Hello, My second extruder is not heating in makerware while trying to print a dual extrusion example from makerware. Do you know how to fix this? The bed and the right extruder heat just fine but my left extruder never heats up. Then the printer still trys to print with it. I am running makerwares 7.5 firmware after having to rollback from sailfish 7.6. The problem happens in both firmwarby OO DURKE OO - General

QuoteDownunder35m In that case it is not weird at all, just a really crappy extruder Get a proper one or print one and forget about the thing that can't be adjusted. The extruder and printer are actually one of the best on the market right now. the print quality exceeds an ultimaker once its up and running. I bought some tensioners that fit it without heavy modification so it should work welby OO DURKE OO - Printing
QuoteDownunder35m From your status report I take it that you already tried a few things... But you say you have marks on the filament, try to adjust the tension on your extruder like this for a try: Loosen the tension as far as possible. Grab the filament with your fingers and turn the wheel by hand - if the filament is not pulled through your finger increase the tension until it does. You want tby OO DURKE OO - Printing
Quotemsaeger Does it thunk if you have the nozzle raised above the bed and tell it to extrude manually? yes it does. it can be hanging anywhere and thunk. Everything is tightened down I put a new top plate on it to see if that stopped it and also a new extrusion wheel. Neither worked. It is still thunking. It will extrude a little just fine absolutely no issue then it will thunk a few timesby OO DURKE OO - Printing
QuoteDownunder35m In the video it looks like you use far too much extrusion. If the extruder can't transport you have several issues to check: 1. Does the filament move freely through the extruder and nozzle if you push by hand? If you can't push by hand (with the motor off of course) it usually means something is not right. 2. Does the extruder damage the filament? If there are big marks from hoby OO DURKE OO - Printing
I dont suppose you can help me out again Dougal. My CTC printer is thunking as it extrudes. I posted here.by OO DURKE OO - Reprappers
Here is a youtube video showing my Raft that was printing. I'm desperate for help.by OO DURKE OO - Printing
UPDATE! It appears to be thunking using 1.75 mm PLA as well. However the Left extruder seems to be working fine with no issues at all. I'm just not sure what to do here. So at 190 C its thunking on PLA and at 220 to 230 C its thunking on ABS. It is trying to pull on filament and slowing feeding but seems to be slipping and will cause ripples. I'm clueless here.by OO DURKE OO - Printing
Hello Everyone, My new CTC 3d printer has been upgraded to Sailfish 7.6. It seems to operate fine testing basic functions. HOWEVER! lol. It's thunking upon extrusion both during prints and while feeding filament loading. It will extrude about 1 to 3 mm of filament fine with no issue then thunk thunk thunk and ripple the filament then do fine again and rinse wash repeat that process over anby OO DURKE OO - Printing

QuoteThinkyhead Broken and unwanted printers are among the donations I will accept to help my work developing Marlin. Sorry but it is already gone. I could sell you a cheap motherboard from my old CTC printer. It still works. QuoteThinkyhead This is the current Setup Guide. It needs work, so please provide feedback about anything that is confusing. Meanwhile you may also find videos on YouTube on how to set up Marlin, so give that a search as well. Thank you for the assistance. My Solidoodle burned out. The extruder stopped working and I was unable to fix it. Since my CC was able to get a refund as they have no waby OO DURKE OO - Firmware - Marlin
QuoteRoxy You install the software at this link: And then you double click on the Marlin.ino file that is sitting with the source code. You set your board type to what it needs to be. You build and upload the firmware. Please see this post. I need some additional help before I can begin.by OO DURKE OO - Firmware - Marlin

Can you help me with this? I have zero experience doing this and I have no idea where to begin. I would like to update to a newer marlin version if one is available for my solidoodle press. Below are some documents I was looking at. I can tell I am in the right general area but I have no idea where to begin. @GGHERBAZ Would you like to buy my CTC printer? I bought a replacement I could not get the new extruders to work well and its basically busted. Tired of playing with the extruders I bought a M3D printer to replace this one. I saw it at a show and its cheap. My printer still fires up fine works well just needs a new carriage and the extruders need work but are there. Wiring is all good asby OO DURKE OO - General
So I got the new extruder but its leaking plastic from the top and sides of the heater block. Any sugesstions? I am pretty sure it was tight. It was hard to install so I really dont want to have to take it off the carriage again. I notice its missing those tiny any key screws from the heater block. Do those matter? Quoteggherbaz But you might have to reuse your barrels or get new ones, since this one can use them but don't come with them. That one would probably fit what I need better. Does it need different wiring for thermistors? it looks like it has a different setup on the hole configuration. I can re use my heater module but I dont have a thermistor if it needs one.by OO DURKE OO - General
Quoteggherbaz That one have the stepextruder which sucks, get this one instead or something like it. That print head says its 12v extrusion will this affect my printer? I know it is 24v or is that just everything except the print head?by OO DURKE OO - General
Quoteggherbaz That one have the stepextruder which sucks, get this one instead or something like it. Thanks. I may get that one. I was thinking about the kind with the filament button on the side. I forget what that part is called. Do you know of any other kinds that are easier to adjust? I did like the smooth barrel of the stock CTC printer nice and easy to slide down.by OO DURKE OO - General
Well i got it to power on but the extruder is trashed. the thermocouple didnt read temp right and burned out the head and melted the insulating tube inside the barrel. the motor is stil good but I may just replace the whole thing. the fuse doesnt appear to be blown in any way. when it shut off I heard a short zzz or hiss sound and I immediately cut power to it.by OO DURKE OO - General
So I need some help. I reconnected the wire and turned the printer on it was working perfectly fine. So I flicked the switch off. a day later I went to turn it on and immediately it flicked off loss of all power. I take it somewhere there is a short. I dont see any loose wiring.
