I was having same issues. 1.2.9 was crashing regardless of setup, slicing at Generate G-code etc. But then I killed the Skype process that was consuming definitely too much for an application that was supposed to be working in background - and voila. No problems with slicing since then. Please check if having a bare system will help you anyhow (no additional and not needed applications running iby japim - Slic3r
