Maybe for the sides you could use that foamfilled sandwich alu, to keep heat radiation down?by Lykle - Delta Machines
You can't Not in Sketchfab as the designer has not set the file up for download. All you can do is ask him, or try and find it somewhere else. Lykleby Lykle - General
Here is hoping it all is a quick success and you start banging the wall. I will do some proper research on this and get back to you guys as to how realistic it is and at what price. I know the materials are available, just want to check if the long high temp will not impact durability too much. lykleby Lykle - General
That last photo is wallpaper material for my desktop. Larger version please. Is that loop closed at the end? Or did you open up the pipe where the loop connects to it? Might be a way to equalise the pressure around the loop. Lykleby Lykle - Delta Machines
Hey Mike, Actually, we could make the Nimble out of temp resistant material for you. That is the beauty of SLS manufacturing, tune the material. We could make the gears from the same material and polish it. It will last long enough, but POM is better of course, under normal circumstances. Funny thing is, I was thinking about it when you said you were doing the vacuum bed printer. I thought theby Lykle - General
Wow Viktor! You have seen that? Oh man I am jealous. That kind of tech has always had a big pull in my imagination. Lykleby Lykle - General
Nice idea. I like that, having 2 materials that way. Especially if the outer one is transparent. I have some neon yellow TPU that will look great over a bit of black nGen. Now I have another reason to install my Chimera set. I need to find an extra 2 days per week I think. Oh bother! As to making smaller filaments and nozzles to lower weight, I think it is more logical to remove most of the weiby Lykle - General
Clever! Using solder as a support while bending.Way to go Mike. I just received the pump, man it is big! Alas, no time to start using it. I want to do this right. But since the Nimble is now selling, I am running ragged designing additional adaptors left right and center. But man oh man, what a good idea using the solder. My tubing is 2.9 and managed to get a 90 deg angle bent without problemby Lykle - General
Good idea, acetal. Was getting a bit worried about the weight. But then I am now working on a Diamond nozzle with 3 Nimbles on top. Weighs a bit more. BTW I receive the sensors yesterday. I see what you mean in flex. I will have to find a little time to play with them. Lykleby Lykle - General
Hi Andreas, Have a look at this discussion, as it describes what you wanted to do for a calibration sensor. It uses a peizoelectronic sensor to measure the nozzle tapping the print surface. I added a small modification so the Nimble would fit on top. Or you can use the bowden variant.by Lykle - Delta Machines
I know I would like to machine my own effector. I have a nice alu design that I would love to make. Will have to modify it a great deal, knowing what I know now, but loved the idea of a billet alu effector. Also, there are a few very good looking ones floating around. Including one that was printed in metal, that was a sweet design. Lykleby Lykle - Delta Machines
HI, yes happy to finally get there, it was/is a hard struggle. As to materials, the design is mold ready, so there is every chance that we will eventually get there. Currently only the gears are injection molded (POM), as they are critical. The shells will be SLS printed using NyTek 1200 PA. This is the same type of materials we have been using for our prototypes, but a little stronger and the sby Lykle - General
Oh I am looking forward to this one. Going to be following this for sure.by Lykle - General
Oh sorry, I thought you still using the Cyclops option. Nice way to check the nozzle heights, pretty clear and usable. Thanks. Here is how I will mount my Nimbles and Chimera on my Delta printer, with a simple double mount. It is a double bottom part, with the rest of standard Nimble parts mounted on top. Looking mean in black, don't you think? To be clear about this, I am using a cheap Chineby Lykle - General
AFAIK Richard is using a Cyclops. That gave me the idea of making it flipflop in height. But that will not work, because then the nozzle is not perfectly vertical. So the next test is to see how much angle is needed to lift the nozzle high enough and if that influences the print quality of the nozzle in use. And with a mount like this, adding a flipflop mechanism should not be to hard to do. Hby Lykle - General
I love the way that plate looks. Both the top and the bottom. It is amazing how much force a little suction can generate. Looking forward to what happens next. I really like the idea of a simple method of switching print bases.by Lykle - General
Yep, agree, DuetWifi for me. I am very impressed with the feedback, responsiveness and help they deliver on a daily basis. This is support as it should be. Stellar.by Lykle - General
Hi, Thanks Richard, Here is a new image with the complete Chimera modeled, including the wires and bolts etc for the heat block. These are the new heat blocks with the cartridge thermistor. These are slightly bigger than the "old" heat blocks. It still fits and still enough room for sensors. But it was a good point about the positioning of the heat blocks, so I now made the standard model thatby Lykle - General
For now I have published the designs on Thingiverse. If things need to change I will update the models asap. Thanks DjDemonD, Moriquendi and Huntley for some great work.by Lykle - General
After some conversations and having a look to see how to do it, I did some re-work on an effector and this peizoelectric clamp to make the Nimble fit. Using Haydn's latest effector: And DjDemonD's mounting sysyem: Overall it was not too hard, but just to make sure I got it right I redid all the models, mainly to get it into native formats for my cad solution. Here is a quick image of the oveby Lykle - General
HI, Nah it's ok, I will grab the Thingi files and re-create. Not too difficult. Thanks Lykleby Lykle - General
Nice work! I think I will have to try it as well. It certainly looks like a lovely idea. Combine that mount with a new effector and a Nimble sitting on top, perfect setup! I will download your Thingiverse files and see how well that would fit. Unless you have a step file for me? Lykleby Lykle - General
Oh thanks Mike, Now I will have to try and generate photo's I guess. Lucky for me, the pump is not here yet and the rest of the stuff is being shipped as well. All I have now is the metal tubing. Why lucky? Because I don't have the time at the moment to be "distracted" by research. Way too busy with the Nimble. But I will do my best to show some real results. Lykleby Lykle - General
I think there will be a lot of smoke happening soon. Only way to visualise what is actually happening is use smoke. So my printer is going to vape?! Oh dear.by Lykle - General
One of the possible causes is when the heated bed switches on. The power drop might reset the printer. This would probably explain why it only happens when using the card, because as you say, the card draws some extra power. It also explains the randomness of the reset. Only way to check it to watch really closely and see if the reset happens when the heater switches on.by Lykle - General
Your initial idea was a Geeeeeetech? I recently bought the Geeetech i3. It went together ok, the instructions were clear enough and if you understand mechanics, it is not a difficult printer to put together. It will certainly introduce you to 3D printing and to the problems associated with it. There are a few fixes required, but there is load of knowledge about them and you can always ask here.by Lykle - General
Hi all, Just received my Flatforce print surface. Interesting stuff. Simple 3 mm thick carbon fiber sheet, but with very rough and dimpled working surface. Just doing a quick print now using PLA and it grips well at 45C. I am looking forward to try it out with the nGen I have and I still have some nylon to test out as well. They advise not to use wood fill or such, but I will certainly try Niby Lykle - General
I just ordered a cheap one on Aliexpress to see how it is made and what you can do with it. Will be an interesting little project Lykleby Lykle - General
