bump..... Issue still occurring intermittently. It will happen 2/10 times I send the G28 command. Why would the same command produce different behaviors.....by donkahones - Reprappers
anyone got any ideas? I'm stumpedby donkahones - Reprappers
after thinking some more about this issue it seems like maybe the extruder is "homing" itself along with the X, Y, and Z axis. Why this is idk....... I'm going to dig into the marlin code some more.by donkahones - Reprappers
I've been experiencing a strange issue with my custom Prusa I3, occasionally when I try to home the device through the front LCD screen the extruder will go into what I think is a tool change routine instead. The only reason I think that its a tool change routine is because it retracts all my filament (at a very fast rate). Then dives into the bed throwing off my Z-level. This only happensby donkahones - Reprappers
Yes @55rebel I am talking about the display back light POT on the front of the board. From the topic @SteveRoy linked to it looks like there is another pot in between the boards that may need adjusting as well. It looks like some people are adding external resistors to bring the screen contrast into a usable range. That topic thread has pictures. Make sure that the screen is hooked up correcby donkahones - Reprappers
there is a POT that needs to be adjusted on the display. It is VERY sensitive and the sweet spot is really small. Play around with it until you can see the block of pixels then dial it back ever so slightly.by donkahones - Reprappers
@Vanbot You will end up replacing almost everything on it once you get started I've printed all my upgrades in red pla so I can see whats stock and whats upgraded. Only black parts left are the four black corners and the Y motor mount. Thing is that you need a printer to print the upgrades. It's a learning experience so you wont know what to print until you have an issue you need to solve.by donkahones - Prusa i3 and variants
Turns out I had a faulty thermistor on my hotend. I was able to get it to print well enough to mount my e3d hotened wade setup and now the temp is rock solid wherever I set it. thanks for the help everyone.by donkahones - Reprappers
@55rebel I also responded to your post in the folger tech thread but.. Did you add the #include "U8glib.h" portion to Marlin's config.h? Because that is not in the original github file. Its also not necessary to add. All you need to do is uncomment the line defining the display and make sure you installed the U8glib library in the standard library folder, which it sounds like you did. @pabloevaristo A few things that I would check. 1) make sure your belts are tight and aligned correctly. 2) Make sure nothing is binding when printing. Check your cables to see if maybe they are restricting the movement of the bed plate or X carriage while printing. 3) Listen for missed stepper motor steps (clicks) when printing. If heard then double check your Vrefs on the motor driveby donkahones - Prusa i3 and variants
@DriftyDave The Prusa i3 Rework section on this site has some pretty good build documentation of which most is applicable. There are some serious holes in folgers build manual. (differing bolt sizes, unclear directions etc.). Once you get it up and running you will see that there are a number of better ways to do things. First thing you'll probably want to print is this fan duct Mk7 headby donkahones - Prusa i3 and variants
@DriftyDave For the Y and X axis carriage belts you should do it how they picture in the Prusa i3 rework build pics, which is wrap it completely around the inner block and ziptie it back onto itself on the outside. Other wise it will eventually come off or just cause you issues. I did it as described in the folger build manual then had to order new belts to do it properly later....don't be me.by donkahones - Prusa i3 and variants
Yup I am on 1.02. I checked out the github and didn't see any reported issues similar to mine so I submitted a new one. I have experienced a few of the other issues noted as open. Now I'm glad I haven't made it to set up abl yet. It would have been a nightmare trying to set it up with buggy code. I'll try downgrade to 1.00, I'll report back in once complete.by donkahones - Reprappers
interesting issue with my Folger tech Prusa i3 lastnight. I was printing a temp cal cube and everything was going fine until the target temp dropped below 186C. The temp was not staying at 185 and was cycling between 175C and 184C while the heater power cycled between full on and full off. When setting the target temp for 186C the heater cycles around 50% and the temp stays rock solid +/- 1C.by donkahones - Reprappers
