Thermistor Broke - 9 years ago
Hey I broke my thermistor wire and can't solder it back together. I ordered a 10 pack however I was looking to salvage one from some other electronic device. I see some fan's use them however I can't find one that has one on it. I was wondering if anyone has tried other thermistors from scraps.. I'm also looking to source all printer materials just short of the control board from recycled mateby weaverzinc - General

Have you tried removing the filament and running the printer to see how it will after the 2nd and 3rd layer. Are you sure your stepper driver is set with the right amperage? They are supposed to be set at 50 percent when you get them. Or try swapping them around?by weaverzinc - Reprappers

I have the 6 wire Nema 17's, but only 4 are used. All the wiring is correct except for maybe polarity I guess.by weaverzinc - Reprappers

Yeah I found that out 5 minutes after I posted that. The motor heated up once more.. then another print it wasn't hot at all.. I'm a little confused as to what's going on. I guess it might be the motor as I switched the X and Y wires and the same motor heated up but now on the Y axis. As long as it doesn't catch fire I'm good =)by weaverzinc - Reprappers

Oh one thing I didn't mention is that my one issue now is that there is a wobble effect in my X axis from what i can tell. My circles are not quite round and smooth. I did have the X axis off of the 90 degrees from the Y. I straightened that by eye for now as I have a few parts to print to make some modifications. I had an issue with my x axis stepper motor heating up while idle with the motors on and I tuned the amps down to under half and still no change... the one thing I kept wondering is if the polarity of the motor wires would make a difference even though some of the videos on steppers says polarity doesn't matter HOWEVER I switched one pair of wires and the heat buildup went away. Hey Folks, I'm up here in Glens Falls starting up a makerspace group. I've already built a CNC machine and 3D ScrapRap (as i call it), and I'm collecting more scraps to build a bunch more in a workshop for people interested in building their own printers and having hands on help in the process. Hello, I'm up here in Glens Falls. I just put together a Diy home-built printer and would like to start a Makerspace type place up here. I'm hoping we can work together and help bring 3d printing to more people. I'm currently working on a ScrapRap as i call it, old pc printer parts assembled into 3d printers. I'm going to be using the DC motors and optical sensors for the X and Y axis aby weaverzinc - New York, Albany and Greater Capital District

I have this same problem, I turn on the hot end and I get the kill called error. I don't have a LCD connected so I changed the #define KILL_PIN to -1 which didn't seem to do the trick. I'm going to see if I can bypass the Hot end and run it with no filament to see if I can get it to run. thanks for any suggestions! weavby weaverzinc - RAMPS Electronics
