Skilled, The kit should have come with a wiring diagram. I dealt with this a while back -- see this thread: Good luck! I have my DIYtech printer running right now, they're great machines once you get it tuned up! - Polyby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hi Novo, I believe I have the same problem as you, but it happens more often on the beginning of prints / slower moments. To me, it looks like the gears are slipping because there's not enough torque coming from the motor. I've noticed a few reasons behind this: - If there's too much tension from the filament (i.e. if it's tangled). Make sure your roll is easily pulled by your motor. - If theby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Quotebrucehvn Can all of you with Omegas/Alphas show me how you mounted your y end stop? No matter what I try, it gets in the way of the bed moving all the way back. I saw Ralf's custom version in another thread with the super long switch arm, but I'm not sure what it's triggering on. Looks like it wouldn't be the plastic bed mounts. Bruce I've built the i3x from DIY Tech. My recommendationby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hi everyone, I've been calibrating for a week now on and off. I'm finally nailing in some good data, but I have a new problem and I'm unsure where it's coming from. Please see the pictures I attached: You'll notice that the calibration seems to be getting better over time. However, the third box (rightmost in pics), you'll see that the layers are not building one on top of the other, so I'by Polymathiae - Reprappers
- 11 years agoAs this part of the forums is for machine variations, I thought I'd post a couple small ones I did. My i3 kit was purchased from DIY Tech Shop -- my experience with them has been great overall, especially for my first RepRap. Bed Leveling Finished pic attached -- print-bed-level-mod.jpg Pretty simple here -- the stainless steel plate's holes were not drilled in the proper places. Hi all, @kithrax -- great to hear you got that fixed... I figured it was probably the wiring, but it sounds like some who ordered from DIY ended up getting different wiring than I did. I've gotten a few PMs regarding the DIY i3x build, so I'll outline some of the questions here so that the community can (hopefully) benefit. PLEASE NOTE that this is provided for educational purposes only -- my bby Polymathiae - General Mendel Topics
Kithrax, Glad to see another DIYTechShop-per on here. I recently finished my i3x build and have it working (fairly) well. There is light at the end of the tunnel! In terms of your motors not working -- same thing happened to me. Be sure you've wired them according to the diagram they sent! This seems silly, but with you doing 10+ hours of work on that bad boy, you can miss things here and thereby Polymathiae - General Mendel Topics
To wrap this post up: My problem with the Z Axis was twofold: 1. The motors we're not putting out enough torque 2. because there was a mechanical issue @rogerclark -- you were right (again!) Apparently, one of the nuts had an issue... not sure exactly what the problem was, but it was just very difficult to thread the rod. After a quick trip to Orchard Supply, new M5 Hex Nuts and I've got allby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hi everyone, So mostly working now... @rodgerclark -- turns out it was the wiring. Apparently, I had decided to wire it however I wanted too... low and behold, that doesn't work -- so I wired it properly, and viola! Motors are running properly. @Erick64124 & chngylan -- I'll definitely be doing the homing exercise and speed checks here once I get everything up and running. Hi everyone, I feel like this forum is my new home. So, I'm built, I have power running, firmware has been uploaded and I'm ready to calibrate, but I'm having and issue with the motors. Using PrintRun, I'm testing the device. The bed and hot end heat up just fine, but when I try and move any of the motors, they just jutter in place. I've attempted to adjust the current to the motors via the stby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hi everyone, Thanks for all your responses and suggestions - I've got it working! Turns out upon further investgation that, due to the binding posts being screwed into the frame, it was shorting out after all. Good learning experience -- test twice before I open my mouth! I cut the whole thing up and started over -- same wiring, same binding posts, but this time I enlarged the holes and covereby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Checked this on the multimeter, seems to be okay (the case is powder-coated and isn't conducting). After turning it PSU off and unplugging it, I pulled an OL reading from the main terminals, which eventually dropped to zero. Seems like the device is definitely drawing power charging the capacitors, it's just not pushing it out to the terminals. Here's a link to the PSU: Manufacturer says it'sby Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hi Lazzymonk, Thanks for the reply, those wires are actually not connected together, they're both insulated, I just put them in an endcap together to save space. Does that mean the rest of the wiring looks good? Could it be that this PSU has some circuitry to circumvent wiring like this? Thanks again!by Polymathiae - Reprappers
Hello fellow RepRappers! I've finished my i3 build and I'm very excited to start configuring my rig and make my first print. However, I'm having problems with my power supply. I had a few brand new 500W ATX PSUs laying around for another project I'm working on, so I figured I would covert one using these directions: The only issue is, it doesn't work! No voltage on the multimeter, no 12V lighby Polymathiae - Reprappers
