I ordered a Hybrid insulator a while ago, and it seems that my ABS filled up the space between the PTFE and the PEEK and pushed the retaining ring out. I put it back together, but the same thing just happened again. Any ideas what I can do with this?by Katai - For Sale
So I guess the nichrome cross wires with the thermistor somewhere. Any suggestions on how to get around this?by Katai - Reprappers
For a few weeks already, my boards have been working fine. This afternoon, though, I started having issues with my extruder board. It seems that it keeps reporting 143c when the heater is off. I unplugged the thermistor, and it still shows 143c. When I have the thermistor plugged in, and start heating my extruder, the temperature does go up. However, it never drops below 143c. I have absoluby Katai - Reprappers
I'm having some issues with my Makerbot extruder controller, and I need help figuring out what's going on here. So here's the rundown. I start up my RepRap and Connect to RepSnapper. I run the extruder from RepSnapper. The stepper motor on the extruder spins fine for 2-3 seconds. After that, it starts choking. It jigs back and forth, and loses all of its tension. Here's a video: I've beenby Katai - Reprappers
Yes, I'm using the RepRap Host. I don't think it's cleaning the extruder nozzle. It extrudes this blob for each layer. The machine doesn't go anywhere near the notch in the build platform.by Katai - Reprappers
Another issue. When the Reprap starts building the cube, it's supposed to draw a square outline first, right? Because mine isn't doing that. It just sits in one corner and extrudes a blob, then does the zig-zag motion to fill the inside of the cube.by Katai - Reprappers
I finally got my Mendel built, but I'm running into a ton of trouble trying to calibrate the thing. I can't seem to find any definitive guides that tells me what values I need to change to get this working. Every guide I've come across so far pretty much says to "print this model to calibrate" without actually telling me how to calibrate. When several dozen values with obscure names in both thby Katai - Reprappers
I just ordered another stepper board and should be able to test it soon. I got some advice to switch out the IC3 5v regulator (my multimeter shows its only outputting 1.5v), so maybe I can salvage that when I get the parts.by Katai - Reprappers
Well, I don't know if it's a faulty board or not. I just plugged it and it's not working. I'm using them unmodified (except for a small hack between the main motherboard and the extruder board to get that working).by Katai - Reprappers
I think the justification is that because I'm using it to build a Mendel instead of a MakerBot, and that I'm using my own Power Supply instead of theirs, they can't be held responsible for possible damage to the boards caused by shorting, ESD, ETC. Honestly, it's hard to argue either way because we don't know where/when the damage took place.by Katai - Reprappers
Anyone know what parts he replaced, exactly? Is it this part?by Katai - Controllers
It doesn't look like MakerBot is going to replace my board. Do you guys have any ideas on how to salvage this?by Katai - Reprappers
Nothing looks out of the ordinary as far as the solder points go. I'm still having no luck with this thing, and so far MakerBot hasn't replied. I'm afraid I might have to shell out another 40 bucks to get another oneby Katai - Reprappers
Yeah, I switched the cables around and such. Two of them work fine in any configuration, while the third is just dead. I sent an email to MakerBot, but so far haven't received any replies.by Katai - Reprappers
Hi there, I bought a stepper controller from MakerBot (actually, I bought the whole electronics set), and it seems one of the stepper controllers isn't working. I have the ribbon cable and the ATX power connected. When I turn the main motherboard on, the green Power light on the stepper controller turns on, then fades. The other two steppers they sent me works fine. The light stays green, anby Katai - Reprappers
The board is supposed to come with firmware and the bootloader (I don't imagine you can upload any firmware without a bootloader). I guess I'll be RMA-ing these boards back.by Katai - Reprappers
I'm still not having any luck. I think it's because the black and green wires on my ATX power supply aren't connected. Do you need to do this on a Makerbot board? I was under the impression that Makerbot made the board so that no modifications were needed when you use the ATX power port. I can turn on the board by shorting the black and green wires, but I don't know if this is the proper wayby Katai - Reprappers
I don't see anything of the sort. There's an on/off switch, but that's pretty much it.by Katai - Reprappers
I'm tired of the giant power supplies the size of cinder blocks. I was thinking of moving towards something in a smaller form factor. I'm using an unmodded makerbot motherboard (RepRap 1.2), so it requires an ATX power supply. I stumbled across this little thing: The PicoPSU is so adorable! But do you guys know if it's powerful enough to run a Mendel?by Katai - Reprappers
I'm having trouble programming my makerbot motherboard. These boards should have a bootloader preloaded, right? I have my USBtoTTL cable plugged in, but there doesn't seem to be any power LEDs on. Do I need to ATX power supply for this? When I try to upload the software, I get "not in sync" as the error. I have no idea what this means, but I suspect that it doesn't see my motherboard at all.by Katai - Reprappers
Just FYI for anyone who comes across this. I tried using #8 bolts in place of the M4 bolts. The problem is, if you're using the specified bearings, that won't work. The #8 bolts are slightly too big to go through the bearing. The solution is to either get different bearings (I'm not sure which ones you would use), or go with the #6 bolts. The fit is slightly loose, but it'll fit through theby Katai - Reprappers
I'm finally getting to putting together the entire reprap. I've come across a snag, though. My nuts don't seem to fit into the trapped nuts slot. The slot just seems too small in the top half (the bottom half looks like its fine). What's the best way to get these nuts into the slot? Should I use a file?by Katai - Reprappers
I just got a set of these: They say it's preprogrammed for the makerbot. Does that mean I need to reprogram them to work for a mendel?by Katai - Reprappers
I just finished cutting these out using a drill and a jig saw. Here's what I did. I printed out all the parts in a 1-to-1 scale. Some parts are too big for regular paper, so I printed them out in parts and glued them together. I used aerosol spray glue (got some at Michaels) to glue them onto the plywood. I like this stuff because it's a strong glue that doesn't soak into the paper, and it pby Katai - General Mendel Topics
I'm in the United States (Tucson, Arizona to be exact), and I have absolutely no idea where to buy the belts needed for a Mendel. Any hints?by Katai - Wanted
Has anyone successfully put together a Mendel using Imperial measurements for parts? I'm having a ton of trouble finding metric parts here in Arizona, and when I do, they're tons more expensive. The nuts and bolts I can find (but as I said, expensive), but I can't seem to find the threaded rods at all. The people at every hardware store tell me that I'd pretty much have to go to a mill to getby Katai - Reprappers
Hey there, I'm definitely interested in these parts. Let me know if they're still available.by Katai - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
I'd love to put together a Mendel, but when it comes to the electronic parts, I'm really at a loss. I want to buy parts at Makerbot, but they seem to be completely out of the GEN3 parts. Is there any alternative shops for this stuff?by Katai - Reprappers
A couple of us down here in Tucson are dying to get our hands on Mendel parts. We're trying to see if the University of Arizona would make a few parts for us, and we're hoping to get a quote from them at some point. Let us know if you guys get your stuff going.by Katai - Arizona, Phoenix RepRap User Group
I'm trying to build a Mendel, but I can't get started until I can get my hands on a set of Mendel parts. A friend had a great idea to check the local University to see if they can help. Low and behold, they do rapid prototyping for students and local businesses. I don't know what kind of machine they use, but they need an STL file to provide us a proper quote. However, the Mendel parts are inby Katai - Reprappers
