Great thanks! I will leave the PLA out for tonight and test it tomorrow. I think I still have a piece somewhere. I ran out of filament and shipping to this island takes a while. Been testing too much I think. Didn't catch it in time that I was running out.by Lykle - General
How did this work out DjDemonD? Did you manage to finish the print? What is the status here? How is the situation above the hot end? Long bowden? That would impact retraction, which could cause issues like Moriquendi pointed out. Since you switched filaments it is not an issue with a duff filament. Could it be a slightly misaligned heat break? Hello All, I am having fun here trying to break my Nimble. Trying out all sorts of filaments. Using a Volcano and pumping vast quantities of filament through it. Now going back to testing the more tricky ones. In that vein, what is the most brittle filament you know? I am now testing with Laywood, Olive. It seems pretty brittle to me. Easy to snap. Any other "difficult" filaments? Thanksby Lykle - General
I am using arms that I built using the magnets and balls from Haydn. Here the sleeve is holding the magnet approx 0.2 mm away from the ball surface. All I do is lubricate it a little with a very small amount of silicone grease. Works wonders. I can't really tell when I need to grease it again, as it remains smooth. I think it is the smoothness of the balls that make the difference. With the bigby Lykle - Delta Machines
OK Ryan, I will make the model and send it over to you. Thanks again. You will have it tomorrow.by Lykle - General
Hi there. We finally managed to get it done. Had a few delays (one of us fell off a roof and had to go to hospital!) but we finally made it. Kickstarter Campaign for the Zesty Nimble Thank you Brian and Lykleby Lykle - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
Hello All, The Kickstarter campaign for the Zesty Nimble is live! It took a lot of hard work and delays (one of us fell off a roof and needed to go to hospital) but we finally did it. If you are interested, here is the link: Have a look and see if you like the product. Thank you. Brian and Lykleby Lykle - Crowdfunding Projects Announcements
Have I got a Sketch? I have models. Using IronCad so I can export in a lot of formats. Step is usually the most accurate. What format do you need to look at it? And, Thank you! Lykleby Lykle - General
I am trying to get to grips with Fusion360, just so that we can release designs for others. But I do not like it. It is a struggle after working with IronCad for so long. I don't like the method used, where you have to define the working plane, make a sketch and extrude it. The biggest issue I have with it, is that you have to know what size to make a line or shape, before you can make it. At lby Lykle - General
How string free do you want it to be? I found, doing that test, that the temp setting had the most influence over the strings. My 3rd attempt came out with only 2 angel hairs, but the surface is still very rough. This is due to the fact that I was extruding cheap filament before and had to adjust the extrusion factor. Now I am extruding with nice good filament so I have to adjust it again. I hby Lykle - General
Yes, that is due to the fact that I was printing with only 2 top layers.by Lykle - General
Not at all, the surface is very smooth. Not pulsed at all. Surprised you said that. You might be confused by the fact that it is transparent filament and you can see the infill. Lykleby Lykle - General
Hmm, nice! Wonder if that would work with liquids. For instance, inject lubrication into the plastic part. Sure, you will need materials that interact with each other properly, but I wonder what the result would be. Besides messy, that is. You could us the idea for 2 filaments, then you would get the toothpaste stripes, but not very useful. The mixing nozzle, could that be used to create fullby Lykle - General
Very clever use of throw-away cores. Nice. Learned something new again. Thanks. Is there a reason the throw-away core is circular? Or was that just easier to model that way. Lykleby Lykle - General
Hey MechaBits, that is a good question. On quick reflection, most of my designs don't translate well to being printed. Case in point, the Swift Flyer attached image. It is a electrically powered bike that you tilt and steer with your feet. Hands are used for the throttle and brake. Max tilt is 45 deg for now. But this will not print well, unless I support the hell out of it. Although, it wouldby Lykle - General
Sure! Ah well, I can always go and have a look right? As long as it supports my 3D mouse.by Lykle - General
Hey DJ! Just found the SAMLA clips, thanks to your link on useful things to print. I need about 100 of those. Thanksby Lykle - General
Hey DJ, Thanks, nice ideas. A few I had already printed, some I had seen but forgotten again, so thank you. Next is a big teddy bear and after that I for sure am going to print some of those ideas. To start with the SD card mountain. Simple idea, but nice looking. Yes I am on 3DHubs but I don't want to use that for this. First of all, since I am in Cyprus there are not many people around thatby Lykle - General
I have been using IronCAD for years. Tried to sell it in Holland oh 10 years ago or so. But I am a lousy salesman so didn't do too well. Didn't diminish my belief that IronCAD is still the easiest way to get into real 3d modelling. It is easy to start with and can grow into extremely complex designs. I found it "clicks" with my mind, with the way I think. CADAM was the same way in the old daysby Lykle - General
I am using the Engineer crimpers and am perfectly happy with them. Lykleby Lykle - Experimental and Hobby
Had a better look at the slicing options etc. Scaling had nothing to do about it of course, when I sliced the standard size I also lost the chimney hole. Still, I expected "Merge all outlines into a single solid model" to just be used to fix areas where there are solids overlapping, not removing holes or openings. It is in the "Repair" section of the options. Ah well, now printing the Big Bencby Lykle - General
This is not expected. I wanted to pump a lot of filament through my latest Nimble extruder and decided to print a double sized Benchy. Just to have a nice big volume and still check retraction etc. So I took the standard Benchy and scaled it to twice the size in Simplify3D. Since it was the Benchy, I didn't really look at the preview just printed it with standard settings in PLA. 5 hours later Iby Lykle - General
Oh thanks. I will simply have to try that one. Looks like a nice challenge yes. Good to see that you did get a result. Lykleby Lykle - General
Glad to see you are up and running again. Had a similar issue with my printer. I keep my old digital camera at hand and use that to format my SD cards. It formats faster than SDFormatter and it seems to give them new life, at least 1 out of 2. Lykleby Lykle - General
I am using IronCAD as I have been using it for years. And yes, I am addicted to my 3D mouse as well. Lykleby Lykle - General
Catching a problem in modelling or slicing in the rendering stage? Interesting idea. I certainly agree with you that rendering is a difficult subject and not something to be taken lightly. In other words, good luck! Lykleby Lykle - General
Personally I don't think it is a fair patent. It is too close to David's IR sensor to be ok. But, this is in my opinion and I am certainly not a Patent lawyer. Besides, all the knowledge I have about patents applies to the European patents and not the US version. Nevertheless, prior art is prior art and the IR sensor has been sold in the US already. Hey, Nice to see when somebody gets it! Ah South, near Limassol. Link to the fan with a higher rate? Hopefully? I would like to use a radial one, as they are easier to position and give the Nimbles more space. But if axial is the only way to go, so be it. Lykleby Lykle - General
Hi Deckingman, Yeah I understood that. 16cfm is quite a large number. I am considering to reverse the design process. Find the correct fan and then build the rest around that. Lykleby Lykle - General
Hmm, interesting idea. Will make it a bit taller as the Nimble then needs to move up, away from the Hot end opening. I will have a look at that. Thanks Milton.by Lykle - General
