just a fyi - looks like a combo of slic3er settings and angle of fan hood - my fan was blowing to hard and cooling down the head faster than it could keep up .. i didnt think the fan was that strong but i guess i was wrong ... i have tweaked it so it only (mostly) comes on during bridges.

think i've worked somthing out .. it looks like the print head temp is droping to like 150C mid print .. dont know why as the led for the extruder heat is on .. .. possablyl loose wire?

i may try with the towel later it's a good idea .. and it is possable the spool could stick , the holder i have isnt the best.

seems to be all my prints recenty .. and it's random .. some prints are a hot mess , others only 1 or 2 missing lines. .. i would think if it was somthing with the extruder sticking or somthing allon those lines it wouldnt be just to outside border , same goes for all mechinacal problems i can think of.

my prusa will do this thing where it prints fine , then for 1 slice it just doesnt do the outside border of a part , i end up with well printed infill , and a missing outside row .. my camera does large pictures so i'm just putting a link to where the pics are (only 2 pics) and also my slic3r config.ini i dont know where to start to look , is this a slic3r error? or somthing mechinal with the

1kg of pla = 400 chess pieces (according to the google) .. that about as much as i know heh ..

thanks i ran through the m303 rutine and i was able to get some numbers and your links were helpfull .. FYI those arnt "my" settings , thats just what is in the code when you grab it from the git.

the filiment size only really effects the speed of the extractor and weather or not you need a 1.7 adaptor for your hot end.

so reading the configure.h i see a large amount of pid settings and a few others i dont understand like #define DEFAULT_Kp 22.2 #define DEFAULT_Ki 1.08 #define DEFAULT_Kd 114 wouldnt be an issue if used one of the "kits" but mine is a prusa that i sourced the parts from everywhere including this hot end budaschnozzle 3mm/0.35 I have heard some horror stories about bad settings

ya mine has 100 also (latest marlin) .. i put it at 10 and will print somthign smalll , then back to 100 and print again and possably do 200 and see the differances .. because it's a MAX i dont think it will make a differance , it think thats just to limit the unit from hurting it's self .. i also have a prusa and marlin is setup for ultimaker when you just grab the code and changing a ton of stu

fan to keep ramps cool (duh!) - 12 years ago

where does one connect a fan on a ramps 1.4 ? .. NOT the 12V between the bed heater and hot end (i plan on useing that for the fan on the X-carrige for bridges and such) , but another 12 OR 5 v fan power so i can blow air accross the board at a constant speed. (i'm thinking either will work , i'm just going to run down the road to the computer place and grab a vid card fan and i know they will r

ya i was thinking the same (lang) but it "seems" setup correctly in marlin .. will need to poke a bit more .. also of note - the sd card never inits properly (not the one on the lcd , but on the sd mini card that plugs into the aux pins on the ramps) , so i'm really starting to lean twords somthing wrong with the solder joints somewhere this is from language.h // Languages // 1 English // 2

slic3r wrong config for pronterface? - 12 years ago

so i have 2 versions of slic3r inside the pronterface folder - one is slic3r v 9.9 the other is ver 9.10 (10 fixed some memory issues for me) and i have changed the path inside the proterface options to point to the slic3r v9.10 .. when i click slicer options in proterface it does bring up the correct slic3r and i am able to change the options , then save them (printer-opts , feedf-ops etc) .. ev

lcd discount smart controler - 12 years ago

so i got one of these guys lcd and i uncommented the #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER line in the newest mendal (wiki says you need to change pins in pins.h but it's allready done , that and the line numbers in the firmwarwe dont match so i'm assuming the wiki is outdated or firmware a bit newer ) and upon powercycling the printer i do get stuff on the lcd screen and spinning the knob
