cost: #F_COST# BOBOSS I normally delete those first few lines so that it runs what I put in the start gcode area. I hate that I cannot deleteby Floyd - Experimental
Retraction... Turn it on and then adjust the distance. Mine is at .5mm for a direct drive setup.by Floyd - Printing
Looks like your first layer is too low looking at that picture for one.by Floyd - Printing
Sorry but if you cannot even print nice at 50mm/sec its only going to get worse going faster. You need to calibrate your settings a bit more before you get into 60-80mm/sec area. Personally 60mm/sec is as fast as I normally go. Mainly I stay around 50.by Floyd - Printing
250c is a bit high from the "norm" I print ABS at 230c Also id bring the infill speed down a bit to 50mm/secby Floyd - Printing
He is doing a 8mm rod design. Im going to check out those files from that github and see if thats what I need. Thanksby Floyd - General Mendel Topics
Buddy is looking to build an i3 and im going to supply the printed parts for his build. The issue im having is that im finding 1000% varients of the same thing. Can someone point me in the direction of the STLs for this model: (See picture) I think I found the right set on the github but I just want to make sure before I spend hours and hours printing bits for him. Thanks everyone! -Floydby Floyd - General Mendel Topics
Correct. Check the part in Cura by viewing the layers. You should have two colored lines around the part showing 2 passes. You might have to go to 1.5mm to get it to show. I know on my .4mm tip I have mine set to .9 to get 2 perimeters.by Floyd - Printing
Might try a little less. Also how many perimiters are you doing on this part? It almost looks like you only do one perimiter. If so try bumping it you you get 2-3 loops to get a cleaner finish.by Floyd - Printing
Sounds like you might be overextruding or your extrusion temp might be too high. Please attach pictures.by Floyd - Printing
Nope. I get to 110c in about 10-15 minutesby Floyd - Printing
Attach the first section of the gcode so we can see it.by Floyd - Printing
Sounds a bit on the hot end for PLA at 220. I print ABS at 230...by Floyd - Printing
Are those corners suppose to be rounded like that? Looks like you might have to turn your acceleration and jerk settings up a bit to get cleaner corners. What speed were you printing those at and at what temp?by Floyd - Printing
[videos included] - 12 years agoYou dont have heatsinks on your stepper drivers and you dont have a fan on them... Im guessing overheating.by Floyd - Printing
Still looks like you are extruding too much. What did you set your % flow rate to? Might try 2-4% lower and try again.by Floyd - Printing
Ive adjusted the flow rate in Cura to help with that. At 100% I was uverextruding even with my E steps correct. Now at 90% its much better. Glad Cura corrected the problem on the layer. Its my go to slicer.by Floyd - Printing
QuoteP4d0uch I've got the printer for 4 days. It needs some calibration. Ok i will try cura. Thanks Why try to print anything without calibrating first? Calibrate then try to worry about slicing errors.by Floyd - Printing
Ill chime in with stating im another Makerfarm user and I love mine. Simple and easy compared to sourcing your own stuff. I have the older 8" i3 with rods and linear bearings.by Floyd - General Mendel Topics
It looks like you have more issues than just missing the top layers... Try another slicer like Cura and see what your results are. I dont even use Slic3r anymore because of all the bugs and issues.by Floyd - Printing
There is a section in the firmware to help with the servo moving. I cant remember the line exactly but I think its something like disable servo? by default its 300 i believe and it worked for me.by Floyd - General Mendel Topics
The print temp comes from your Gcode file. Its in the begining of the file. Just change the 200 to 230-240 and try again.by Floyd - Printing
